Anyone else getting intermittent dropouts of your AltMe connection, 
or is it just me?

I have never experienced the syncing problem. I am wondering if it 
might not help for all of us to fill out a detailed questionaire 
about our hardware, operating system, ISP, and anything else that 
could possibly be causing this problem.  Perhaps by examining these 
filled out questionaires a common cause can be located and then fixed.

brianH, I experienced some dropouts a couple of days ago, which also 
affected rebol.net, but that is gone now.

On AltME 1.1.28, Windows 2000, I just uploaded a new PDF. Immediately 
thereafter, the local file was shown as out of date

When I downloaded it back from the server, I got this:

Download failed for Syllable Inc./Marketing/De_Graaff_OSS_adoptiegedrag_van_ondernemers_webversie.pdf 
because write-failed - Is the file open or in use?

This keeps happening at the end of the download, so I can't even 
access the file from AltME

What's the size? I think the current limit is 2-3 Mb.

Ehm, 2.4 MB. Yes, that could be it, but the upload was OK, apart 
from the wrong status, and the download seems to go to 100%

Please send that to AlteME feedback.  In fact since our system for 
tracking bugs is really good from the site, that is the best place 
to post bugs.  If you have a question though, you are always welcome 
to ask me directly, I will try to answer what can be answered.

I'm starting to see regular recycle errors again ...:(

Did you change you max messages over 100?

Not recently.  Let me check to see what it is now.

It was 400 ... I've changed it to 100.

I think what we might do is set this to 100, let people change it, 
but only while they are in session.  When they exist, set it back 
to 100.

R you need to allow search to return messages bodies fron before 
the 100 limit (just checked mine had been set at 5000 for that reason)

Tom, I thought that the message limit was for displaying messages 
.. but search was not limited to that number.

Search is not limited

But you get a message saying something like "can't show you that 
result cos of your message limit"
So you have to increase your message limit to see the results.

S:  that is correct

don't know if that is in the todo list, but for exporting conversations, 
would it be possible to cover up email addresses?

Efish, I regularly serve at least 2 and sometimes 3.

I usually just start a 2nd instance of Altme.

eFish, you can start multiple worlds automatically by placing a shortcut 
in your startup folder for each instance you want to automatically 
start, using a command like the following...
C:\Program Files\AltMe\altme.exe
 -s "<Worldname>" -p <portnumber>

I was clicking at a lot of groups just a few seconds ago after installing 
altme on a new computer .... :-) ..... but I'm getting faster everytime 
and if one is fast one can see pretty nicely that the event-queue 
is working, because even though altme is not fast enough in keeping 
up with setting groups to "read", it doesn't miss any groups already 
clicked on. :-)

yeah - mark all groups read is what I do miss :-)

New little game? A list, rows randomly turn red, click fast enough?:)

jep would be funny to build it in and I guess Reichart would sell 
it even as world class entertainment system. :-)

Are you kidding....what you guys all don't realize is that AltME-Rebol3 
"is" a a top selling game in Korea.  They try and guess what everyone 
is going to complain about next.  Someone won big money on the whole 
Troll email issue, and every time I rant I know this one guy loses 
his rent money (one would think he would learn by  now).

My World quit working this last week or two.  Has anything changed 
at the site that does world validation?

None that I know of, I'm on about 10 worlds being hosted in differnt 
places, they all work.

Most "people" don't have a sense of community.  On other hand, I 
invited one person that now has brown a world to about 20 people, 
they have been "living" inside AltME for about 1.5 years now.  They 
can't even imagine using anything else, since they do play with everything 
else.  It is simply a preference.

I have to admit: REBOL3 is the only place I use AltME for. I think 
it really only works when grouping at least 5 or 10 people together.

Turns out that you have to register the world name with safewords 
by providing a World Password.  This is something new in the last 
year.  I was using a registered and paid worldname before but very 
soon after paying the world quit working and I created  new worlds 
by appending numbers to the end of the worldname.  This worked for 
a year but now that my yearly membership has expired - the worldname 
with a number quit working as well.

  I use it for just three or four people to keep track of a to-do lists. 
   Has worked for us for a couple years, albeit with some problems 
  in keeping the world going.  The To-Do lists are very helpful.

indeed they are. I use it myself alot, heck sometimes even when I'm 
just me in my private world. :-) it's still useful.
