Gregg, you have a fine taste of useful tech ;-)

I guess this is a huge task. If you look at the Xilinx ISE Pack and
the prices they are asking...

There is a free Web version but this one only supports the very small
units with max. 24k LC, not enough todo usefull things.

But of course a Verilog/VHDL dialect would be more than cool. Meanwhile
OpenCL/CUDA would be nice as well.

In order to be able to generate x86 target, do the following:

- copy %build.r into %build-x86.r

- change make-dir/deep bin-dir/lib/armeabi => make-dir/deep bin-dir/lib/x86

- change "-t Android" => "-t Android-x86"

- change "rejoin [%../red/bridges/android/ bin-dir/lib/armeabi" =>
"rejoin [%../red/bridges/android/ bin-dir/lib/x86"

- run %build-x86.r - generates an apk and if you ran arm version
previously, will pack both versions into one .apk

Many bugs were fixed, including several regressions from earlier
releases. The window decorators don't destabilise the system anymore.
The installation procedure is greatly enhanced with options to fix
hardware support problems. The native web browser is replaced with
Webster, based on a newer version of the WebKit engine. Many enhancements
were made to standards support, leading, among others, to the ability
to run QEmu - so now you can run virtual machines. The documentation
was improved and several translations were added. Read more in the

My Windows 2003 server failed to update to service pack 2. Either
I find a way to revert the changes, or I need to reinstall :(

I'm thinking I should setup a Linux server and run my 2003 as vmware

platform?

I do have Suse10 on another box and was running vmware server on

I justed installed Kubuntu on this machine BUT the installed leaves
a lot of room for improvement. If I had never installed a Linux distro
before,Kubuntu for the normal Windows user would have them saying
"f*** Linux. The install gui does not have a progress bar and when
it is done installing, it does not let the user know the install
is done and what to do next :( Mandriva on the other hand has an
excellent install gui. If the major distros could work on a unified
install gui it would be worth its weight in salt. I did see an effort
to that end by 2 different ppl but they can not work together because
of design/programming ideas :( Linux on the desktop works well once

- I am not sure such style has place in standard pack ... or just
- let it transparent for 'not-selected selection, green for 'on selection,
red for 'off selection ...

- table - still you are able to scroll hilited row "under" the table
style border - it should know it is at last displayed element and
start scrolling, scrollers should reflect that. If there is no internal
track of hilited row/cell, then it is not true grid system (I hope
not)

- bug with text-list multi selection - there seem to be bug in math
... press shift, hold it, hilite e.g. 6 rows. Still hold it, press
some two rows below, it let's hilited only first two rows ...

create "new REBOL" using SDK - simply bundle it into new exe with

Well, one should probably not underestimate the design of the XO-3.
I wonder which one breaks first, if a child uses one of each for
a year. Also, the OLPC contains much more beefy educational software,
specific inputs for measuring equipment and low-voltage charge input
for mechanical charging with handcrank and solar charging.

The cover can double as a solar panel with built-in battery pack,
which you take off and leave out in the sun. When it's charged, put
the cover on the back and the tablet runs off that battery.

When comparing the UI responsiveness, there is pretty much no contest:

Geomol - each coin has its two sides. Maybe there are some Windows
only developers. From their POV, there is simply DirectX available
on each PC, so no special need to install one. In the case of GLUT,
they will have to either install it separately (I don't know anything
about it, so maybe it is just few libraries), or simply pack with
their app ...

I know it's far away but what are the design-plans for compiling

Do we still compile/pack into one executable file, or one executable

It is one !extrem! cool feature that compiled/packed rebol doesn't

Pekr:
28-Jun-2008
Gabriele, I understand you. Mov might be technologically even superior.
So I don't know if it is licencsing of Apple or ignorance of Windows
probrammers, but - I just want to use one codeck pack - ffdshow for
e.g. It is some 5 years I met some video, which was not able to work
with it. Any player! But - quicktime is painfull exception! I don't
want quicktime player! I want it to play with any player I choose.
And it does not seem being so. So, I have also VNC, just to have
such problems as getting sound, but not picture, etc. So - no mov
for me.

Henrik, wouldn't it be at least posible to pack the files separatly

We should start talking look & feel at some point too, as it really
looks completly strange :-) Cheap gradients with Aqua like old Mac
look mixed with 70ties Unix grey aproach :-). How can anyone create
anything like that nowadays? This is really strange, as I remember
Gabriele's effect-lab, Cyphre's styles pack, and also Henrik's first
UI attempts, and those looked much better ...

I need to know, if it will be adressed, as I am scared to touch the
gui, as I fear it will do really something bad to me :-)
Ladislav:

Pekr: looks, that you will get more examples from Cyphre, who promised

time being, you only have the examples from the gui-panels.html text
available.
Pekr:
5-Mar-2011
Following few things:

- why is "custom" include needed? We should either user R3 native
facilities, or include an include as a standard into R3 :-) (this
is no real question, just a remark that if we find it usefull, then
why notto make it part of R3?)

- RMA does not work with CureCode tickets. It would be good to either
dismiss/close or resolve them? E.g. I find renaming of do-style and
do-face to do-action, do-reaction a good tip to implement

- we should resolve the size of buttons vs scroller vs tabs. In Carl's
GUI, button is 28 pixels tall, and it feels OK. Our's here is 22,
I have no preference here, but could be those 28 pixels. Scroller
is only 16pix - not acceptable imo. It should be of the size of the
progress. Tabs are proportionally too tall.

- tabs should have line removed for actual tab. I suspect it might
be more difficult to draw the container then.

- there seems to be someone at RMA liking Old aqua interface of MacOS.
Tabs, buttons and scrollers are a good example ... of how to not
do visuals anymore :-)

- area - enter few lines, go to bottom, and try to hilite the text
by keyboard (shift plus arrow-up). It always hilites only actual
line

- info areas, labes, etc., should prohibit display of caret, maybe
allow hilighting, but allowing to have caret in "disabled" area is
not looking nice

- text-table buttons are Excel filter inspired, but looking strange
- some more thoughts needed
- select-an-option does not allow keyboard navigation

- text-list does not scroll, when navigated by keyboard, ditto text-table

- tabbing feels strange for text table. I alway said, that we need
nested tabbing. I can imagine tab stopping on table, but next tab
moving away, not actually going into tabbing in terms of the hilited
widget. Enter should enter the more complex style, escape move away.
That is not typical also at OS level, but then - everybody has it
wrong :-)

- between the text-list and text-table, I have to press tab three
times -visually I am not sure, "where" hilite disappears

- is text-table a compound style? What sense does it have to have
buttons hilighted, not being able to enter the action? Why are not
arrows tabbable? Table headers cells should be one style, not two.

- text-table is the weakest "grid" we ever had. Comparing to Cyphre's
style pack, and rebgui grid. This is like 5% of functionality, not
thought out style, useless for any serious data. I want to see the
display of infiinte amount of data, proper caching.

- tab should be tabbable, ctrl-tab allowed to switch between the
tabs

I find the styles/gui inconsistent. There should be someone defining
the styles, their behaviour to keyboard navigation, tabbing, etc.
So far it seems like style being put together with no deeper thought
about the end result of the whole GUI.
