[!AltME] Discussion about AltME
older newer | first last |
BrianH 15-Jul-2005 [672] | I'm sure this is a stupid question, but how do you enter a return (newline) into an AltMe entry directly, without precomposing your entry in a text editor or some such? |
Graham 15-Jul-2005 [673x2] | use the pen icon |
to switch between using return to control-S to send your message (sic).
BrianH 15-Jul-2005 [675] | There you go, it was a stupid question afterall :) |
Graham 15-Jul-2005 [676] | :) |
BrianH 15-Jul-2005 [677] | Those icons should have tooltips or some such. |
Graham 15-Jul-2005 [678] | Chinese doesn't need tooltips ! |
BrianH 15-Jul-2005 [679] | It would for me, as I can't read it :) |
Graham 15-Jul-2005 [680x2] | Sorry, being sarcastic. There's a little gulf between the developers of Altme and the users regarding some usability issues. |
Maybe the new version of Altme being worked on currrently will address these issues
BrianH 15-Jul-2005 [682x2] | I noticed that there is a status line in the upper left that works for these, but I didn't notice it until I was looking at the icons in the upper left. When looking at the lower icons, that status line was out of me field of vision, so it might as well have not existed. |
replace "me" "my" | |
Graham 15-Jul-2005 [684] | Yeah .. like the red on your name if someone messages you .. way out of your central vision, and therefore notice. So, an alert that is placed outside your notice seems self defeating. |
Robert 18-Jul-2005 [685x4] | I have found the problem, why I can't login to AltME / Rebol3 world, while my firewall is active: The filewall recognizes the response as a backdoor for a trojan "bladerunner". Take a look at: http://www.digitaltrust.it/arachnids/IDS110/signatures.html |
And Rebol3 is using port 5400.
As soon as I'm logged in, I can active the firewall again without any problems. The firewall I use is kerio on Windows.
Rebol-HQ world uses port 5402, there are no problems at all.
Pekr 18-Jul-2005 [689] | Kerio - Czech guys :-) |
Robert 18-Jul-2005 [690] | Yes, and I use Servant Salamander CZ too. Very good stuff. |
Pekr 18-Jul-2005 [691] | Servant? I prefer Total Commander - well, I am used to it, that is all ... |
Robert 18-Jul-2005 [692] | Take a look at Salamander, much cooler, smoother than TC. Salamander is one of the best tools I know. |
Pekr 18-Jul-2005 [693] | OK, I will take a look. I looked into it briefly some three or so years ago, but it did not feature FTP, so I left it ... |
Robert 18-Jul-2005 [694] | It now has FTP |
yeksoon 18-Jul-2005 [695x2] | >>me<< also a Salamander user |
and they have SFTP as well
Luca 1-Aug-2005 [697] | Is AltMe working fine thru proxy servers? Today I tryed to use it at work but I couldn't connect. |
Graham 1-Aug-2005 [698] | doesn't work for me thru a proxy server |
Luca 1-Aug-2005 [699] | :-( You answered to all my doubts. |
Ingo 3-Aug-2005 [700x2] | RE: discussion on AltME in Accounts group ... Hi Reichart: no, small trusted groups aren't bad. Only planning for them is - if you are not 100% sure that you will grow. And yes, Volker and Petr said it all. |
that you will NEVER grow
shadwolf 5-Aug-2005 [702] | Now that we have MacOSX version of rebol/View when do is it scheduled to release an ALTME Client for MAcOSX ? |
Henrik 5-Aug-2005 [703x2] | we do? where? :-) |
oh, found it! | |
Pekr 5-Aug-2005 [705] | where? :-) |
Henrik 5-Aug-2005 [706] | http://www.rebol.net/builds/024/plus a big ALPHA qyality warning on the files page |
Pekr 5-Aug-2005 [707] | ah, yes, rebview beta - nice ... |
shadwolf 5-Aug-2005 [708] | MAC OSX REBOL/VIEW : http://www.rebol.net/builds/024/rebview1300124b |
Pekr 5-Aug-2005 [709x2] | ah, strange mimetype - mozilla displays me binary junk, instead of offering me download ... |
rebview1300124b | |
shadwolf 5-Aug-2005 [711] | this shows we are on hollydays because this primordial information have not been displayed to ppl |
Henrik 5-Aug-2005 [712] | it's been there for two days. why was this not announced in Announce? |
Pekr 5-Aug-2005 [713] | so, guys, not having OX-X here ... could you give it a test drive and post onto OS-X group here? |
shadwolf 5-Aug-2005 [714] | Because Hollydays I guess |
Pekr 5-Aug-2005 [715] | Holy-days? :-) OS-X version finally coming? :-) |
Henrik 5-Aug-2005 [716] | ok, I've already found a bug :-) User setup doesn't scroll |
Pekr 5-Aug-2005 [717x2] | maybe because Mac's mouse does not have scroll button? :-) |
let's move reports to OS-X group ...
Sunanda 6-Aug-2005 [719] | Reichart 24-mar: <<So our next update is coming along, aside from any features we are planning to include in the next build of AltME, we are looking for a new top 10 list of features or bugs for an interim release. >> Any more news on this, please? |
Gabriele 6-Aug-2005 [720x2] | not announced... because it's alpha stage. still in development, and missing very important features (i.e. face/rate does NOT work yet) |
anyway, altme requires the sdk, not just view. :)
