This is why I have repeatedly requested details about REBOL's recycle
algorithm. With the wrong algorithm, REBOL could be subject to the
same problems the comic discusses, like delays and fragmentation.

yes, most probably true. IIRC Ladislav discussed that topic with
Carl, but I don't remember the details. GC will be part of closed
source part of R3, no?

I would assume so, with the exception of the part which requests
memory from the OS. It could still be documented though.

Guys, nice chat but can we move to group performance or something
like this? I like TechNews because it's just about that and no noise...

So, does this mean Orca has been abandoned?
And you're supplying REBOL instead?
Kaj
12-Sep-2008
[3361]
No, why? I'm supplying both
Graham

Just wondering since all of the above clearly needs REBOL
Kaj

Actually, the system runs without REBOL, but it doesn't work without
ORCA
I'm also starting to do more ORCA these days

Yeah, I saw that. :-) Thanks!
It's ORCA, though, not OSCAR

post up.

I asked a question about ORCA's status there, to keep the discussion
public.

I tried, but I can't edit my comment. I sent feedback. I'm hoping
to fix it before someone points out the error in a public forum.

One czech IT related portal reports, that Cisco buys Jabber, to enhance
its IM product capabilities. I wonder who buys R3 plus rebservices
:-)

They said they have had it running on a PS3 .. so will you do the
REBOL port ? ;)
Pekr

The fatal error in their aproach is, that they should have been moving
to x86 in 2000 already. PPC might be fine, but it caused a damage
...

Pekr

yes, PS3 is different league than plain A1 (you can't buy new ones)
or even SAM (600 or more EUR for sigle board? 400MHz? Othere expenses
- hd, memory, power supply, case, OS)

Yes, there's even an "Install other OS" entry in the system menu
on the PS3. That's how Linux is installed.
