Gab - yes, IRC needs specific ports too .... I did not know that 
school could have so strict policy? Basically they cut cut wires, 
if they want to feel safe :-)

In several regards - rich-text, LNS, there was one concrete date 
mentioned - 14.11. - is that intentional? I mean - is there any announcement 
planned?

i don't know about that. but a lot of things are going to happen 
in the next couple months.

If the files will be torrents .... does anyone have any suggestions 
for a clean bit-torrent client .... ie No spyware ....

I use Azureus ... a good one ... java based, but fast enough, nice 
GUI

my server and then download via HTTP (though torrent would save a 
bit of my bw, thus is preferred whenever possible)

No, not really - lot's of questions, because my personal experience 
is, that the most interesting news are usually being said behind 
the scenes, during non-formal chat, banquet etc. - and those ones 
will not be covered by your video :-)

My surprise about the conference is that VitalNeeds didn't appear 
to send their Community Liason.  I'd like to hear what happened with 
regards to that.

petr: sure but people will not tell you that, because you never know 
what is intended to be confidential. if carl tells something to me, 
i'm not allowed to tell that to everyone just because he told me.

Brock - I asked about Vital Needs and you can find Carl's answer 
in Reichart's post, but it is not clear to me - something like "they 
are talking" .... but it seems to me like partnership would be lost, 
otherwise they would not remove every single reference from every 
single PDF file and announcement they published ;-)

MPEG4 is*NOT* arcane stuff. it is the STANDARD.

ah, forgot you are a Mac user :-) Macs are almost nonexistant here

actually, i always made mp4 on linux, and i'm just glad macs can 
do mp4 too.

thought that it is mpeg2 - but - can it be encoded using ffdshow 
or any other codecs pack? Hopefully so ...

encoded = decoded,sorry ...

mpeg4 is just the successor of mpeg2... you know...

that I know - I thought QT is using mpeg2, that is all ...

I started Torrent download - if more users do need it I will let 
my machine up and running but I will not add much to overall throughput, 
just some 128kbit .... (I am very near to have 1Mbit at home though 
:-)
