[!AltME] Discussion about AltME
older newer | first last |
Brock 20-Nov-2006 [1890] | duplicated for me |
Ingo 20-Nov-2006 [1891] | There's no reason to go into hibernate, too, ... view will crash on wake ap anyways ... |
[unknown: 10] 20-Nov-2006 [1892x2] | not under linux.. :-) |
I recall that frimly ;-)
Ingo 20-Nov-2006 [1894] | Aaahh, yes ... on the other hand, so far I haven't been able to make my laptop go into hibernate mode under linux - it's stalemate I guess ;-) |
Gabriele 20-Nov-2006 [1895] | mmm, i use hibernate under windows, and i don't remember any view crashes. |
Louis 20-Nov-2006 [1896] | Same here. I use hibernate every day and it never causes View to crash on my machine. |
yeksoon 20-Nov-2006 [1897] | I have submitted a feedback to 'AltMe'... and doing a search on RAMBO to see if there is an entry for this as well. |
Anton 20-Nov-2006 [1898] | I experienced View crashes with hibernate on Windows. But it seems to me if the window is minimized before hibernate it's more stable. |
Izkata 21-Nov-2006 [1899] | Hibernate on Windows causes unexpected behavior, but no crashes for me |
Cyphre 21-Nov-2006 [1900] | The View crash when system resolution changes under Windows is well known bug. I guess Rebol is not properly handling the WM_DISPLAYCHANGE event of WinOS. |
Pekr 21-Nov-2006 [1901] | IMO View OS wrapper should be strenghtened in general. It would not hurt to properly detect two monitors or TV output, if possible. I can see that MANY apps get it incorrectly, e.g. they simply call center-screen or such a function, and half of the dialog box is on one string, the other half is on second one :-) |
Gregg 24-Nov-2006 [1902] | Is anyone else using 1.2.9 and seeing their Send mode (enter or ctrl+s) stuck, so you can't change it? I can click the button, but it won't chagne the setting. |
[unknown: 5] 24-Nov-2006 [1903x2] | Yes same here Gregg |
I got 1.2.9 | |
Gregg 24-Nov-2006 [1905x2] | DOH! It's me. I was clicking the wrong button. It's the pencel, not the button next to the text. |
I only have to change it when I use a new world, so I always forget that. I think I've mentioned before that it's a poor UI layout for that.
[unknown: 5] 24-Nov-2006 [1907] | Ah same here. I thought it was that other one as well. |
Gregg 24-Nov-2006 [1908x2] | Partly because the status is so far away from where your context is. |
At least it wasn't just me that was confused. :-) Thanks Paul.
[unknown: 5] 24-Nov-2006 [1910x3] | Yep I was thinking the same thing |
np | |
:) | |
[unknown: 10] 24-Nov-2006 [1913x2] | altme 1.1.29 linux crashes during startup when the linux sound-daemon is already occupied by another application and altme uses sound..occeured using the oss sound daemon.. |

Alan 24-Nov-2006 [1915] | tried using Alsa instead ? on my Mandriva 2007 Altme install I don't have the sound prefs running so not really sure if it works |
Alberto 11-Dec-2006 [1916x3] | Is possible to start an altme world server from a non-graphical enviroment like the linux shell |
?? | |
Sorry if is OT, I was unable to found the answer inside the AltME home page...
Graham 11-Dec-2006 [1919] | I believe you can. |
Tomc 11-Dec-2006 [1920] | Alberto: No not without their server version. |
Graham 11-Dec-2006 [1921] | That's the one I was referring to. |
Alberto 12-Dec-2006 [1922] | I suspected that... Anyway thanks to Tomc and Graham. |
JaimeVargas 20-Dec-2006 [1923] | (in need altme to correct my speeling, reichart are you listening) |
Rebolek 20-Dec-2006 [1924] | he's probably going to tell you that you should request it via feedback ;) |
[unknown: 9] 20-Dec-2006 [1925x2] | Yup... |
Formal channels ensure everything is logged.
BrianW 29-Dec-2006 [1927] | Is there an AltME preference setting for fonts? I have the same font issue w/altme on Linux that I described on the mailing list, but no convenient altme/user.r file to fiddle with |
[unknown: 9] 29-Dec-2006 [1928] | Sadly no, this is a deep issue with Rebol/Linux/Fonts |
BrianW 29-Dec-2006 [1929] | Ah well, that's what I was expecting. Sticking with altme in VMWare and the Viewtop on Linux for now. |
PeterWood 2-Jan-2007 [1930] | Are the problems with scrolling on Windows a Rebol/View problem or an AltME problem? I don't seem to get the problem on Linux. |
Janeks 8-Jan-2007 [1931x2] | Is it possible to start AltMe so that it will start a preset world? |

Maxim 8-Jan-2007 [1936] | and in your prefs, you can set it to auto-return to last visited world in your user setup. |
[unknown: 9] 8-Jan-2007 [1937] | Janeks, do you know that you can right click on groups...and then make it private, then select people that are part of teh word? |
Janeks 8-Jan-2007 [1938x2] | I would like to START world not login in the world automaticly! |
