I don't know what you mean by that. A library or library-binding
that is interesting to me? Okay let's say I find it important to
use Red as I do with REBOL on my Apache driven website (no option
to choose the server with my webhostingservice) to process rebol
scripts and rsp scripts. I think there is a world of Red users to
be won if Red could do this, at least we would be able to run Red/Redsp
scripts on the apacheservers potential customers will have their
websites hosted on, if you still can follow, they may not be too
enthousiast changing websitehosting services only because we have
some fun Rebol/Red scripting to offer. So where would I start?
ACook:

Really nice website (red-lang.org) by the way.
Arnold:
17-Sep-2012
The website needs an introduction/instruction section and a downloadlink
to a zipped version of Red souces, so people can skip the github
stuff.
DocKimbel:
17-Sep-2012
Arnold: Red source zip links are on github since the beginning. Maybe
you can write such presentation/instruction section, submit it in
a gist, put the link here and on the Red ML, discuss with others,
and when it's ready send it to me so I can review and publish it.
I need to advance on Red construction rapidly now, so the website
is currently lower priority to me.
DocKimbel:

Guys, remember the project current version number: v0.2.6, this is
far from a v1.0.0, don't expect the website to look like if the product
was finished. Maybe I should add an old-fashion "Under Construction"
yellow gif banner on top of it? ;-)
Kaj:
6-Oct-2012
Thanks for thinking about me, Nick. I'll refrain from asking for
donations until Doc is in a good position, then I'll set up a website
for the bindings to give sponsors a chance to influence my priorities

My own website is done with Cheyenne and the HTML dialect and is
very easy for me to maintain: Makedoc files are rendered on the fly
to each webpage. I can SSH to the server and edit files as I please
and there is nearly zero HTML involved.

Granted, there is no blog or comments section, but is another example
of how a small toolchain (one Cheyenne executable and a few script
files) can be used to build a good website.
Kaj:

Thanks. A website is planned, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
I figure the time is better spent doing Red work
Arnold:
3-Mar-2013
What I see as a first possible step is have a kind of Red website
hosting where websites can be hosted using Red (cheyenne server)
and a database behind it (MySQL or SQLite) and a possibility for
digital payments (such a module could be additionally payed and kept
'closed' source). This could obviously generate a modest cashflow.
There would be needed books etc.
Pekr:
5-Mar-2013
There's not so many buttons on Github page ;-) But maybe Doc could
add above link pointing to latest archive directly to his site, would
make things for beginners easier. Well, looking at red website I
now find it also a mistake not having download section ...
GrahamC:
5-Mar-2013
I believe redoing the website is on the list of things to do ...
Pekr:
5-Mar-2013
Gregg - the ONLY thing which is really needed, is to add Download
section to the Red website, pointing to the ZIP button of the Github
website. That's for those who are not familiar with Git, or to whom
the Git creates a headache to use. So - is adding one URL to a website
so much of a challenge?
Pekr:
25-Apr-2013
Looking at http://www.red-lang.org/p/contributions.htmlit seems
to me, that Red has more bindings, than for R2 + R3 combined :-)
Maybe just an impression, as I miss such a conscise list on rebol.com
website ....
Kaj:
8-May-2013
I'll be setting up a website for them later
Pekr:

FB has component to display news, twitter too. As for FB, I would
not put it into your website, but maybe twitter could be corrected
Pekr:
23-Jul-2013
It is that ppl outside of here can't know ... Well, many ppl will
go via offical website and its contributions section. Maybe the script
could be mentioned there, dunno. OTOH most of the bindings are listed
there, so maybe there's no need to do so ...
Kaj:
23-Jul-2013
I've also explained a number of times that I will make a central
website for Red, but that I have been too busy so far with doing
actual Red work
Kaj:
23-Jul-2013
I wish it would be enough to state my position once. I know how others
think about it. I'm making improvements all the time, but I haven't
had time for a central website yet. Is that so hard to accept?
Kaj:
23-Jul-2013
Half a year ago people complained about the Fossil websites, so I
developed the download script for them. That will have to do for
now. I'm sure that when I make the website, people will want something
else again
Rebolek:
23-Jul-2013
I think that people will stop complaining when everything Fossil-related
is gone (extremly confusing website, dependency, ...).
Kaj:
23-Jul-2013
The central website is planned to become the index page. Until then,
the index is in the download.r

Please put in your agenda the weekend of saturday the 26th and sunday
the 27th of january. Then we will have the DevCon 2013 in De War
'Place for Pioneers' in Amersfoort, the Netherlands. This year we
will combine the Syllable Winter Conference with the DevCon, Conference
for the REBOL Programming Language Family, as they have much overlap.
Presentations will be done by Nenad Rakocevic and Kaj de Vos. We
are open to other guest speakers and presentations? Entrance is free,
but donations are very much appreciated. Keep an eye on this website:

It is easily reachable by airplane (Schiphol, Amsterdam Airport)
and by international trains.

It's an old matches factory marked 'Spullenmannen', which is now
being used by artists.

DE WAR

DE WAR is a breeding ground for art, technology and sustainability
in Amersfoort, and is host to a wide range of activities. Since
2002 the Spullenlab has been the headquarters of Spullenmannen, an
artists\u2019 collective making theatre, installations, visual art,
and purposeless contraptions. A shared office space was set up in
2006, with different working places, a meeting room, and other facilities
shared by a number of cultural enterpreneurs. The OpenTOKO workshops
started in 2008, as a series of \u2019open knowledge\u2019 workshops
on the connection between art and technology. Since 2010, DE WAR
has also been housing FabLab Amersfoort, TransitieLab, and Studium
Generale Amersfoort. Moreover, a performing space for small theatre
productions has been set up in 2011.

DE WAR has been established in the old match factory on the river
Eem. The factory complex dating back in 1881 has, besides from other
activities, operated as a production facility of the Dutch colour
dye industry, and is also known by the name of its last owner, Warner
Jenkinson. Nowadays owned by the municipality of Amersfoort, the
factory complex faces an uncertain future, either to be demolished
or to be renovated. Besides DE WAR several other offices and ateliers
are housed within the same factory complex.

I'm happy to announce a website for downloads of (unofficial) Rebol
3 executables:

http://www.rebolsource.net/

Currently, binaries for Linux, OSX, and Win32 are created fully automatically,
from Carl's latest R3 sources. So whenever Carl updates his Github
repository, those binaries will be updated automatically (typically
within ~10 minutes) as well.

Thank you all for addressing my concerns and for your answers about
my first coding question.

Ahh.. rejoin. Reading up on it makes me better understand how some
things are to be done in Rebol.

 Continuing to the final goal...

I have to extract an email address from a GET transfer. The methoed
of sending the info to me is completely out of my control. An email
address will be entered into a form on a website not controled by
me. GET methoed will send the data to my script. The people who created
the form on the external site advised that they label the email address
as "trnEmailAddress".

So now I want to see if I am correct in thinking how to extract and
use the email address. Will using the decode a cgi form command (I
know they are not commands in the tradiational sense) work. How
does it work, does it create variables out of the GET (or Post when
using Post, but I am forced to recieve the info via GET) stream?

The GET stream in my case will include "&trnEmailAddress=person%40example%2Ecom.
So can I do this?

decode-cgi system/options/cgi/query-string

send trnEmailAddress "Thank you. Rest of message."

Thanks for your help.

I have integrated my first REBOL module within my website. I needed

Hello, all.

Back in May I was here asking for lots of help in creating a simple
CGI script in REBOL. Wanted to say thanks. It was most appreciated,
especially considering how rarely you get new people my questions
must have seemed so simple to the point of boring the crap out of
all of you hardcore experts. My regular job has insane hours and
months pass by in what seems like minutes. The person I was doing
it for suddenly had other things come up on his website and business
that required attention first so it fell by the wayside. I intend
to pick it up where I left off this week during an evening when I
have more time. While I had a few minutes I had to send my thanks.

And I see REBOL might become open source... good to see it moving
 forward instead of stagnating.

REBOLCentral is now nearly five months old as a project,

it would be best to not connect the date someone begins talking about
something with when the "project began."

Separate than this specific example, I notice this comes up a lot.
I guess phrases like "Bob has been talking about fixing that for
years now" just seem very odd to me. Unless Bob himself set the
end date….or start date.

Anyway…funny enough, we were just talking this week about what off
the shelf tools we plan to use for RebolCentral. Over the past 5
months, we built a non-profit wonderfully successful website for
another cause that has generated great usage and created a sense
of community. Now that it is pretty stable, we will be moving on
to RC.
Sunanda:

The first stage of having community links at REBOL.org would be meaningful
content in personal pages.

We could the time them together or pull out highlights to make some

first move is up to them.

Anyone know the answer to this one?

I have a cgi script that sends an email out. The problem is that
I want to send to an address that has the same domain name as the
website but whose mail server is not located there (It's an Exchange
Server). Any other address works fine as expected. I think it has
to do with the mx records but, the weird thing is that if I generate
an email via php, it goes through. Therefore I'm thinking Rebol can
do it too.

I've used set-net for the smtp server and have set it a different
server completely but still no go.
And I'm in the process of having the MX records changed.

is it any different security-wise to /cgi-bin/rebol.exe?

John, I've downloaded it from your website - thank you!

One more question from an unexperienced REBOL-user:

What is the most commen way to enhance a block I've got with xml2rebxml,
source is
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
<chapter id="ch_testxml" name="Test XML">
<title>A chapter with some xml tests</title>
  <sect1 id="sct_about" name="About my Tests">
    <title>What kind of tests I will do</title>
    <body>
      <para>Some simple paragraph.</para>
    </body>
  </sect1>
</chapter>

After read in the file with
my-doc: xml2rebxml read %test.xml

I'd like to insert a second sect1-element in the block my-doc, whats
the best way - just to avoid some stupid mistakes.

Good points, Maarten about accessibility.

If I were looking for an alternative REBOL GUI and typed REBOL GUI
into Google, I'd probably soon conclude that there wasn't one. And
that might end my evaluation of REBOL.

Having many useful tools scattered across personal websites has other
weaknesses too -- look at how hard it's been for people to find Gavin
MacKenzies's XML libraries after his personal website went offline.

Bear in mind that around 10% of all people do not have javascript
enabled. That way be through choice, necessity, or following US government
security advice.

Javascript usage stats: http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp

Before clicking on a link to a web site that you are not familiar
with or do not trust, take the precaution of disabling active content.

With PHP all the oomph is in the server , so it is under your control.
As you cannot guarantee that JS will be available in the client if,
extra steps are needed to ensure the website works without it --
even though it may work spectacularly better with it.

Anyone had any experience with SQLite (http://www.sqlite.org/), especially
in conjunction with REBOL? What are the limitations of sqlite3-protocol.r
(http://www.rebol.org/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/rebol/view-script.r?script=sqlite3-protocol.r),
if any?

I'm interested to see how folks have dealt with issues such as:

 1) Support for datatypes other than TEXT, INTEGER, NUMBER and BLOB?

 2) All tables in one DB, or one table per DB to improve concurrency?

 3) Multi-user access across a network, given this statement from
 the SQLite website:

SQLite uses reader/writer locks to control access to the database.
(Under Win95/98/ME which lacks support for reader/writer locks, a
probabilistic simulation is used instead.) But use caution: this
locking mechanism might not work correctly if the database file is
kept on an NFS filesystem. This is because fcntl() file locking is
broken on many NFS implementations. You should avoid putting SQLite
database files on NFS if multiple processes might try to access the
file at the same time. On Windows, Microsoft's documentation says
that locking may not work under FAT filesystems if you are not running
the Share.exe daemon. People who have a lot of experience with Windows
tell me that file locking of network files is very buggy and is not
dependable. If what they say is true, sharing an SQLite database
between two or more Windows machines might cause unexpected problems.

Should we inform the user is a new update is avalaible?

I think this should be configurable for compatible updates. I guess
some people might become nervous, if the plugin connects to the rebol.com
site on every invocation. Even it is only looking for updates, well,
you'll never know ...

On incompatible updates: The user should get a message along the
lines: "You have installed the Rebol 1.3.4 plugin, this website needs
the 3.0 plugin" of course only, if that is true.

I would ask for "download and install" for user convenience. Ver<
few people would want to download and check the binary before installing
it. Maybe you _could_ add a checkbox to "only download".

Well, I hate popups, but I hate not getting inmportant info even
more ... so, I start downloadinf a webpage, while this page is loading,
I open another tab, and work on this. Now I return to my first page
later, and I find an embedded message "We're sorry, you first need
to download the new plugin version" would make me go crazy :-) So
I would like a popup in this case.

Well, when there is a new security update, for maximum security,
the plugin should stop to work until the user has answered, wether
he wants to update, or go with the old plugin.

go, find whatever website flash plug-in part of website, press right
mouse - you will see menu for controlling flash script itself ...
that is what I am talking about - you will find flash player related
menu, not app related menu. And IF context menu is supposed to be
under MY control, I can't guarantee you, that there will be SINGLE
item left to configure rebol plug-in itself .... so, for me, Flash
context menu is nearly nonexistant = used for Flash player itself,
not for the app ...

Q: go, find whatever website flash plug-in part of website, press
right mouse - you will see menu for controlling flash script itself
... that is what I am talking about -

A: That is a choice of the developers. The fact that people leave
it as "default"

Q: Reichart - and you imo overestimate Flash's importance - they
can be milti-whatever company, yet I would have to see some noticed
real-life app someone uses in corporate sphere :-)

A: "I" over estimate Flash? Uh, er….you mean like how Yahoo over
estimated Flickr (front end is Flash), and bought them?

Or, while you might not like it, if you are looking at an animated
ad on the web, there is a good chance it is Flash. That would be
a 500 billion dollar industry that is using Flash as their delivery
mechanism. That is the app, animated content with games and click
through.

And if you use T-Mobile, then you are using Flash. Yup, it "is"
the interface for their cellphone content provider.

Pekr, I'm not a fan of Flash, or Macromedia…I'm simply stating that
Rebol should consider Flash's model as a pathway to a clean install
and plug-in interface.

For the Icons at the top: Blue = Crystal Mines, Green = Forests,
Red = Gold Mines. These are your base resources that reproduce each
turn. They create stockpiles of Energy, Wood and Gold respectively.
These stockpiles are used to activate cards in your hand.

card.png is the 'hidden' or deck card face. This is used to hide
the computer's cards and the deck and discard piles. card1.png is
a sample of the format that the card images are in. This can be
used as a basis for creating new cards to the correct size. (86x64
pixel size with a 7x7 pixel offset into the card1.png template).
I have a card editor that can add in the card details to match
their stats etc.

Regarding image names - ill compile a full list and place it on the
website later today once i finalise the deck size :)
