Henrik 16-Feb-2007 [1871] | BrianH, artists? you mean the record companies? I doubt the artists have much to say about this. |
Graham 16-Feb-2007 [1872] | removing DRM would be a big plus for Apple vs MS |
Henrik 16-Feb-2007 [1873] | graham, what menu, explain? |
Graham 16-Feb-2007 [1874x2] | often without the intention on my part, these icons fly in from outer screen and cover my main windown |
I have to click on the working application to make them go away
Henrik 16-Feb-2007 [1876] | the dashboard? |
Graham 16-Feb-2007 [1877] | dunno what it's called.... apart from annoying |
Henrik 16-Feb-2007 [1878] | if you press F12, does the same happen? |
Graham 16-Feb-2007 [1879] | dunno .. at present I'm only using the Mac to watch House MD that I've downloaded ... |
Henrik 16-Feb-2007 [1880x2] | make sure that no mouse gestures are enabled for dashboard then. |
you can do that in system preferences
BrianH 16-Feb-2007 [1882] | If an artist or label wants to sell music on iTunes with no DRM, Apple won't do it. There are documented cases for this, for which I am too lazy to provide a link. |
Graham 16-Feb-2007 [1883] | Ok, that sounds like something I should do ... |
Henrik 16-Feb-2007 [1884] | BrianH, it might be a contractual issue. I'd bet that those contracts are rather hairy. |
Graham 16-Feb-2007 [1885x2] | VLC keeps crashing with an error requester if I keep using the remote to pause the movie .. to explain to my daughter some esoteric medical thing ..! |
At least Safari seems stable ... not like Firefox on Windows
Henrik 16-Feb-2007 [1887] | VLC under OSX is unfortunately very unstable. it's annoying. |
Maxim 16-Feb-2007 [1888] | graham, since v1.5 firefox has never crashed for me, when it used to crash about 5 times a day beforehand. v2 seems even better. |
Volker 18-Feb-2007 [1889] | better than 0 crashes? :D |
Maxim 19-Feb-2007 [1890] | hehe... v2 seems to have less "issues" which are not related to crashes... refresh bugs and things like that :-) |
Maxim 23-Feb-2007 [1891] | although I dont like MS... this is not a just ruling ! http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/02/23/microsoft_alcatel_patent/ |
Pekr 1-Mar-2007 [1892] | Adobe to take Photoshop online - http://news.com.com/2100-7345_3-6163015.html |
Henrik 1-Mar-2007 [1893] | http://xdev.org/etoile/<--- Etoilé desktop live CD available |
Mchean 1-Mar-2007 [1894] | Henrik - what is etoile? |
Henrik 1-Mar-2007 [1895] | it's a kind of a desktop... it claims to want to change the way one works with applications and documents. I haven't figured out how this works yet. The reason I'm interested in it is that it's GNUstep based. |
Oldes 9-Mar-2007 [1896x2] | Javascript port of Markdown -> http://www.attacklab.net/showdown-gui.html |
We really need stable Rebol plugin:(
Maxim 9-Mar-2007 [1898x2] | Oldes, I have a commercial app online and its one of the most advanced scripts I've ever written. it does web-service access in the bg doing sync of ui with a remote app (much like altme) , in the same time it crawls the net, does searching and allows you to download actual content when you ask for it... all simultaneously and using glayout too... |
as many have said before... R2 and current plugin are great tools. why are you keeping from using them?
Pekr 9-Mar-2007 [1900] | Maxim - damned proxy support! |
Maxim 9-Mar-2007 [1901] | ah |
Pekr 9-Mar-2007 [1902] | ... and we were SO close. Josh had it solved, then he announced Carl redirected him to something else, then he was about to post some security related doc - that never happened. |
Maxim 9-Mar-2007 [1903x8] | well that's not just the plugin then. |
(proxy) | |
I agree that the no 1 problem of RT is not the technology... it the management of priorites and schedules and stuff like that.
hum... starting to make me thing of another great technology which had the same issues... yet was 10 years in advance ;-)
just like REBOL | |
(amiga anyone) | |
at least we know the reasons are not the same and that RT itself is good willed.
just need more indians ... but not enough food to feed them I guess.
btiffin 16-Apr-2007 [1911] | Hi, Skype has a worm now... http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2007/04/16/tech-securitymsskypewindowszonealarm-20070416.html In case you haven't seen it yet... |
Anton 17-Apr-2007 [1912] | oh dear |
Gabriele 17-Apr-2007 [1913] | you still have to click on it... |
Pekr 17-Apr-2007 [1914] | Microsoft has given a go-to-market name for its cross-platform, cross-browser plug-in for delivering the next generation of user experiences and rich Internet applications for the Web. The technology formerly known as WPF/E is now known as Silverlight - http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,2114418,00.asp |
Maxim 17-Apr-2007 [1915] | with R3... I think they might have another competitor they are not aware of yet ;-) |
Pekr 17-Apr-2007 [1916] | then let's hope some of View issues are adressed (keyboard, make events (Gabriele confirmed this one), refresh rate, rich text, etc.) |
Maxim 17-Apr-2007 [1917x2] | pekr, since should be able to fix most of those ourselves (for those who need to address the issues for real), then I see R3 as a bright beacon in my future. |
I've already been thinking of doing some integration with .net.
Pekr 17-Apr-2007 [1919] | it is a pity Carl does not visit altme from time to time. I miss blog capability of "suggest a blog topic", which was promissed a bit ... I would like to know, what's in the pipe for View ... will Desktop be enhanced? Reworked? Removed? The same goes for VID - should it be part of View? Or an external module? Should View contain only generic gfx functions? (kind of face) |
Maxim 17-Apr-2007 [1920] | .net just cause it would help me push rebol into more use. |
