Dockimbel 2-Feb-2009 [3171] | Indubitably, beer makes a great tool for a modern man. :-) |
Graham 2-Feb-2009 [3172] | zero sum games are for those people who can't add. |
Reichart 2-Feb-2009 [3173] | Right, that would be a drinking game : ) |
Reichart 3-Feb-2009 [3174] | I own REBOLCentral.org. I'm going to let it lapse unless anyone thinks we should do something with it. |
[unknown: 5] 3-Feb-2009 [3175x2] | Oh a change of heart - good to hear. |
Wow, just looked and my account here was created in November 21 2002, Can't believe it has been that long. Looks like a lot of us have been around here that long.
Graham 3-Feb-2009 [3177] | The last I heard about rebolcentral.org was that we were waiting for someone to come back from their honeymoon. |
DideC 4-Feb-2009 [3178x2] | Jesus walk on the water ?!!???!!!?? Rebolish !! Now I understand with BS was th most used group in this word (before BS-C). |
with=why | |
Reichart 4-Feb-2009 [3180] | Rebolish? |
DideC 4-Feb-2009 [3181] | Rebolish : humor ! With a "rebolcentral.org" domain name, I was surprised to fall on this "Jesus walk on water" page. Maybe "Rebol walk on the IT water" ?? |
Rebolek 4-Feb-2009 [3182] | I'm curious if anybody donated |
sqlab 4-Feb-2009 [3183] | Looks more like done by someone, who can not let pass up any chance to grab a dime from a fool.( |
Reichart 4-Feb-2009 [3184] | Many donate, but that is besides the point. I own a lot of domain names, and many we simply forward to "somewhere". Personal stuff I tend to forward to JWOW. The big question is, do we keep this domain. I will release if no one wants to use it. Otherwise I will pay to keep it and donate it to anyone here who has a good use for it (and WILL use it). |
sqlab 4-Feb-2009 [3185] | But why did you register that name? |
Graham 4-Feb-2009 [3186] | It was intended for a user based REBOL site for teaching etc from my recollection ... |
Reichart 5-Feb-2009 [3187] | It was intended to be a single place that would simply list all known REBOL resources. |
sqlab 5-Feb-2009 [3188x2] | this explain registering, but the name |
, but not the name | |
Gabriele 5-Feb-2009 [3190] | a single place with all rebol resources does not explain why it's called "rebolcentral"? |
Graham 5-Feb-2009 [3191] | What exactly is rebolcentral? A regular hosted account? Or do you have shell access and can run daemons etc? |
Reichart 5-Feb-2009 [3192x2] | Right now it is a name. |
Sqlab, I did not follow your point, or question perhaps...
sqlab 5-Feb-2009 [3194] | JesusWalksOnWater.com does not sound like a name for a central rebol repository. Maybe I do not get the joke. |
Maarten 5-Feb-2009 [3195] | I think RebolCentral is a great domain name to point to a centrally hosted open source repository |
sqlab 5-Feb-2009 [3196] | So we speak about different names/pages. |
Graham 5-Feb-2009 [3197] | Anton, there is no content on rebolcentral.org ... so Reichart just forwards it to jesuswalks as a joke. |
sqlab 5-Feb-2009 [3198] | bad joke |
[unknown: 5] 5-Feb-2009 [3199] | Nothing new or original. Not a joke either - he uses the link for defamation. |
Rebolek 5-Feb-2009 [3200] | I agree, bad joke. As whole book where this bad joke comes from. |
Reichart 5-Feb-2009 [3201x2] | Graham, not a joke, simply a process. To call it a joke implies forethought |
Graham, not a joke. It is simply grouped by process. A joke would imply there was forethought, then it could be a good or bad joke. Since it is not a joke in the first place, it can't be good, or bad. But, sure am glad that the real question on the table, the name itself, is being skipped here...would hate for anyone to actually address something of substance, but hey, look a shiny object LOL
Rebolek 5-Feb-2009 [3203] | I think it's a bad joke. The setting is not bad, people don't usualy walk on water, but then what? Does he catch some fish with bare hands? Or is there someone passing by, telling him "you can't walk on water" and after he realizes that, he sinks down? No, nothing. There's no punch line. Sorry, bad joke. |
Reichart 5-Feb-2009 [3204] | :) |
[unknown: 5] 5-Feb-2009 [3205] | The bright side is the Lord (the one that walks on water) will be saving Reichart some day. |
Reichart 5-Feb-2009 [3206] | But the "real" question is, are going to save REBOLCentral.org? |
[unknown: 5] 5-Feb-2009 [3207] | You mean you didn't get enough donations form the site button? LOL. |
Reichart 5-Feb-2009 [3208] | This is not about money, but about "group effort". |
Gregg 5-Feb-2009 [3209] | Let it lapse. If we decide we need it again, we can pick it up. If someone else picks it up, we'll use another name. |
Reichart 6-Feb-2009 [3210] | Several people have now posted to me privately that they would like to do something with it, which is cool, I will keep it for them... |
Graham 6-Feb-2009 [3211] | do you own the Jesuswalksonwater domain? And if so, do you use the donations to fund rebol development? :) |
Reichart 6-Feb-2009 [3212] | I do own JWOW, I do not use the donation for REBOL development, the only connection they have is we route all domains to one place. |
Graham 6-Feb-2009 [3213] | So, you use the money to fund the Christian Jihad ? |
Reichart 6-Feb-2009 [3214] | Would you like to take this to BS? |
Pekr 6-Feb-2009 [3215] | My take on rebolcentral.org - it is not a joke, but a blatant nonsense. I own rebol.cz for the same purpose, but in the meantime I am forwarding it to rebolweek at least. |
Reichart 6-Feb-2009 [3216] | Pekr, you have such a way with words... |
Pekr 6-Feb-2009 [3217] | I am aware what I said and with what attitude. I am used to be direct and stright, and I know that some ppl might have problem with my behavior. I got to such "state" with the work overload, which is not good, I know. But the less time I have, the faster I need to make my decisions, not having time for BS. So - your REBOL related domain redirection is really a bad move, no matter what. I do remember, how Amiga Inc. tried to protect their TM, so I wonder what would Carl say to above mentioned link. As a joke - OK, but other than that, I would not do it myself, from various reasons. And that is what I expect from others ... |
Reichart 6-Feb-2009 [3218] | Pekr, don't defend yourself, you are simply one of those people that justifies abhorrent behavior, And, of course we disagree, the more sites that refer to REBOL, and the more sites that can be used to direct people the better. And AGAIN, this has nothing to do with the link redirector, but rather the link itself. And this has nothing to do with asking "daddy" his thoughts, it has to do with the link itself, it has nothing to do with some grand scheme. You seem to "often" miss the issue on the table, and get sidetracked by some shiny object. |
[unknown: 5] 6-Feb-2009 [3219] | Well it seems that a lot of you have a problem with the use of rebolcentral.org. It only puts a disdain on REBOL, and I'm surprise that Carl would even favor the use of the name REBOL in such a manner even if he were an athiest. |
Pekr 6-Feb-2009 [3220] | Ah, often, right? I gave you an example - if you want to be usefull, you could as well point that domain to sites like rebol.org or rebolweek, so you defense of your motives does not work either. Besides that, then also other ppl here expressing the weirdness of linking of rebolcentral.org to JWOW are sidetracted, right ... |
