[!AltME] Discussion about AltME
older newer | first last |
Graham 1-Mar-2006 [995x2] | Is there a way to remove all the reds from every user and group ??? |
I installed the beta, and things didn't go well. So I uninstalled and installed again. Now everything is red :(
Pekr 1-Mar-2006 [997x2] | hmm, running beta now too .... |
seems ok so far :-) | |
[unknown: 10] 1-Mar-2006 [999] | Aaaa guys.. why is Linux always running last for these great tools ? ;-( |
Pekr 1-Mar-2006 [1000x2] | but for altme to become really more adopted, world look-up port should be removed, as I can see it as unnecessary obstacle ... |
couldn't it be done via default 80 port plus cgi?
Graham 1-Mar-2006 [1002] | world lookup is so that they can control the licensing. |
Pekr 1-Mar-2006 [1003] | yes, but why does have to run it via special port? |
[unknown: 10] 1-Mar-2006 [1004] | Grham ..Is it a coinsidence that I like FileSharing very much in your Chat Applet and its now inside Altme ? ;-) |
Rebolek 1-Mar-2006 [1005] | AltMe files application is not available on this world... |
[unknown: 10] 1-Mar-2006 [1006x4] | Can smoeone send me the last 10 lines frmo this Group? It seemed to be lost while I was running the old Altme and the new at the same time.. |
untill Carls notification
Well almost complete this filesharing... If there would be a nice Password protection possible on shared files (Like the SHA exmaple from Carls Cookbook) the filesharing would be complete upto the level of privicy ...
...Shared files and stored with encoding... So let the newsgroups now misuse ALTME for anything ;-) Good for business though...
Graham 1-Mar-2006 [1010] | Rebolinth, I guess it's the situation of simultaneous separate development :) |
Alan 1-Mar-2006 [1011] | installed on top of the old with no problems |
Graham 1-Mar-2006 [1012] | hundreds of mouse clicks later .. I've cleared all the reds :( |
Henrik 1-Mar-2006 [1013] | yeah, any news on how close this beta is to final? |
james_nak 1-Mar-2006 [1014] | You'd think there would be a "clear-all" button. |
Henrik 1-Mar-2006 [1015] | I must request a feature to create source files directly within the filesharing area. if it works how I think it works, this could be used for a form of collaborative editing |
[unknown: 10] 1-Mar-2006 [1016] | Yes That was a feature request frmo 2 years ago from me too, Clear all unread messages with 1 click.. |
Henrik 1-Mar-2006 [1017] | I like the edit/publish methodology inside the filesharing area |
[unknown: 10] 1-Mar-2006 [1018] | I Wish I wendy I wanda.. there was a linux beta ;-) |
Carl 1-Mar-2006 [1019x2] | Q: Where should the clear-all button go? |
Q: Does the current REBOL/View 1.3.2 work ok on your Linux box?
Henrik 1-Mar-2006 [1021] | at the bottom possibly? how about making room for a button panel just below the list of groups. I think some of the options related to editing that list are a little too hidden |
[unknown: 10] 1-Mar-2006 [1022] | Yes here no real problems with the last rebview from sdk 262.. |
Frank 1-Mar-2006 [1023] | Yes 1.3.2 works on linux |
[unknown: 10] 1-Mar-2006 [1024] | exept for the Fonts in draw ofcourse |
Henrik 1-Mar-2006 [1025] | no problems with 1.3.2 under ubuntu linux here (not even the ubuntu version) |
Carl 1-Mar-2006 [1026] | So, are you using the Ubuntu version or the older lib version? |
[unknown: 10] 1-Mar-2006 [1027] | Im using "slackware 10.2" with libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 |
Henrik 1-Mar-2006 [1028] | just the older lib version, I haven't downloaded the ubuntu version at all... did you make the ubuntu version because of Hoary's lib problems? |
Carl 1-Mar-2006 [1029x2] | Actually, the older one no longer ran on half the Linux boxes here. |
So, question is, which one to pick for AltME build?
[unknown: 10] 1-Mar-2006 [1031] | ...Silence...tells more then words.... (well i could say take the latest 1.3.2 lib..) not easy for an outsider to descide ;-) |
james_nak 1-Mar-2006 [1032] | Carl, the Clear-All button could go in the "list options" though that's a bit hidden. |
[unknown: 10] 1-Mar-2006 [1033] | libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 is thought default in the kernels 2.4.26 and up i guess but not sure.. is hard to find that Lib as standalown ..(if you need it) |
Carl 1-Mar-2006 [1034] | There are a few other gotcha libs in the mix like. libXaw7.so.7 |
james_nak 1-Mar-2006 [1035] | You could also have a clear + date (up to ) feature. |
Carl 1-Mar-2006 [1036] | I've got a new debian distro that came in yesterday... let me see what it's got going. Back later with info. |
[unknown: 10] 1-Mar-2006 [1037x2] | debian and slackware are the two that dont mess with the original distribution when it comes to library's.. I guess it'll work.. |
a very nice example when programming on different linux distributions is to keep an Eye dies days on the "MALLOC_CHECK" environment setting or auto_make/config prebuild releases, this can cause lots of debugging pain because its able by default to supress core dump while it should not, and thats not always mentioned in the distributions your working on. ..any.. offtopic..
Tomc 1-Mar-2006 [1039x2] | seems you can't just build one linux version and claim liniux as a supported platform |
I would say at leasr tww maune three versions with different libraries
[unknown: 10] 1-Mar-2006 [1041] | ...redhat started it all...or was it YggDrasil ? ;-) |
Tomc 1-Mar-2006 [1042] | or we could compile our own |
Carl 1-Mar-2006 [1043] | Moving to linux group. |
Graham 1-Mar-2006 [1044] | Hmm. I quit normally, but when I logged on just now a whole bunch of groups came up red. Each of these groups, the messages are yellowed indicating that theyre old ie. no new messages. |
