Just an additional note on this: In some countries (Austria,FRG...) "public domain", i.e. a software without any license, is not possible. The author doesn't need to claim his (C), he automatically has it by the act of creating a text, sound, piece of software... . And he cannot sell or give up his (C) at all. He can just give licenses (for free at his will). So if you use software from these countries and the doc file says: it's in the public domain, then the author still has the copyright ! Jean
