Hi Jason,
We could be twins. I tend to specialize and follow areas that interest me,
which then somehow always seem to be useful. I spent a lot of time on the
technology treadmill from Windows 2.11 to NT4, at which point I got really
tired of trying to keep up with all the little changes in the API, what
worked on which specific version, new APIs that were added, etc. I want to
spend my time making things *better* instead of just trying to keep them
working. :)
When we're flush, I also buy a *lot* of books but, like you, I'm pinching
pennies (hence no encap for me yet). Last year I deciced that .net was not
where I wanted to spend my time (after being a BASIC hound from QB4 through
VB6). I dove into REBOL, and...all my work dried up. But, things happen for
a reason. If it had played out differently, I might not have spent the time
I have with REBOL and would be missing all the fun. :)
