[!AltME] Discussion about AltME
older newer | first last |
Sunanda 9-Mar-2006 [1145] | th鴕 has a message on the REBOL Googlegroup: <<Could you please set up an account for me? I've been trying to get in for months now, but the guest/guest credentials seem to have been disabled.>> Seems a better method for promoting this world and enabling people to join is overdue. |
Geomol 9-Mar-2006 [1146] | Graham, it says AltME version 1.1.25 here under OSX. Not sure, if it's an alpha or beta release. |
Pekr 9-Mar-2006 [1147] | 1.1.27 downloaded now ... wonder about changes too ... changelog anywhere? |
Gabriele 9-Mar-2006 [1148] | .27 adds file history |
Pekr 9-Mar-2006 [1149x2] | thanks |
maybe it would be nice to add the download dialog/decision before it starts downloading. I know it is fast on most connections, but slightly confusing on my GPRS - it seems like app is being blocked "checking for updates", while actually it is already downloading an update ... just a suggestion ...
DideC 9-Mar-2006 [1151] | Is there a way to create a shorcut to start a world? I know the -w WORLDNAME to log on a world, but can't find how to start a world this way in the doc. |
Brock 9-Mar-2006 [1152x2] | yourpath/altme.exe -s "your world" -p Portnumber |
In windows this is placed in the shortcut's target field.
Geomol 9-Mar-2006 [1154] | Ok, updates are coming frequently now. It's 1.1.28 under OSX now. I couldn't send messages just before, probably because a new version was released. After closing and restarting AltME, I can send again. :-) |
Henrik 9-Mar-2006 [1155] | interesting that updates aren't checked until you log onto a world... so updates are world specific? |
Oldes 9-Mar-2006 [1156] | I just had "invalid datatype during recycle" error:-( |
Henrik 9-Mar-2006 [1157] | oldes, which platform? AFAIK, windows version hasn't been upgraded to 1.3.x yet |
james_nak 13-Mar-2006 [1158x2] | Was Altme just down for the last hour or so? |
That is, rebol3 world. | |
MichaelB 13-Mar-2006 [1160] | seams so :-) |
Oldes 13-Mar-2006 [1161] | Henrik: windows version (and today i had another one) |
Graham 13-Mar-2006 [1162x2] | Henrik, it's probably updating files specific to each world. |
messages ro what ever. | |
Henrik 13-Mar-2006 [1164x2] | graham, could be |
oldes, MacOSX version seems very stable here, so maybe it will help once it goes to 1.3 on windows
Oldes 14-Mar-2006 [1166] | i hope so, anyway, it's not such a big problem as it's still very rare bug. Altme is great. I'm sometimes using other web forums and can compare it with Altme - which has much more better approach (as I don't need to load huge HTML all the time to just check if someone answered my question:) |
Henrik 14-Mar-2006 [1167] | FYI: When the disk runs full under MacOSX, AltME displays an error: "AltME Error: Registry: cannot load dataset files: 2" Perhaps something a bit more informative could be done? |
[unknown: 9] 14-Mar-2006 [1168] | Logged. |
[unknown: 10] 17-Mar-2006 [1169] | Altme tells me a new binary's 042 is avaiable (linux).. Wehn i download it im unable to execute it afterwards..any hint ? |
Geomol 17-Mar-2006 [1170x2] | Does the file have execute flag set? To get a long list and see flags: ls -l To set execute flags: chmod +x <file> |
(above should be written in a unix shell like bash, of course)
[unknown: 10] 17-Mar-2006 [1172x9] | Its downloading 042 it tells me but in the /versions dir there is this -> altme1-1-1-4-2 |
Not an execatuble.. But its has an ELF header... unable to execute it in anyway..
im using now 1.0.2 | |
its simply not a linux binary...
at least not a correct one..
-bash: ./altme1-1-1-4-2: cannot execute binary file
ELF (4燖隌隌隌{^@{^躥\\醊\醊览/lib/ld-linux.so.2磐x"
unable to do anything with it..
I just downloaded the Debian version manualy from Altme!! Its runs out of the box on Slackware 10.2 !! (just that you know it ;-)
Geomol 17-Mar-2006 [1181] | From this link? http://www.altme.com/download/altme-debian-beta.tar.gz |
[unknown: 10] 17-Mar-2006 [1182x2] | Jups... |
http://www.altme.com/download/altme-debian-beta.tar.gz
Geomol 17-Mar-2006 [1184x2] | It has execute permissions, I can see. Maybe it needs another link file? Like the lib/ld-linux.so.2 |
Do you have such a file in your system?
[unknown: 10] 17-Mar-2006 [1186] | No its not a library problem... Linux is not complaining about a library problem... the ELF header is not correct.. |
Geomol 17-Mar-2006 [1187] | ah ok. I can't help then, sorry. |
[unknown: 10] 17-Mar-2006 [1188] | ;-) no problem... |
Geomol 17-Mar-2006 [1189] | Hopefully someone from SafeWorlds will step by and give you a hint. |
[unknown: 10] 17-Mar-2006 [1190] | Well perhpas they do.. At the moment the Debian version is just running great ;-) |
Kaj 17-Mar-2006 [1191] | Automatic updating is not working for me, either. It keeps downloading the update at every AltME start but won't carry out the upgrade |
Robert 18-Mar-2006 [1192] | Can someone tell me how I have to setup to AltME (on Windows) so that it directly connects to a specific world? |
Geomol 18-Mar-2006 [1193] | Click "Auto-return to previsous world" in the settings. |
Robert 18-Mar-2006 [1194] | Well, I have three worlds open at the same time. |
