As for R3 console, which is ugly, but has some helpfull features
too:

Chat - open DevBase developer forum/BBS
Docs - open DocBase document wiki (web)
Bugs - open CureCode bug database (web)
Demo - run demo launcher (from rebol.com)
Help - show built-in help information
Upgrade - check for newer releases
Changes - what's new about this version (web)

Don't change anything for me. It's your call to choose how you want
things to appear for the not yet initialized Rebol visitors. You
already filter away the visitors pretty well by using AltME as the
main forum ...
Henrik:

That's not our decision. Users choose which method is best for communication
and so far, AltME holds up pretty well. Users are free to use open
forums like rebolforum.com or the Synapse forum.

Sorry not sure if this is the right place to ask. I'm overwhelmed
with some many forum/place to post, and visit. I want to find a copy
of Excel Dialect, but it's no longer available at http://www.robertmuench.de/download/,
could you help me to locate a copy of it? Thanks a lot!

To use async on R2, I used to use Uniserve engine.

Once upon a time, France used a Web forum that had an XMLRPC interface
and I coded a Rebol client that was able to monitor activity and
send post on the forum asynchronously. It was a happy time...

yep, it is still there, I use 2.7.7.
I use this function to test:
f: func ['w] [type? get in construct compose [t: (:w)] 't]
>> f yes
== word!
>> f off
== logic!

forum topic is "Careful when Construct an object" on http://rebolforum.com,
above link goes another topic. (a bug on forum, topic numbers changing)

I have a question about 'unique that could become a feature request.

Somebody ask (on the french Rebol forum) how he could remove the
duplicate records from this dataset :
database: [
	a "b" "c 1" "d"
	a "b" "c 2" "d"
	a "b" "c 3" "d"
	a "b" "c 2" "d" ;ligne 4 to delete
	a "b" "c 5" "d"
	a "b" "c 6" "d"
	a "b" "c 7" "d"
	a "b" "c 2" "d" ;ligne 8 to delete
]

My first though was "use 'unique func". But it turns out that it
can't do what I though.

As usual, the doc tells nothing about that (in fact it ells pretty
nothing on the func), but with the /skip refinment, it seems it only
checks the first value at each skip position (so the 'a in this dataset),
not all the values of the record.

there's nothing compelling about forum software ...
BrianH:
29-Nov-2008
No, Doc should write Cheyenne, that's what the release is for. I
still don't get where you thought that Carl was going to delay the
development release to write some forum software. The whole reason
for the release is to get R3 out to the community, so that others
can write this stuff.
BrianH:
29-Nov-2008
Carl is just putting off the forum software until after the release,
just like the DevBase rewrite.
BrianH:
1-Dec-2008
I would if he were talking about DevBase (and did), but I think you
are overestimating just how long it will take to write. We aren't
talking about a web forum here, it is clear from the blog that he
is talking about a R3 GUI client. He can knock that out in no time.
BrianH:
1-Dec-2008
DevBase uses the database of AltME to store its data, has a working
R/S interface, runs just fine. Change the data model and you would
have a forum server. Servers are really very similar.

Pekr:
1-Dec-2008
Now what is that once again? It once again looks as missorganised
effort. Give me a break, please. This one is really not going to
be better than Atlme, far from that. I thought, that when we were
talking about REBOL forum, we were not talking REBOL based GUI?
Pekr:
1-Dec-2008
No, but you could come up with any app. This plan to use it as a
basis for the discussion is pretty much FLAWED. If used, it will
distract us from altme, as well as it WILL NOT cover what the group
was asking for - having the web forum.
Oldes:
1-Dec-2008
I don't think this can be used for a web forum (with heavy trafic),
but it's useful to find out what needs to be changed in the R3 design.
That's the reason why Carl limit's access to releases. He does not
want to confuse too many people as the design changes too fast. I
guess, I'm not in the same group as Henrik.
Pekr:
1-Dec-2008
Carl states in the blog, that he is considering to use it for developer's
discussions, and I don't agree to that, unless I can see, that the
plan is really well though out. It will not be forum, it will be
still worse than altme, it will not be searchable, etc.
Graham:

So, we still lack a forum for the new users

It seems that every GUI has a version of Apple's Coverflow these
days. Flash, JavaScript, JavaFX, even WPF and Delphi. A R3 coverflow
would be a much better application to test out the GUI than a colour
selector and a forum client. It would be a great demonstration of
R3's capabilities.

Only from close friends living in the java world, beyond them, no
one. I don't expect much from outside REBOL world yet, Cheyenne is
mainly useful for REBOL programmers. Once it reaches 1.x, Cheyenne
will have features that would make it more interesting for outsiders
(like a simple web control panel, web sites and webapp packaging
in one unique executable, on-demand ready-to-use web application
loading from our servers: blog, forum, bugtracker,...). I may also
add a FTP service in a future 1.x version and a lot of other innovating
new features I have in mind. ;-)

Checking the Prevx support forum, it appears that they block pasting
to applications to prevent clipboard monitoring. R2.7.6 is probably
in their whitelist. Someone with a Prevx license needs to report
that they are blocking 2.7.8, so they can add it to their whitelist.

There are two steps in this DLL:

- first send a request to the Google api, for instance : http://translate.google.com/translate_tts?tl=en&q=hello+world
Google returns an audio file : translate_tts.mp3

- second, automatically open this file and play it. I use a DirectXShow

of Linux, cUrl could do the first step, and, for instance VLC the
second
