Where are you ? I have read about REBOL4 world. Who I should ask
for an access ?
Pekr:
14-Mar-2012
5508
Giuseppe - yes, we have moved, as this world went down, and was down
fore few days, with no sign, when it will be back online ...
Pekr:
14-Mar-2012
5509
Today the whole altme.com DNS server went down, so all Altme worlds
around the globe went down (not exactly like that, but close)
GiuseppeC:

Pekr, how do I enter Rebol4 ?
Pekr:

In fact - he took last 100 ppl logging here or so, and sent them
an invite.

Hi all, I updated

    http://www.fm.tul.cz/~ladislav/rebol/nistclock.r

Changes:

- server list updated

- "stronger" checks used to suppress some errors when invalid data
are obtained

The main REBOL website is down due to account suspension. Can someone
close to Carl let him know right away?
Gregg:
30-Apr-2012
1223
It is back up.

Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4101
it's used to look up the world name from AltME.
Pekr:
7-Mar-2012
4102
you can login as a Master, but a world password? What is it for?
Isn't it good for to only auto-setup a Master account, which will
be given a world password?
Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4103
so you specify it once, when creating a new world and there is no
way to change it, which is a problem.
Maxim:
7-Mar-2012
4104
probably until it expires automatically, which is 5 days IIRC for
free worlds.
Gregg:
7-Mar-2012
4105
I am back in, too.
Pekr:
7-Mar-2012
4106
Yes, I know the form requests it ... do you think it is stored, and
then used to register with altme.com?
Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4107
it's odd because I need to use the password, when starting it from
the AltME GUI, but I don't need it, when starting from CLI.
Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4108
Gregg, maybe we can perform the transfer anyway.
Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4109
The CLI way should also work in Windows, right?
Gregg:
7-Mar-2012
4110
Yes, though there are glitches on alt ports, so we will have to see.
I have two worlds on the VM now (5400 and 5401), so we would know
right away if it works on 5402.
Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4111
ok, I'm going to close the Rebol4 world again, and you try to start
it in a second.
Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4112
done
Gregg:
7-Mar-2012
4113
Started, but not able to connect here.
Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4114
What does your user list show?
Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4115
it should show 98 users, 0 active.
Gregg:
7-Mar-2012
4116
It does.
Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4117
ok, good, then there is a firewall or routing problem.
Pekr:
7-Mar-2012
4118
Gregg - not sure it will work on 5402, unless it registers itself
on altme.com that way?
Maxim:
7-Mar-2012
4119
pekr, when you start the server, you effectively transmit that info
to the altme world name server.
Pekr:
7-Mar-2012
4120
in worst case, we would have to wait 5-10 days for the timeout. But
maybe, when starting a server, it will re-register the requested
port, dunno ...
Maxim:
7-Mar-2012
4121
that is primarily why the world name server exists AFAIK.
Gregg:
7-Mar-2012
4122
It sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Alt ports that is.
Pekr:
7-Mar-2012
4123
world name exists from the marketing purposes ;-)
Gregg:
7-Mar-2012
4124
I agree with Max, but there are other issues too. Need to check the
info file.
Pekr:
7-Mar-2012
4125
simply check here, once you transfer and start it - http://www.altme.com/cgi-bin/lookup.cgi
Maxim:
7-Mar-2012
4126
FYI, it takes 10 days for world name passwords to reset when you
last use it
(last paragraph here: http://www.altme.com/notes/lost-pass.html)
Gregg:
7-Mar-2012
4127
It says none of my worlds are available.
Gregg:
7-Mar-2012
4128
Including this one.
Maxim:
7-Mar-2012
4129
yeah, just got the same reaction.
Gregg:
7-Mar-2012
4130
Not a firewall issue.
Gregg:
7-Mar-2012
4131
And netstat says 5402 is listening.
Andreas:
7-Mar-2012
4132
The world name server still believes that the world ought to be served
from Henrik's machine.
Andreas:
7-Mar-2012
4133
http://www.altme.com/cgi-bin/lookup.cgi?lookup=rebol4
Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4134
hmm... that seems a bit silly. if you change your network provider,
you can't serve anything.
Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4135
I'm getting invalid user/pass now.
Maxim:
7-Mar-2012
4136
strange the lookup page is screwed up.
Gregg:
7-Mar-2012
4137
Are you running the server again?
Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4138
I'm not...
Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4139
This is odd. Now the world name is suddenly case sensitive again.
Gregg:
7-Mar-2012
4140
You should be able to just move and restart a server.

I still can't connect at all, even on the server itself.
Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4141
If I try "Rebol4", I get invalid password. If I try "rebol4", I get
no connection.
Andreas:
7-Mar-2012
4142
Gregg, that's because the WNS did not yet refresh (for whatever reason).
Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4143
Maybe there is a step missing and it simply can't show that the server
is not running.
Andreas:
7-Mar-2012
4144
I think the only step missing is that the newly started server needs
to refresh WNS.
Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4145
aha... I ctrl-C'ed it, when I quit. maybe that's it?
Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4146
going to start it and then quit it properly this time
Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4147
now it responds correctly. you can try again, Gregg.
Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4148
(lookup responds correctly)
Gregg:
7-Mar-2012
4149
I'm still trying. Don't know how to force a refresh to the WNS though.
Andreas:
7-Mar-2012
4150
I think you may have to start it once via the GUI and enter the password.
Gregg:
7-Mar-2012
4151
I can't start the world manually, because of the private pass issue,
and the shortcut start doesn't seem to do it.
Gregg:
7-Mar-2012
4152
So we're back where we were.
Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4153
private pass? are you trying from CLI?
Gregg:
7-Mar-2012
4154
Yes, CLI, since I don't have your pass to start it from the GUI.
Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4155
so you need the password to switch to a different connection.
Andreas:
7-Mar-2012
4156
Give Henrik remote desktop access to the machine for a minute or
two. Let him start the server once from the GUI, entering the password.
WNS should refresh. Shutdown and start from CLI again.
Maxim:
7-Mar-2012
4157
what is WNS ?
Pekr:
7-Mar-2012
4158
This happen when the handshake protocol is not described anywhere,
sucks big time, to do all the guesses.
Andreas:
7-Mar-2012
4159
The "world name server".
Maxim:
7-Mar-2012
4160
ah ok.
Gregg:
7-Mar-2012
4161
Give me a minute.
Henrik:
7-Mar-2012
4162
Done!
Maxim:

I am writing my own OS PHIAL/INTERCOSMIC. A first test version is
not ready yet. :) It should include its own special visual language
(a VL).
Evgeniy Philippov:
19-Apr-2012
4167
Firstly, I am writing a HDD installer. :) It must be accurate, not
to damage the outside data.
Evgeniy Philippov:
19-Apr-2012
4168
I've started to program this and understood. That phial - is not
what I need. "Phial" is science, research, chemistry, bad. I need
simply INTERCOSMIC LIFE.
Evgeniy Philippov:
19-Apr-2012
4169
what do you think on the name? Also, INTERCOSMIC DHARMA OF LIFE is
interesting. How you call the yacht, the same this way it will travel.
Evgeniy Philippov:
19-Apr-2012
4170
Strange abbreviation: IDOL. Very surprising.
Gregg:
21-Apr-2012
4171
Hi Evgeniy. You might want to post on REBOL4. Many people have moved
there from this world.
Gregg:

4172
No names spring to mind. Maybe the picture is too vauge for me.
Gregg:
21-Apr-2012

Hi Doc, I know you'Re working on the lexer and I asked myself if
you would use some toolset like the Coco/R compiler generator to
help you for the next phase (parsing)? It seems it has already been
converted for many other languages. Here are the links for the user
manual and the other resources for using it if necessary ... http://www.ssw.uni-linz.ac.at/Coco/Doc/UserManual.pdf
