[!AltME] Discussion about AltME
older newer | first last |
Kaj 13-Apr-2006 [1419x2] | I got an "Invalid username or password" again, this time during starting AltME and auto-login. It was accompanied by an error abort, which I sent in to feedback |
This time I had upgraded the server from 1.1.24, I think, to 1.1.28
Julia 13-Apr-2006 [1421] | problem: after I've posted my message, content is not refresh, I can't see answers, but then i post next message i see that there are some messages - answers for me |
Henrik 13-Apr-2006 [1422x2] | julia, it's an old syncing problem that is well known |
but apparently very hard to fix
Julia 13-Apr-2006 [1424] | and what i have to do? |
Henrik 13-Apr-2006 [1425] | there is not much to do, but sometimes posting something in the dot group helps syncing. sometimes logging out and in again helps, but not always |
Julia 13-Apr-2006 [1426] | thanks |
Thør 17-Apr-2006 [1427] | Julia, are you on dial-up? |
PeterWood 25-Apr-2006 [1428] | . |
Henrik 26-Apr-2006 [1429] | here's an idea: how about some kind of softlinks to specific places internally to AltME? Say I want to link to another group, a specific check list or a calendar day, a bug report in a bug tracker or a file in the filesharing tool. |
Anton 26-Apr-2006 [1430] | I suggested a path notation to each message (or at least to a date) some time ago. |
[unknown: 9] 26-Apr-2006 [1431] | On hte list already. We are looking into XPath type stuff right now in fact for other stuff as well. |
Anton 26-Apr-2006 [1432] | That would be cool. |
BrianH 27-Apr-2006 [1433] | Anyone else getting intermittent dropouts of your AltMe connection, or is it just me? |
Sunanda 27-Apr-2006 [1434] | Fairly often. |
Graham 27-Apr-2006 [1435] | not me today ... |
Louis 27-Apr-2006 [1436] | I have never experienced the syncing problem. I am wondering if it might not help for all of us to fill out a detailed questionaire about our hardware, operating system, ISP, and anything else that could possibly be causing this problem. Perhaps by examining these filled out questionaires a common cause can be located and then fixed. |
Henrik 27-Apr-2006 [1437] | brianH, I experienced some dropouts a couple of days ago, which also affected rebol.net, but that is gone now. |
Kaj 30-Apr-2006 [1438x4] | On AltME 1.1.28, Windows 2000, I just uploaded a new PDF. Immediately thereafter, the local file was shown as out of date |
When I downloaded it back from the server, I got this:
Download failed for Syllable Inc./Marketing/De_Graaff_OSS_adoptiegedrag_van_ondernemers_webversie.pdf because write-failed - Is the file open or in use?
This keeps happening at the end of the download, so I can't even access the file from AltME
Maarten 30-Apr-2006 [1442] | What's the size? I think the current limit is 2-3 Mb. |
Kaj 30-Apr-2006 [1443] | Ehm, 2.4 MB. Yes, that could be it, but the upload was OK, apart from the wrong status, and the download seems to go to 100% |
[unknown: 9] 30-Apr-2006 [1444] | Please send that to AlteME feedback. In fact since our system for tracking bugs is really good from the site, that is the best place to post bugs. If you have a question though, you are always welcome to ask me directly, I will try to answer what can be answered. |
Graham 30-Apr-2006 [1445] | I'm starting to see regular recycle errors again ...:( |
[unknown: 9] 30-Apr-2006 [1446x2] | All of a sudden? |
Did you change you max messages over 100?
Graham 30-Apr-2006 [1448x2] | Not recently. Let me check to see what it is now. |
It was 400 ... I've changed it to 100.
[unknown: 9] 1-May-2006 [1450] | I think what we might do is set this to 100, let people change it, but only while they are in session. When they exist, set it back to 100. |
PeterWood 1-May-2006 [1451] | Did you mean exit? |
Graham 1-May-2006 [1452] | He does. |
[unknown: 9] 1-May-2006 [1453] | :) |
Tomc 1-May-2006 [1454] | R you need to allow search to return messages bodies fron before the 100 limit (just checked mine had been set at 5000 for that reason) |
Graham 1-May-2006 [1455] | Tom, I thought that the message limit was for displaying messages .. but search was not limited to that number. |
Sunanda 1-May-2006 [1456] | Search is not limited But you get a message saying something like "can't show you that result cos of your message limit" So you have to increase your message limit to see the results. |
Tomc 1-May-2006 [1457] | S: that is correct |
Henrik 9-May-2006 [1458] | don't know if that is in the todo list, but for exporting conversations, would it be possible to cover up email addresses? |
[unknown: 9] 9-May-2006 [1459] | That is not on the list. Please post that to Feedback on AltME.com Thanks. |
Henrik 9-May-2006 [1460] | done |
eFishAnt 11-May-2006 [1461] | anyone know if I can only serve 1 world from a PC? Or is there some way to startup a second world? |
james_nak 11-May-2006 [1462x4] | Efish, I regularly serve at least 2 and sometimes 3. |
I usually just start a 2nd instance of Altme.
Here is an article on this: http://www.alistapart.com/articles/goingtoprint
Sorry Wrong group... | |
Brock 11-May-2006 [1466] | eFish, you can start multiple worlds automatically by placing a shortcut in your startup folder for each instance you want to automatically start, using a command like the following... C:\Program Files\AltMe\altme.exe -s "<Worldname>" -p <portnumber> |
MichaelB 12-May-2006 [1467] | I was clicking at a lot of groups just a few seconds ago after installing altme on a new computer .... :-) ..... but I'm getting faster everytime and if one is fast one can see pretty nicely that the event-queue is working, because even though altme is not fast enough in keeping up with setting groups to "read", it doesn't miss any groups already clicked on. :-) |
Pekr 12-May-2006 [1468] | yeah - mark all groups read is what I do miss :-) |
