Pekr: 24-May-2011 | As for R3 console, which is ugly, but has some helpfull features too: Chat - open DevBase developer forum/BBS Docs - open DocBase document wiki (web) Bugs - open CureCode bug database (web) Demo - run demo launcher (from rebol.com) Help - show built-in help information Upgrade - check for newer releases Changes - what's new about this version (web)
MaxV: 20-Jul-2011 | WOW! All went ok for Rebol group, but if you look at Facebook help forum there are a lot of people angry about loosing ther memebers! Ehy! Where are the videos I uploaded??? NOOOOooooooo!
Group: !AltME ... Discussion about AltME [web-public]
MagnussonC: 11-Nov-2011 | Don't change anything for me. It's your call to choose how you want things to appear for the not yet initialized Rebol visitors. You already filter away the visitors pretty well by using AltME as the main forum ...
Henrik: 11-Nov-2011 | That's not our decision. Users choose which method is best for communication and so far, AltME holds up pretty well. Users are free to use open forums like rebolforum.com or the Synapse forum.
yubrshen: 2-Feb-2012 | Sorry not sure if this is the right place to ask. I'm overwhelmed with some many forum/place to post, and visit. I want to find a copy of Excel Dialect, but it's no longer available at http://www.robertmuench.de/download/, could you help me to locate a copy of it? Thanks a lot!

DideC: 15-Jun-2010 | To use async on R2, I used to use Uniserve engine. Once upon a time, France used a Web forum that had an XMLRPC interface and I coded a Rebol client that was able to monitor activity and send post on the forum asynchronously. It was a happy time...
Endo: 6-Jul-2010 | yep, it is still there, I use 2.7.7. I use this function to test: f: func ['w] [type? get in construct compose [t: (:w)] 't] >> f yes == word! >> f off == logic! forum topic is "Careful when Construct an object" on http://rebolforum.com, above link goes another topic. (a bug on forum, topic numbers changing)
DideC: 25-Aug-2010 | I have a question about 'unique that could become a feature request. Somebody ask (on the french Rebol forum) how he could remove the duplicate records from this dataset : database: [ a "b" "c 1" "d" a "b" "c 2" "d" a "b" "c 3" "d" a "b" "c 2" "d" ;ligne 4 to delete a "b" "c 5" "d" a "b" "c 6" "d" a "b" "c 7" "d" a "b" "c 2" "d" ;ligne 8 to delete ] My first though was "use 'unique func". But it turns out that it can't do what I though. As usual, the doc tells nothing about that (in fact it ells pretty nothing on the func), but with the /skip refinment, it seems it only checks the first value at each skip position (so the 'a in this dataset), not all the values of the record.

Sunanda: 15-Jan-2011 | Max has published three "facebook hacker cuo" puzzles on Graham's forum: http://synapse-ehr.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?3-Rebol I've had a go at two of them, so there are answers just waiting to be improved :)

Group: !REBOL3-OLD1 ... [web-public]
Graham: 29-Nov-2008 | there's nothing compelling about forum software ...
BrianH: 29-Nov-2008 | No, Doc should write Cheyenne, that's what the release is for. I still don't get where you thought that Carl was going to delay the development release to write some forum software. The whole reason for the release is to get R3 out to the community, so that others can write this stuff.
BrianH: 29-Nov-2008 | Carl is just putting off the forum software until after the release, just like the DevBase rewrite.
BrianH: 1-Dec-2008 | I would if he were talking about DevBase (and did), but I think you are overestimating just how long it will take to write. We aren't talking about a web forum here, it is clear from the blog that he is talking about a R3 GUI client. He can knock that out in no time.
BrianH: 1-Dec-2008 | DevBase uses the database of AltME to store its data, has a working R/S interface, runs just fine. Change the data model and you would have a forum server. Servers are really very similar.
Graham: 1-Dec-2008 | http://www.rebol.net/wiki/RebTalk_Forum
Sunanda: 1-Dec-2008 | One step forward -- a demo/teaser for the REbtalk forum: http://www.rebol.net/r3blogs/0157.html
Pekr: 1-Dec-2008 | Now what is that once again? It once again looks as missorganised effort. Give me a break, please. This one is really not going to be better than Atlme, far from that. I thought, that when we were talking about REBOL forum, we were not talking REBOL based GUI?
Pekr: 1-Dec-2008 | No, but you could come up with any app. This plan to use it as a basis for the discussion is pretty much FLAWED. If used, it will distract us from altme, as well as it WILL NOT cover what the group was asking for - having the web forum.
Oldes: 1-Dec-2008 | I don't think this can be used for a web forum (with heavy trafic), but it's useful to find out what needs to be changed in the R3 design. That's the reason why Carl limit's access to releases. He does not want to confuse too many people as the design changes too fast. I guess, I'm not in the same group as Henrik.
Pekr: 1-Dec-2008 | Carl states in the blog, that he is considering to use it for developer's discussions, and I don't agree to that, unless I can see, that the plan is really well though out. It will not be forum, it will be still worse than altme, it will not be searchable, etc.
Graham: 1-Dec-2008 | So, we still lack a forum for the new users
Graham: 1-Dec-2008 | If it's a test bed ... then don't call it a developers forum.
Graham: 1-Dec-2008 | If it's a developer's forum ... it's grossly underpowered
AdrianS: 1-Dec-2008 | is there also going to be an r3 release today as well or is the forum reblet all we're going to get?
Graham: 1-Dec-2008 | the forum reblet needs r3
Graham: 1-Dec-2008 | http://www.forummatrix.org/compare/Advanced-Electron-Forum%2BBeehive-Forum%2BdnfBB%2BE-Blah%2BJForum%2BmvnForum%2BmwForum%2BMyBB%2BNextBBS%2BPhorum%2BSMF%2BUnclassified-NewsBoard%2BVanilla%2BViscacha%2BXMB
Henrik: 1-Dec-2008 | AdrianS, the forum reblet requires the latest R3 release.
PeterWood: 19-Dec-2008 | It seems that every GUI has a version of Apple's Coverflow these days. Flash, JavaScript, JavaFX, even WPF and Delphi. A R3 coverflow would be a much better application to test out the GUI than a colour selector and a forum client. It would be a great demonstration of R3's capabilities.
Sunanda: 5-Jan-2009 | My response to a query aboit REBOL3 on REBOLtalk would not make a marketing person happy: -- year old alpha -- no obvious contact details for those wanting to get involved. Could someone better connected do a better job, please? http://www.reboltalk.com/forum/index.php/topic,1827.msg4644.html#msg4644
Henrik: 21-Jan-2009 | >> source chat chat: make function! [[ "Open REBOL DevBase forum/BBS." /local err ][ print "Fetching chat..." if error? err: try [do http://www.rebol.com/r3/chat.rnone] [ either err/id = 'protocol [print "Cannot load chat from web."] [do err] ] exit ]]

[unknown: 5]: 7-Feb-2009 | ALTME is not the best medium for that type of effort. The forum remains with some clean code and examples.
[unknown: 5]: 7-Feb-2009 | I still think a better solution would be a darknet forum that way Carl doesn't have to worry about spammers.
[unknown: 5]: 1-Apr-2009 | I had another similiar incident recently with FBSL that AVG had caught as well and had to report it in their forum but they fixed it fast.
shadwolf: 1-Nov-2009 | CArl on french forum they are wating to now if you plan to bring rebol world to the modile phone 3 generation area ? (android windowsphone or iphone). Could be a good way to show that not only adobe flash can provide things in that area i think. But they a special "set" of feature should be build in rebol to feet the particular need of those plateform. What do you thin about it Carl ?
shadwolf: 1-Nov-2009 | ok well that's an idea that poped out on the french forum i wanted to share to carl.
Steeve: 11-Dec-2009 | >> source chat chat: make function! [[ "Open REBOL DevBase forum/BBS." /local err ][ print "Fetching chat..." if error? err: try [do http://www.rebol.com/r3/chat.rnone] [ either err/id = 'protocol [print "Cannot load chat from web."] [do err] ] exit ]]
Graham: 12-Jan-2010 | I've added a REBOL forum to my new vbulletin forum .. since reboltalk seems to be done http://synapse-ehr.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?3-Rebol
Group: !Cheyenne ... Discussions about the Cheyenne Web Server [web-public]
Janko: 23-Aug-2009 | according to this: http://www.aprelium.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=57622
Dockimbel: 15-Oct-2009 | Only from close friends living in the java world, beyond them, no one. I don't expect much from outside REBOL world yet, Cheyenne is mainly useful for REBOL programmers. Once it reaches 1.x, Cheyenne will have features that would make it more interesting for outsiders (like a simple web control panel, web sites and webapp packaging in one unique executable, on-demand ready-to-use web application loading from our servers: blog, forum, bugtracker,...). I may also add a FTP service in a future 1.x version and a lot of other innovating new features I have in mind. ;-)
Graham: 5-Jan-2010 | don't forget unintended deletion of forum channels!
Dockimbel: 8-May-2010 | <rant>One thing Cheyenne (and Rebol) needs to do is grow up, and lose Altme as the primary source of communication</rant> AltMe is convenient because almost all Cheyenne users come here for realtime chatting, but I agree on your comment. Adding a web forum to the Cheyenne web site would be a good thing.
Dockimbel: 3-Jun-2010 | anyone used Bernstein's daemontools to control Cheyenne? I think some french reboler did in the past, but not sure it was with Cheyenne, try searching through the french rebol forum.
Endo: 26-Jul-2010 | yes when I paste it to the forum, all formatting goes out.. in http protocol scheme, pick takes just one argument, port.
Endo: 26-Jul-2010 | ws protocol works, run the chat server (see the post on the forum) p: open ws://localhost/chat insert p "hello" pick p 1 == "hello" insert p "/nick endo" pick p 1 == "server: you known as endo"
Dockimbel: 3-Dec-2010 | Seems like a Chrome mime type mapping issue, see : http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=43bec1a85f6c7c9c&hl=en
Group: !REBOL2 Releases ... Discuss 2.x releases [web-public]
Graham: 26-Mar-2010 | area = rebol2 networking and not forum
BrianH: 20-Feb-2011 | Checking the Prevx support forum, it appears that they block pasting to applications to prevent clipboard monitoring. R2.7.6 is probably in their whitelist. Someone with a Prevx license needs to report that they are blocking 2.7.8, so they can add it to their whitelist.

Pekr: 28-Dec-2010 | Not directly related to R3, but an example how MorphOS guys aproach using LUA as a system language extension (AREXX replacement). It might be interesting to compare for those, who plan to integrate R3 to other systems - http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=32945&forum=28
Group: Red ... Red language group [web-public]
Dockimbel: 1-Mar-2011 | Red's web forum now opened : http://groups.google.com/group/red-lang?hl=en
Dockimbel: 10-Mar-2011 | I don't see how the chat-oriented content here would not look like a big mess if copied to a web forum :-).
Dockimbel: 30-Mar-2011 | Thanks guys for the insights and propositions. I found it a bit difficult to follow in realtime, I'm not sure that AltME is the best tool for such conversations. Maybe we should give a try to the Red web forum next time: http://groups.google.com/group/red-lang?
Reichart: 30-Mar-2011 | Nenad , how would reading something in a forum be better than reading it here?
Dockimbel: 30-Mar-2011 | Well, usually, you have more time to read and reply on a web forum before the post you're referring to, gets lost in the flow of new ones.
Dockimbel: 12-Aug-2011 | Cross-posting jocko's reply from RebelBB french forum: There are two steps in this DLL: - first send a request to the Google api, for instance : http://translate.google.com/translate_tts?tl=en&q=hello+world Google returns an audio file : translate_tts.mp3 - second, automatically open this file and play it. I use a DirectXShow filter (windows only), directly able to render the url. In the case of Linux, cUrl could do the first step, and, for instance VLC the second
GrahamC: 26-Dec-2011 | http://www.english-test.net/forum/ftopic25371.html And then in Microsoft Manual of Style (version 3.0) we can read "To form the plural of an acronym, use a lowercase "s" without an apostrophe." Example: several IFSs.
Pekr: 6-Jan-2012 | what is that channel? If a new one, a forum, please add it to the Community section on red-lang.org? |
