Henrik 3-Jun-2011 [6220x3] | Yet another stream here: http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/03/amateur-copenhagen-suborbitals-team-about-to-send-a-dummy-into-s/ |
looks like the only problem now is to get remaining ships out of the area.
launch in a few seconds...
Pekr 3-Jun-2011 [6223] | aaaand .... nothing? :-) |
Henrik 3-Jun-2011 [6224] | auto launch sequence did not start. restarting. |
Pekr 3-Jun-2011 [6225] | I wonder how difficult it is to get an agreement, to do such a thing. What if the rocket fails, and falls to some crowded town area? |
Henrik 3-Jun-2011 [6226] | it does not. it only has fuel to go 16 kilometers up and the area that it can fall in is rather large. |
Pekr 3-Jun-2011 [6227] | It's out :-) |
Henrik 3-Jun-2011 [6228x5] | stream is behind here... still launch trouble. |
but it did lift off and is now coming down again.
parachute did not work properly
http://nyhederne.tv2.dk/article.php/id-40443611%3Alive-raket-sendt-af-sted-med-succes.html Launch footage here.
A couple of pics from the launch pad: http://ing.dk/artikel/119783-se-de-foerste-billeder-af-raketaffyring-taget-fra-sputnik#0
Pekr 6-Jun-2011 [6233] | Henrik - the project got publicity on our Technet site, which is part of the biggest online Czech News server ( http://www.idnes.cz ) - http://technet.idnes.cz/do-vesmiru-na-stojaka-odstartovala-raketa-ve-ktere-pilot-stoji-p79-/tec_vesmir.aspx?c=A110606_102935_tec_vesmir_mla |
Henrik 6-Jun-2011 [6234] | cool |
Gregg 16-Jun-2011 [6235] | Testing Chromium: AddressSanitizer, a fast memory error detector. http://blog.chromium.org/2011/06/testing-chromium-addresssanitizer-fast.html |
Dockimbel 18-Jun-2011 [6236] | Interesting, I could use the same approach for a memory debug mode in Red/System. |
Gabriele 19-Jun-2011 [6237] | i think REBOL does similar things (eg. the end! datatype), that's why you usually get an internal error rather than a crash when there is a GC bug. |
Henrik 21-Jun-2011 [6238] | Sony has been hacked 20 times in the past 2 months: http://blogs.forbes.com/andygreenberg/2011/06/20/in-sonys-20th-breach-in-two-months-hacker-claims-177000-sony-emails-compromised/ |
ddharing 21-Jun-2011 [6239] | Commodore USA has released a new video showing their office, production area and the progress of both the new Commodore 64 and the VIC-Slim. Here's the link: http://commodoreusa.net/CUSA_FacilityVideo.aspx |
Kaj 6-Aug-2011 [6240] | http://www.osnews.com/story/25035/Ode_to_the_Command_Line |
Endo 7-Aug-2011 [6241] | We can easily build a CLI dialect in REBOL to build a console: <move, copy, delete, send, show-all> find <what-to-search> in <path-to-folder> <copy-to-clipboard, print, send> find <what-to-search> in <file-name> it would be a nice project :) |
Kaj 7-Aug-2011 [6242] | Yes, and the broader point is that it can also be integrated as snippets in GUI apps |
Gregg 7-Aug-2011 [6243] | With support for sending commands via something like arexx ports. |
Reichart 7-Aug-2011 [6244] | Sometimes you just want to type out what you want the computer to do...... > Tag all photos taken in Maui with "Maui" |
Endo 7-Aug-2011 [6245] | Gregg: I was just thinking about the Arexx :) |
Kaj 8-Aug-2011 [6246] | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtb5EAG2gbc&NR=1 |
Henrik 25-Aug-2011 [6247] | Steve Jobs resigns as CEO: http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/11/08/24/steve_jobs_resigns_as_apple_ceo.html |
ddharing 25-Aug-2011 [6248] | The end of an era. |
Kaj 25-Aug-2011 [6249] | Probably the end of Apple as we know it |
Pekr 25-Aug-2011 [6250] | I don't think so. He still is going to be the head of the board of directors,no? |
Kaj 25-Aug-2011 [6251] | It means he's admitting that he's going downhill. And remember the organisation chart Doc found a while ago? |
ddharing 25-Aug-2011 [6252x2] | Yes, he is still the chairman. |
What did the chart show?
Kaj 25-Aug-2011 [6254] | A spider web, where everyone in the organisation is controlled by one head |
ddharing 25-Aug-2011 [6255x2] | That sounds like Steve Jobs. |
Hopefully his health will improve over time.
Kaj 25-Aug-2011 [6257] | I'm sure he was hoping for that in the past few years |
Pekr 25-Aug-2011 [6258] | I have heard that pancreas cancer is one of the worst cancer diagnosis, not curable. But of course, I wish him a recovery, who knows what's possible in terms of nowaday's medicine ... |
Henrik 25-Aug-2011 [6259] | I don't think he would have resigned unless doctors were now telling him to "get his affairs in order". |
AdrianS 25-Aug-2011 [6260] | I agree - cancer can take you down really quickly sometimes. The federal leader of the opposition here in Canada went from winning second place in the election in May to succumbing to the disease earlier this week. |
Henrik 30-Aug-2011 [6261] | Raspberry Pi runs Quake 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_mDuJuvZjI |
onetom 30-Aug-2011 [6262x2] | a little lighter topic: http://www.sublimetext.com/2 the best generic code editor ever and it's CROSS PLATFORM since the beginning of the year and it's beta already! im using it for a day and no bugs so far. it costs 60 USD to get rid of the "buy me" dialog after every 50th save, but that's the only pain point, i think. here is the list why i love it: - knows save on focus lost - have the intelligent filename search (with instant file preview!!!) - can open full folders (no need to create a project for it explicitely!!!...) - handles proportional fonts - handles double width characters (chinese for example) - beautiful default color scheme with black background - distraction free "zen" mode - no stupid dialog box config - cross platform; which is good because - i can remote control less advanced users no matter what is their platform - i can use the same interface and shortcuts on every platform; no annoyance on switching - not extremely bloated yet... |
textmate eats less memory and the initial load time is shorter, but it's mac only, doesnt handle double with characters and gets confused by the proportional font too.
AdrianS 30-Aug-2011 [6264] | +1 for Sublime Edit 2 |
onetom 30-Aug-2011 [6265x2] | AdrianS: do u have an updated version of the rebol syntax definition for it? the one i found in some article from last year doesnt seem to color it nicely. i can only see the strings, files colored but not any default words. also what is the recommended way to prioretize the rebol syntax as the default over the R one? |
btw, im using Verdana as the proportional font for source code. does anyone else have a better recommendation?
Pekr 30-Aug-2011 [6267] | Can it do vertical/column selection? |
TomBon 30-Aug-2011 [6268x2] | no code folding... |
but the minimap leftside looks like a nice feature. would like to have this with scite.
