Seems some people can't count.  The top 10 wishes are populated with 
over 10 !
  What?

top ten should be labled 0-9

I can see two reasons why a top 10 could have more than10 entries 
in it.....


.....First, it is about ranking -- if 100 people graduate from a 
class, and 30 of them all have identical top scores, then the top 
1 position is held by 30 people.
Depending then on how you define "top 10": the top 10 is either:
* the top 30 graduates; or

* some larger number (the total graduates with the highest distinct 
ten scores -- which could be all of them).


Second,. it could be an unconscious homage to the 10 reasons why 
Base Camp Sucks (It seems the Base Camp developers also chose to 
disregard user priorities, but they at least deny requests as they 
are made rather than play mind games with the user community):

All jokes aside, Jason and I have exactly opposite philosophies...

  that is pretty rude....unfair, and untrue...shame....

Is it a peeve or a wish that the number of entries isn't shown iin 
an AltME checklist?

By virtue of being foolish enough to start the checklists, I've taken 
responsibility for tidying them up in the hope that we can present 
Reichart with a useful list he will honour-bound to seriously consider.

I'm happy for somebody else to do it.

I've downgraded the priority of Display of html links is a mess because 
no example of what a better display would look like is given.

I removed file sharing from the wishlist because AltME supports file 
sharing. As I understand it is the owner of the Rebol3 world who, 
so far, doesn't want to enable it.

I merged two peeves into Message highlighting lost on disconnection...I 
added the other into the details.

I found that most of the items on the wishlist to be very cryptic. 
If we really want something isn't it worth  writing a short explanation?

I downgraded the Mac OS X Version becuase there is already a beta 
version available.

Seeing messed up links depends partially on your window width -- 
so some people see them at times while others don't.

Don't know how the link above see others, but I know, that I don't

I actually forgot a pet peeve of mine: I hate the fact that red groups 
look very much like black groups on a bad monitor. I would rather 
have a graphic to show whichi group is read or not.

maybe possibility to do skinning (at least color settings) would 
solve this issue. But you must have really bad monitor if you have 
such a problem:-)

Oldes, maybe it can be because I'm also a bit red/green color blind. 
I really have to squint to see which group is red among a long list 
of black groups.

Sunanda, what I think is unfair (or more importantly untrue), is 
that we "disregard" anything...


Comparing us to BC, is simple rude.  We are the opposite.  There 
is an acerbic nature and spirit here, and I'm saddened by it.

The moment Tom posted me the lost list, I assigned someone in my 
company to help out and augment Peter's list to be complete with 
information eve from the past.

Is everyone upkeeping the top altme wishes checklist?   I just did 
a few little edits/changes... but I wonder if anyone is even aware 
they are there... does Reichart and gang look at this list?

There are still a lot of entries in the altme wishes list that have 
no description......the conclusion must be that they are not really 
wanted by anybody here as nobody can be bothered to write a couple 
of sentences to explain them.

The AltMEPeeves (or bug) list now identifies the top ten list .


If you can think of any just cause or impediment to the list, type 
now or forever hold your peace.

Seems reasonable.

Must say, that the links should be really fixed. It's the most confusing 
thing in Altme for me.

hum, somehow the "runs on solaris", should be removed from top 10... 
its simply not a possibility.

A wish is a wish and my guess is that the "runs on solaris" is actually 
very similiar to the wish for a "Core-based Server".

but in the top 10?  and its also impossible... so why  leave it there 
since this is really now a top 9?

At the moment it is at number 22 in the list of wishes ...so it doesn't 
reach my top ten.

At the moment, there are 13 peeves (bugs) and 73 wishes......it seems 
the list of peeves is just about agreed ...I've pushed "display of 
html links is a mess" into the top 5 Oldes....

So we can soon present them to Reichart.

I really believe that just fixing those ten will noticeably improve 
AltME as a product.

I think that it will take us a little longer to achieve the same 
degere of consensus on the wishes.

why is "run on solaris" impossible?

can solaris be encapped?

As the full wish says "Run on Sloaris no X11" - it may be that Maxim 
felt that would make it more than a little tricky to run the AltME 
clinet.

i had the detective encapped on solaris...

async dns does not work but everything else was working fine.

but has the 1.3.2 solaris encap ever been done?

no, but it could be done if it was really needed.

guess it depends how deeply your links to carl go  ;-)

we're talking about altme... :)

and... building just the server should be easy enough to do.

hum... but I had understood that the client was the request... I 
guess a core only server would be better still  :-)
