[DevCon2005] DevCon 2005
older newer | first last |
Maxim 19-Jun-2005 [165] | someone has to take charge and decide and become the focal point of the organisation, otherwise its going to become hard to get there.... airfares cost more as deadlines are closer... |
Graham 19-Jun-2005 [166] | But often hotels become cheaper the closer to the deadline. |
Gabriele 20-Jun-2005 [167] | so far 8 people sent in the survey email. we need a bit more to decide for dates and so on. |
yeksoon 20-Jun-2005 [168] | did u try sending the survey to other 'interest' groups |
Gabriele 20-Jun-2005 [169x2] | not yet. i'd like to get the feedback from the rebolers first, then make up a plan based on that. |
reason: first of all, the devcon is for rebolers first, others second. second, we need speakers, otherwise there's no point in having other people coming; if we have no speakers, then let's just make a "meeting" or "party" or whatever you want to call it.
Robert 22-Jun-2005 [171] | last week in September otherwise I can't attend ;-). |
yeksoon 22-Jun-2005 [172x2] | 'Sept' shall be fix a Rebol DevCon month |
so, future devcon should not deviate from it too far off. +- half a week
Gabriele 22-Jun-2005 [174x2] | last week means Sep 26th - Oct 2nd? |
if so - do the others that selected 19-25 have a problem with that?
Robert 22-Jun-2005 [176] | Weekend 24/25 would be OK too :-)) |
Gabriele 22-Jun-2005 [177] | i'm asking because a lot selected 26-2 too. i haven't counted the submissions yet, as they are still coming. |
eFishAnt 22-Jun-2005 [178] | I prefer Sep 26-Oct2nd...my 2cents worth |
Allen 22-Jun-2005 [179] | Late Sept / Early Oct is 10% cheaper in airfares from here., is it the same for others? |
Ammon 22-Jun-2005 [180] | I know I selected 19-25 but 26-2 would be kewl too |
Maxim 22-Jun-2005 [181] | if I am to attend, the 26-2 would be best for me. |
MichaelB 23-Jun-2005 [182] | Even if I send 19-25, most probably 26-2 is ok for me too - can't plan anyway ahead right now. |
JaimeVargas 23-Jun-2005 [183] | Anytime is good for me. |
Ashley 23-Jun-2005 [184] | Ditto. |
Gabriele 28-Jun-2005 [185x2] | to speakers: i'd like to prepare a list, with arguments and so on, for the public. so please contact me. :) |

eFishAnt 5-Jul-2005 [187] | What is the best airport for Milan (maybe there are 4 of them? |
PeterWood 5-Jul-2005 [188x4] | To save you waiting until tomorrow for an answer from Gabriele - Malpensa is the main airport for Milan. |
I'm sure Gabriele will correct if I'm wrong.
If I remember correctly Linate is a long way from Milan.
One of my favourite restaurants is in Milan - La Brisa - it's somewhere between il Duomo and the station.
eFishAnt 5-Jul-2005 [192x3] | not the best map, but I think I found Milan, Treviglio, and the airport in-between http://www.maporama.com/affiliates/popup/share/Map.asp?SESSIONID={E711FE54-B9BB-4D1C-BCB7-FD1C82113A3B}&ZoomSet=9 |

sorry, the { before the E7 gets goofed up...:-\
Gabriele 6-Jul-2005 [195x4] | Yep, Maplensa is the main airport now (Linate used to be). Actually Linate is closer to Milan, but Malpensa is bigger and newer. |
Updated! http://www.colellachiara.com/devcon05/
Speakers: could you please send me a text similar to the one provided by Maarten? Thanks!
Also... anyone not yet in the list that wants to be a speaker should contact me ASAP!
Guest 6-Jul-2005 [199] | I would change the "How to come" title for "Directions" :-> |
Gabriele 6-Jul-2005 [200x2] | good idea - done! |
also... i need feedback on the proposed visit plans. let me know your opinion. if they seem ok i can contact hotels and so on and prepare a registration form (for reservations) with prices and so on.
shadwolf 7-Jul-2005 [202x2] | Gabriele do you plan to retransmit throught internet the devcon like it have been done last year ?? If yes the best tool possible would be NSV and NullSoft Shoutcast serveur (but it depends too on the disponnible materials :) |
or it can be done too like how they made it last year
Gabriele 7-Jul-2005 [204] | isn't shoutcast audio only? |
JaimeVargas 7-Jul-2005 [205] | I think QuickTime still the easiest. The only problem we have last time was the lack of a good micro-phone. IMO thats the most vital part. |
shadwolf 7-Jul-2005 [206x6] | Gabriele no audio and video ;) |
depending on the OS ;) | |
for a windows based OS you can use Shoutcast to broadcast audio/video streaming and the NSV TOOLS doftware to set up the audiovideo formats for the acquisition from you webcam and audio consol. The point is that shoutcast audio / video quality is far better than Quicktime ... higher resolution higher depth lesser bandwidth used (audio = mp3 video = null software video format)
On windows | |
NSV-TOOLS software will connect to the shoutcast server and automatically display to client what he is acquiring
If you want I can make a show room using my pc :)
eFishAnt 7-Jul-2005 [212] | yes, the microphone, although a "professional" wireless audiophile system was junk...miocopa, miocopa |
shadwolf 7-Jul-2005 [213x2] | NSVTOOLS download http://www.nullsoft.com/nsv/nsvtools-setup.exe |
for windows 2k and XP | |
