The hardest part about things is often the semantic design, and the behavior, not the implementation. With a function like this, you have questions about when to return just a filename, or when to return a fully qualified path to a file, what to ignore by default, etc. I know how I've used it, and have made some changes based on that, but I'd like to get input from others to get that stuff right, so more people can use it effectively.
