RDF for self-describing images
[1/4] from: jasonic:panix at: 17-Nov-2001 16:37
Following up on the scope of [do %image.png] I came across a nice RDF image
meta data abstract:
http://www.tasi.ac.uk/2000/09/rdfmeta/
An informal note describing an ILRT/TASI testbed study on embedding RDF
metadata in self-describing images. Some useful links at the end
PNG is an obvious candidate for image embedded metadata.
QA: Does anyone have knowledge/experience about how widespread PNG readers
or the trends for using PNG?
Q2: Anyone heard of metadata embedding in JPEG?
PNG is my first choice for now, with SWF as its dynamic cousin.
But I would love to find a way to keep JPEG in the family...
any leads most welcome on this topic
thanks

Have you looked at MNG as a dynamic cousin?
Enjoy!!

I read a very little about it .. not played with it hands on at all.
My impression, either too early or too late for MNG.
do tell me more..
SWF [Flash5+] has so many great features plus a presently expanding player
installed user base that it is hard to see much serious competiton right
now. even hype about handhelds, kiosks and Playstation etc.
Above all I like it because it does merge vector and raster graphics well,
and has a powerful object oriented paradigm, helped by ActionScript
The #best dynamic SWF examples I have seen anywhere yet is at a beautiful
generative art site:

Just checking, I know I was quite excited about the proposal a couple of
years ago when I first saw it (MNG), but since then I got out of web
building. I don't know its current status, but I do know that it would be
neat if it is as good as they said it was going to be...
Enjoy!!
