[!AltME] Discussion about AltME

Graham 31-Jan-2007 [2108] | are we up to 10 peeves yet ?? |
[unknown: 9] 31-Jan-2007 [2109] | When you guys have your Top 10, - AND - you all agree to the list, then we will attack it : ) |
Graham 31-Jan-2007 [2110] | all = Ingo and Me |
[unknown: 9] 31-Jan-2007 [2111] | I think Tom, Henrik, and others would like to be included... |
Graham 31-Jan-2007 [2112] | aww... is this some kind of democrazy ? |
[unknown: 9] 31-Jan-2007 [2113x2] | Yes, and I plan to abuse its shortcoming LOL |
The great thing about a democracy is that it disfavours minorities. So you can't get anything done until ALL of you agree.
Tomc 31-Jan-2007 [2115] | I have sent Graham the 2004 list, there were alot more who cared back then ... do we have to get them to agree as well |
Sunanda 31-Jan-2007 [2116] | Why not just say "no user-contributed suggestions will be tolerated?" |
[unknown: 9] 31-Jan-2007 [2117x3] | Sunanda......shhhhhhhhhhhhh, can't make it that clear... |
Of, note, when we made the last back then, Carl updated this world, and we did indeed lose a bunch of info...
It was just bad timing. | |
PeterWood 31-Jan-2007 [2120x2] | My major frustration with AltMe is that scrolling isn't functional under Windows but it works under Linux. |
If there is a long converstation ro long posts in a topic, I either have to switch from Windows to Linux or, if the topic is web-public, read it at rebol.net
[unknown: 9] 31-Jan-2007 [2122] | Odd, I live on Windows, I'm not seeing this problem. Do you mean scrolling with the keyboard? |
PeterWood 31-Jan-2007 [2123x6] | The second major peeve is that clicking on http links and cut&paste to/from the Gnome clipboard doesn't work under Linux. So then I have to return to Windows. |
Reichart: No with the scroll-bar arrows.
I have, always, found that when you have a lot of messages in a topic, one click on an arrow (up or down) will scroll past information no on the screen.
no on -> not on | |
The problem appears to be that the amount scrolled by one click seems to be determined by the size of the topic display.
Accurate scrolling requires dragging the scroll bar status block in minute steps which gets beyond my patience. It probably works well if you have a scroll-wheel mouse - but I don't.
Graham 31-Jan-2007 [2129x2] | that's a major peeve of mine too |
It's request 7 | |
[unknown: 9] 31-Jan-2007 [2131] | Where is the complete list you have ? |
Graham 31-Jan-2007 [2132] | here .. just scroll back |
PeterWood 31-Jan-2007 [2133x3] | Is in Checklists - where else !!! |
Is -> It's | |
I have reported the Linux link clicking and cut & paste via feedback. I'm not sure about the scrolling --- so forgive me if I enter it again.
[unknown: 9] 31-Jan-2007 [2136x2] | I don't see 10, but OK. So there are two lists, New features, and Bugs basically. |
I don't ever mind repeats.
PeterWood 31-Jan-2007 [2138x3] | One is old and empty -- the second I've just created :-) Let me tidy them up. |
There are now two AtlME checklists: AltME Top Ten Peeves AltME Top Ten Wishes
I'm sure that I've missed some of the peeves/wishes mentioned earlier but I didn't go back through all the posts.
Henrik 1-Feb-2007 [2141x2] | what about parsing out email addresses to smoething (at) somewhere (dot) com ? |
for web publishing | |
PeterWood 1-Feb-2007 [2143x2] | Isn't that more of a problem with Carl's script that publishes AltME on the web? |
Perhaps a feedback to him at RT would the trick.
Henrik 1-Feb-2007 [2145x2] | it probably is. I don't know how it works... |
but it's also possible to publish through AltME manually.
PeterWood 1-Feb-2007 [2147] | Fair point - why don't you add it to the Peeves or Wishlist |
Henrik 1-Feb-2007 [2148] | speaking of that, formatting in HTML is quite bad. Timestamp takes up 20% of the page width, twice as much as needed. |
Graham 1-Feb-2007 [2149x2] | seems that something like that happens |
my email address was obfuscated a little
sqlab 1-Feb-2007 [2151x2] | I seems I got a new AltMe 1.2.11. I crashed when I tried to see the offered url with the new features. It is more slow. |
There are two I that should be It above
Graham 1-Feb-2007 [2153] | I just updated to 1.2.12 |
PeterWood 1-Feb-2007 [2154] | Me too ..two updates in a day !! |
Graham 1-Feb-2007 [2155] | I wonder if our list of peeves is being considered? :) |
[unknown: 9] 1-Feb-2007 [2156] | No one here but us mice... |
Sunanda 1-Feb-2007 [2157] | Of course, I didn't let the new versions install themselves. I'm with Reichart here -- change nothing until the vote is unanimous :-) |
