[!AltME] Discussion about AltME
older newer | first last |
mhinson 30-May-2009 [3698] | Sunanda, thanks for the link. I had a good read of that and was surprised to not find any requests for keyboard shortcuts, paticularly the use of the arrow keys to scroll lists & text.. That would be my top request I think. |
Steeve 30-May-2009 [3699x2] | I wonder if the problem comes from people with a bad connection (like me). Strangly, each time my connection to internet makes a fuss, i can see complaints on Altme. o_o' |
And i'm only connected to that world
Reichart 30-May-2009 [3701x2] | The web is a flutter with how slow FaceBook is too... |
And for the exact time frame we have seen it heere too....hmmmm...
Graham 30-May-2009 [3703] | maybe this server needs to be reset or something. |
Chris 30-May-2009 [3704] | Perhaps the whole Internet really was busy? AltME's been telling it like it is... |
Maxim 31-May-2009 [3705] | messenger hasn't been giving me a hard time at all. neither has google chat. |
Graham 31-May-2009 [3706] | Just Cheyenne |
Anton 31-May-2009 [3707] | I've had a couple of dropped posts too, the past few days. |
Janko 31-May-2009 [3708] | Just to report that I also have problems with altme in last days "internet busy.." |
Oldes 31-May-2009 [3709] | Maybe it's the Google's Wave which makes Internet busy.. updating conversations of all the planet in real time.) |
Henrik 31-May-2009 [3710] | is it possible to check if the server is overloaded? are there problems with other worlds? |
Oldes 31-May-2009 [3711] | I just checked.. r3-alpha world is affected as well. (probably same machine) |
Pekr 31-May-2009 [3712] | It already happened in the past and IIRC someone called Carl and he restarted servers. I contacted him privately yesterday in R3 Chat. No reply so far, maybe RT is on vacation :-) |
Maxim 31-May-2009 [3713x2] | graham: LOL its behaving now. |
wasn't there an FTP group here before?
Graham 31-May-2009 [3715x2] | you're thinking of previous worlds |
I think there was once, and also a FTPgadget channel
Maxim 31-May-2009 [3717x4] | some code supplied from anton that I was about to use.... has disapeared... I'm pretty sure in was in a group called ftp |
I did a full search in altme and didn't find it.
nope ... discussions I had with anton this spring.
btw, IMHO, the current altme droppings aren't due to networking speed/internet woes ... right now, when I post I get a turnaround well below half a second. It almost feels instantaneous. still I must relog every so often, If I want to be syncing again. the server just stops responding after a few minutes. :-(
Graham 31-May-2009 [3721x4] | I think it's the server playing up ... not network issues per se |
still playing up today ...
17,000 posts in this world so far already this year, and only 18,000 for the whole of last year.
Must be the effect of R3 | |
Maxim 31-May-2009 [3725] | NB: with regards to Prefixing group names... just today... had the groups been prefixed, I would have found a post I have been looking for the better part of an hour... just cause I'd have noticed the group name next to network related groups... I actually looked at the name and never *clicked* it was a network group... ' : - / |
Graham 31-May-2009 [3726] | Use the search tool ... it's your friend |
Maxim 31-May-2009 [3727x2] | I did... 3 different searches... but didn't get to any thing that pointed to that post... |
just fell in between the cracks.
Graham 31-May-2009 [3729] | I searched for all posts by Anton with the word "progress" since the beginning of this year |
Maxim 1-Jun-2009 [3730x2] | as always... Carl passes by like a breeze hehehe |
wow.. that didn't drop! ;-)
Sunanda 1-Jun-2009 [3732] | Graham: <17,000 posts in this world so far already this year> That's [web-public] posts. Actual world size is around twice that (*), though I don't have a count of posts-by -year. (*) No one of us can know the precise world size --- we do not all see the private groups; nor do we all see the PMs between everyone. |
Gregg 2-Jun-2009 [3733x2] | I also have CDR for change-dir+to-rebol-file. |
Dang, wrong group. :-\ | |
Janko 2-Jun-2009 [3735] | I am really happy that it seems "internet busy" thing is gone .. I missed this place last days and it wasn't possible to be efectively here either |
Maxim 8-Jun-2009 [3736] | am I the only one getting sporadic Altme world outages? |
amacleod 8-Jun-2009 [3737] | no |
Sunanda 9-Jun-2009 [3738] | Saw an outage about 30 minutes ago.....Not sure when it started. |
RobertS 11-Jun-2009 [3739x2] | CommonTag has a press release |
http://www.prweb.com/releases/CommonTag/2009/prweb2522914.htm
Janko 12-Jun-2009 [3741] | one of the companies involved in this is Zemanta.. a startup from slovenia.. I've been at their place few times.. |
mhinson 18-Jun-2009 [3742] | AltME dropping out frequently for me during the last 5 hours or so. |
Henrik 18-Jun-2009 [3743] | same here |
Graham 18-Jun-2009 [3744] | Over the last day for me. |
Sunanda 19-Jun-2009 [3745] | Yes, me too --- AltME REBOL3 has gone erractic again....I am watching it connect and disconnect every few minutes. AltME's world check repeatedly shows it as available and then not responding(or not available) in a very short cycle: www.altme.com/check.html I've sent a feedback to RT about this. |
Henrik 19-Jun-2009 [3746] | Connection suddenly went stable here an hour ago. |
Sunanda 19-Jun-2009 [3747] | Looks good from here too. |
