Altme 1.1.28 WinXP -> pressed a group after startup and got this 
-> Invalid data type during recycle

Previously in this group, Reichart has stated something like - it's 
a bug in Rebol not in Altme.

Hopefully the bug won't make it into Rebol 3.0

Ah yes oke..altme application does not come with any catch-info indeed....

that bug is probably gone in view 1.3 already.

I just saw a new (at least to me) bug in AltME.   After switching 
windows AltME didn't redraw the message area.  It was a solid gray 
(the color of the message seperation line) when I clicked on a message 
the message was redrawn and clicking in the poser column cause the 
entire message area to be redrawn.

Say, does anybody have an  AltME icon image that I can use on my 
Gnome desktop? I was thinking of making my own, but thought I'd check 
first.

Is there a way to change the timeout of AltME? I think the reason 
I can't resync properly is that in the groups that contain a lot 
of posts, I get disconnected at around 50+%.

Mmm.. doesn't look like it. Can't see anything in the config files 
either.

Anton, any suggestions on how I can "download" the posts in these 
groups?

Use the export button on the top right

Kaj, tried it, but it only exports the current messages that are 
in the current group I'm in. What I would like to do is actually 
to resync the groups I'm interested in. Unfortunately, I had to post 
dots in some of the the groups, and I ge disconnected in some of 
the groups. :-(

Just one question; what version of AltME do you have written at the 
top of your window ?

I'm using v1.1.28 of AltME. I've been to the web page you referred 
to, but it only displays the 300 latest posts.

As a new REBOLer, I want to "gather" every bit of information I can 
get, especially from the posts, but the groups which I believe would 
be very helpful to me have more than 1000 posts. Through the web 
site, I can't read the earlier posts, and I get disconnected from 
the world everytime AltME resyncs these groups. I have noticed that 
groups with less than 500 posts do get resynced w/o being disconnected; 
although I had to "force" the resync (that's why I had to post the 
dot in several groups, as posting in the dot group doesn't sync me 
to all of the groups).

I think about a year ago we did a successful transplant. I just gave 
someone some chat files, they put it into the correct directory and 
it worked.

So please list the groups you are missing and I'll get around to 
zipping them up for you perhaps tomorrow.

Thor, set your groups to about 100 and it works.  we know about the 
bug.

No problems, Reichart. Thor, I think Reichart means to go up to the 
chat settings icon (spanner and screwdriver icon at top-right) and 
change the "Message Limit ... Per chat room" field.

Anton, here are the groups I'm having trouble with: !RebGUI, Advocacy, 
Core, View, Tech News (old...). I've also reset the message limit 
limit to 100 per group.

So you still have the problem after setting it to 100?  Also, what 
type of connect do you have, and where (in the world) are you?

Unfortunately, yes, I'm still having the problem. I'm using dialup, 
in the sunny summer country called the Philippines. :D

When you say dial up, do you DSL, or 56Kbaud modem?

56K modem, though actual throughput varies between 33.6K & 45.2K

Yup…….I apologize.  There is something very very subtle in this bug 
about timing.  For those that it happens to, it happens all the time, 
but setting up the exact same configuration does not reveal the bug 
to us.


We will nail it, we have been ripping into the code lately, and we 
hope to get this with it.

Does this mean the only way to sync correctly is to have a copy of 
the .set files locally?

well, one thing you should try is reinstalling.  Letting AltME sync 
only for a few minutes (before it finishes).  close AltME, then go 
again, letting it complete.
We are not sure, but we see that help a lot sometimes.

was to select the "run from current location" option?

Hmmmmmmm.....what OS are you on?

We may have to bring back the Guest account. I remember being able 
to sync by changing to Guest and back to my original account.

Or some type of account that we can switch back and forth to, maybe 
a read only account.

it runs?

I didn't actually install AltME. After downloading it and double 
clicking it, instead of selecting the "Typical" option, I chose the 
other option, the option where it says "Run AltME from Current Location," 
or something like that.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.....


Ok, will you try doing a full install, lets see if this simple thing 
is the problem.

I don't think we ever do that LOL, we always install.
