shadwolf: 8-Jun-2005 | to share audio and video we need 3 things 1) the shoutcast server (configured properly but this not the most enoyant part) www.shoutcast.com/ 2) the NSV Tools that is used to share video stream from the webcam (use the VP3 encoder for video) and from the microphone (MP3 Lame encoder) 3) client use winamp software to see and listen the intervention in the conference ;)
shadwolf: 7-Jul-2005 | for a windows based OS you can use Shoutcast to broadcast audio/video streaming and the NSV TOOLS doftware to set up the audiovideo formats for the acquisition from you webcam and audio consol. The point is that shoutcast audio / video quality is far better than Quicktime ... higher resolution higher depth lesser bandwidth used (audio = mp3 video = null software video format)
Henrik: 6-Aug-2005 | vlc can also stream video, but I don't know if it can grab from a webcam
Pekr: 30-Sep-2005 | heh, great - why not to have virtual rebol conference then? Everybody will buy their drink, install webcam in their room, we can code some nice View app for that :-)

[unknown: 9]: 21-Jul-2007 | Just to be clear, I'm lamenting the time Doc needs to waste. For example, I moved my WebCAm from one USB port on my PC to another on the same PC. This apparently made Windows think it needed to reload the entire installer for the drivers..............................something like 50 megs, plus about 15 minutes. WTF!?! Earlier today I wanted to VNC into an office. 2 hours, and several IT people, and it was 5 seconds per frame update. WTF!?! I'm tired of working out simple problems over and over again…

NickA: 12-Dec-2008 | Hi Paul - yes, I've been lurking via html :) Off topic: I dabbled a bit with the Windows API and have a simple working webcam viewer, and also a working remote video client that produces usable video from simple image refreshes. I need to explore the audio api to understand how to capture and pass audio frames across the net - I've got plenty of code from other languages - just need to convert all those api calls to Rebol and see if there are any performance issues, but I suspect that a very simple point-to-point app like that could work in Rebol2. To make it practical for real use, there'd need to be a little server/repeater app to pass data back and forth between clients that are behind routers. Not so crazy difficult, I don't think...
Pekr: 17-Dec-2008 | uh, got Vista reinstalled last week, need to set-up my webcam once again, Skype too .... damned Windows ... so much wasting my time ...

NickA: 23-Jun-2010 | I'd like to pay someone to help me write a videoconference application in R2. I've got a little VOIP script already working at http://www.rebol.org/view-script.r?script=intercom.r . Using the Windows MCI API that I knew, that simply writes a wav file to a file, and then transfers it. I need a Windows/REBOL guru to help me continuously retrieve wave data in memory, to avoid gaps and delays in the sound. Same thing with video. My webcam script can only write images to a file - I need to have some Windows API code written to do it all in memory, without the delays associated with writing to a file. Amount: Please suggest an estimated amount

Dockimbel: 12-Oct-2011 | IIRC, there's a Google Hangout browser plugin to download to enable the webcam. |
