[!AltME] Discussion about AltME
older newer | first last |
Ammon 9-Mar-2005 [407] | Aye, I'm fairly certain that that is what the Depot folder is about and they are going to be giving us info on it soon... |
[unknown: 9] 9-Mar-2005 [408] | SDK moved. |
Ammon 9-Mar-2005 [409] | thanks |
eFishAnt 9-Mar-2005 [410] | sorry about the s's above...was keying commands to an emulator and AltME focus grabbled them... |
[unknown: 9] 9-Mar-2005 [411] | I spent a few clock cycles on them thinking it was some puzzle. then something else shiny caught my attention. |
Izkata 10-Mar-2005 [412x2] | Yep Brian, that's it. I'm gonna try something.. I was looking around the AltMe folders, and found a file that looked like all it contained were dividers. I'll copy AltMe to a new folder (backup) and copy the Worldmaster one over my Custom on |
Well, AltMe didn't error, but it didn't change any dividers, either.. oh well
[unknown: 9] 10-Mar-2005 [414x3] | your welcome to mess with AltME's folders....but don't cry when something odd happens. |
We plan to clean it up, and write a paper that explains it all, for example, you can actually dump all your grpahics, and then replace them all.
Skinning AltME is actaully pretty easy. But not fully tested.
[unknown: 5] 10-Mar-2005 [417x2] | I got another request that I think will be cool. Add a private option to the calendar so that it can be run in a local mode so that the data isn't shared. I would think it would be easy to add it since the calendar is already created. |
Also, any chance of getting a standalone version of that Calendar :-)
Tomc 10-Mar-2005 [419] | assumming the next version of alrme allows multiple worlds open, I would like to be able to set which (if any) notifies you when it gets a message posted. |
Izkata 10-Mar-2005 [420] | Reichart, I made two copies of the AltME folder just in case something did mess up ^.- |
[unknown: 9] 10-Mar-2005 [421x4] | Paul, both are planned for the future AltME. |
Tomc, yup, planned. | |
Izkata............ :)
note: I don't tell you guys what is planned to annoy you, just in case it was taken that way, I just try to give you feedback so you know a) I'm listening, b) if we don't have it to add it to feedbackl.
yeksoon 10-Mar-2005 [425] | just out of curiousity... assuming skinning is supported.. is it skinning on a world-by-world basis? |
[unknown: 9] 10-Mar-2005 [426] | no, you can skin your own view. |
Anton 10-Mar-2005 [427x2] | prefs/prefs.txt, in the main altme dir, contains an entry "skin-dir: none" |
So it looks like it applies globally.
Graham 14-Mar-2005 [429] | Has anyone had any problems with getting Altme working thru a proxy? I go out of town once a month, and have to use a squid proxy. I can get IE, Firefox, and one of my own rebol apps to work thru the proxy, but not AltME. |
[unknown: 9] 14-Mar-2005 [430] | Have you filed in all the proxy settings? I'll assume so............perhaps you can send me all your settings so we can try to figure out why it might not work. |
Graham 14-Mar-2005 [431x2] | Yes, I did. And when I close Altme down, and restart it, the settings are always corrupted. |
There's no way to set the gateway in the proxy settings .. is that important ?
[unknown: 9] 14-Mar-2005 [433] | could be. |
Graham 14-Mar-2005 [434] | I just checked my own implementation .. I don't set the gateway and it works fine. |
[unknown: 9] 14-Mar-2005 [435] | Proxies are one of those things where every company has a slightly different way of getting bent out of shape about some format, so we figured we would test for one path, and then leanr what everyone else complained about. |
Graham 14-Mar-2005 [436] | I've got squid set up at home .. I'll try it on that first. |
[unknown: 9] 14-Mar-2005 [437] | but the data gets munged. That isnot good. |
Graham 14-Mar-2005 [438x2] | the squid setup at home is just to control the kids' internet access. |
I get the proxy ip address, type and port appear on the proxy server field.
Maxim 14-Mar-2005 [440x4] | cant get altme running on redhat v9.x ... is that normal? |
it loads, but gives me a script load error, as if it was not able to decrypt the code within...
and obviously returns to prompt...
gave feedback over a week ago, but still no reply...
[unknown: 9] 14-Mar-2005 [444] | We are looking. |
Maxim 14-Mar-2005 [445x2] | looking for the bug? |
I mean... does it work on other redhat releases?
Tomc 14-Mar-2005 [447] | it runs on redhat workstation 3 and doesnt dump cores till you exit |
[unknown: 9] 14-Mar-2005 [448] | Lots of people run Linux Redhat, but each flavour simply complicates things. |
Maxim 14-Mar-2005 [449x3] | any knoen libs, packages or compile options which must be set for it to work? |
note: rebol/view runs fine on those systems
knoen = known | |
[unknown: 9] 14-Mar-2005 [452] | Not that I'm aware of. |
Maxim 14-Mar-2005 [453] | is it a generalized SDK issue? I am thinking of using SDK on those machines... do you think its bound to fail? |
Tomc 14-Mar-2005 [454] | my instalation is strictly vanilla default |
[unknown: 9] 14-Mar-2005 [455] | Could. |
Maxim 14-Mar-2005 [456] | darn ! |
