I haven't worked on any SourceForge projects in a big way, so I can't
say how effective they are. It may depend on how you choose to set up
the project (e.g. do you depend on everyone using CVS, etc.). If you
want it to be totally open, it might be a good way to go; otherwise,
maybe look at something like Gabriele's company for hosting an IOS
server and having a public web presence for releases. I don't know how
much work it is to set up and maintain a SourceForge project either.
