Robert: 15-Jan-2005 | Yes, I have NAT at home as well. No chance to change it. Do I just enter my "local" IP adress? Doesn't seem to make sense to me.
Pekr: 15-Jan-2005 | I can change it, I did so for Azureus for e.g., but it requires me to enter local network IP. But what if I want to have two users using Chord? How do I tell the NAT which computer it should contact on 2222 port? Or should I use different port for each user?

shadwolf: 19-Apr-2005 | today you enter a secretary office there is windows XP every where you enter a publisher/graphist maker you have apple every where? As there is less publisher than secretary this explain as a short cut why there is sutch difference. When you enter a astronom office you have sun Sparc every where. As you get less astronom than plublisher you understand the difference betwin Apple and Sun :). Some people needs simplicity of use others need fiability of use. Then you have the rounding industry those building the sourrounded technologies in all cases they need to sell a lot this explain for example why a comon SONY MP3 sevice came with drivers to plug it to a PC equiped with windows and why they not giving apps and drvers to handle it under linux and unix.

Gregg: 24-Nov-2006 | Is anyone else using 1.2.9 and seeing their Send mode (enter or ctrl+s) stuck, so you can't change it? I can click the button, but it won't chagne the setting.
Sunanda: 25-Jan-2007 | (Plus it changed my ctrl+s to send into enter to send) I just reset that to how I want it :-)
Maxim: 25-Jan-2007 | somehow, I find that everytime the CTRL-S option is reset (which happens every now and then), I loose 5-10 minutes tring to put it back, looking in my options and trying to remember where that option is setup.. the pencil icon just has no relevance to the option and find that its easily forgotten... why not just use the CTRL-S or ENTER text itself as the toggle button?
PeterWood: 31-Jan-2007 | I have reported the Linux link clicking and cut & paste via feedback. I'm not sure about the scrolling --- so forgive me if I enter it again.
Oldes: 19-Oct-2007 | sorry... already found it: To change your password, just right click on your name in the user list. Enter your new password, then confirm your password by entering it again in the popup. Your password will be changed.
Sunanda: 1-Nov-2007 | I now have a zillion red groups. Plus a lot of wrong settings (like the last two pressed of enter transmitted the line) But I do have a dozen or so groups with messages I'd never seen from up to two months ago.....It was drastic but it has fixed the resync bug for me, at least for a while.
RobertS: 31-Mar-2008 | I am getting an error after 1) download altme to new PC; accept updates; enter Rebol3 world;
RobertS: 31-Mar-2008 | As you can see, I was having trouble as this new install populated lists: any time that I hit the enter key the post vanished but the list would not refresh by just going to another topic and returning to this altme topic. Hence the 3 stutters in trying to report what may be a known issue as I was not sure if my post was in limbo or lost in the ethereal bit bucket
Steeve: 28-Dec-2008 | i have problems, Altme is trying to load things but is disconnected before it's finished so that it enter in a enternal loop, trying to reload same things each times.
Pekr: 6-Feb-2009 | Reichart - and as for abbhorent behaviour. Interesting thing is, that ppl I work with, are never facing anything abhorrent. Some ppl (is it US specific?) are not used to "pressure" or how to call it. E.g. we are here in CZ used to look into one's eyes, ask private questions, whereas I believe in US it would not be appropriate, because you enter someone's "private zone". When few of us from CZ were at yoga training camp, we asked them some questions, and they felt offended, that we don't have right to ask for anything which could be regarded being a private matter. It took some time for them to understand it. One manager which taught me once told me - you can be harsh, you can fight - but don't fight ppl, fight arguments. And when I said that I regard something a blatant lie, it has nothing to do with you personally ...

Maxim: 8-Feb-2007 | for example, I just discovered that the "enter/return" key is not trapped within fields (so by extension isn't sent to the plugin) within Internet Explorer. This specific case is not an issue within firefox... but then, neither receive scroll-wheel events... and others have posted that the alt+ctrl+shift keys are not detected, and there are other event issues too IIRC. this is quite serious IMHO.
Maxim: 8-Feb-2007 | ah... "enter" key... yes for sure.
Maxim: 8-Feb-2007 | I can't be sure... as I'm no flash expert, but my gut feeling is that since actual controls do receive the events... object controls should also be able to receive them ... I posted the bug mainly to make sure the enter key isn't forgotten... cause that is quite weird.
Maxim: 7-Mar-2007 | Gabriele, could a captcha be added easily and timely to RAMBO... as well as a "preview" step... hitting the "enter" is easy to do involuntarily.

Brock: 4-Mar-2005 | Ammon, regarding your drop-down style. Is it possible to also allow the field associated with the drop-dow to accept user data? Such as a case where the provided drop-down contents does not contain the value the user needs to enter. Of course it would be useful to also store that item into the drop-down for future reference, which is easily done dynamically by populating the drop-down with any value recorded in that field in the data file.

PeterWood: 23-Jun-2008 | From my point of view If anything is inconsistent it seems to be when Rebol evalutes blocks. If you enter a block in the console, it doesn't get evaluated but other values do. >> [1] == [1] >> a: 1 == 1 The block [1] was not evaluted, the word a was. Though without this possible inconsistency using blocks would be a real pain.

Gabriele: 24-Aug-2010 | graphic commands such as image are separate from text commands. inside a text "context", you can use box or vbox to enter a graphic "context". (also, you don't need the compose, as the dialect will try to evaluate arguments anyway.) So: textbox 10 10 100 100 [ box [image 0 0 40 40 load %247logo.png] ] The difference between BOX and VBOX is that the former is treated like a character, while the latter is treated like a paragraph. (So you can have the former in the middle of a text line.)

Kaj: 24-May-2009 | Depending on the Linux distro, there are several startup files executed by the shell where you can enter them
Anton: 18-Aug-2009 | I had a go at it again with Gabriele's way of doing it. So far I can only intercept input and output when enter is pressed, not at individual key presses. I think I can only open system/ports/input in lines mode, the same as the default. From memory, now, I seem to remember somebody having a go at this and arriving at the same point. (Can anybody verify that?)
Barik: 31-Mar-2010 | Yeah, I hit enter and nothing happened, so I thought it was stuck. Looks like it was just busy doing something in the background and queueing up my enters.
Henrik: 31-Mar-2010 | I prefer enabling the little pencil. That moves sending to Ctrl-S and allows you to enter multiple lines of text.
Pekr: 30-Jun-2010 | Hi, need an advice. I am setting up very simple CGI, and I use ClearOS, and CZ installation. But one of CGI scripts seems to be in UTF-8 or so, and I think error I am getting has nothing in common with Apache or its config. When I press enter on the file in Midnight Commander, I get following error (the text is my english translation, no exact wording): ./test.cgi: line 1: #!/usr/local/rebol-sdk-cmd/bin/rebol: not a file nor a directory It seems like file is containing an unicode BOM marker at the very beginning, so even shebang line can't be interpreted? How can I solve it, apart from converting file into some CZ compatible charset?
Andreas: 10-Apr-2011 | When I have setup a portforwarding via SSH, how can I get rid of it? Close the SSH session or, if using OpenSSH, use ~C to enter the client's command-line and remove the (remote) forwarding with -KR<port>. You can't remove local forwardings this way, afaik.
Henrik: 10-Jan-2012 | The only files that are visible to the shell are the ones in PATH. once they are visible to PATH, you can enter them directly. I'm thinking this is for security reasons to avoid replacing shell commands with malicious executables.

Pekr: 4-Apr-2006 | Hi ... I have following task to acomplish ..... my friend who is doing college in archeology, is working on her thesis. Part of the thesis are images of various ancient goods. So we've got photos from our digital camera. I will produce small View script, which will allow her to enter comments for each image. Now I want to do a template (table?), with various layouts, mainly two images per A4 page plus comments under each of those images. Can I influence table cell size? My past experience was, that the cell got resized according to image. Are there also various methods, how to "stretch" the image in cell? thanks a lot for pointers ...

eFishAnt: 2-May-2006 | Visit http://www.TGD-Consulting.de/Download.htmland take a look at the final release of Hex-It!. (I posted on behalf of Dirk Weyand, since he cannot reach AltME) Hex-It! is a small but powerful hex-editor. You can use this tool to analyse or alter the "fingerprints" for any kind of files. Known first as a contribution to the REBOL Demo 2006 contest, the final release with enhanced features is available now. Features of Hex-It! v1.2.0: --------------------------- * cross platform hex-editor * free "save-feature" for small files sized lesser 15 KB, to edit larger files purchase a license-key that unlocks this limitation * enhanced spot navigation with mouse scroll-wheel support * non blocking file access * support of large files (a maximum chunk of 1MB file-data is only held in memory at once) Some notes and useful tips & tricks on the usage of Hex-It!: ------------------------------------------------------------ - Modifications of files were automatically saved on exit, if you load another file or if a different chunk of the same file is selected. - Byte selection: + Select a byte with a left mouse button (LMB) click on the hexadecimal values to the left. The byte is highlighted then. + If a byte is selected, either use the cursor keys or the scroll-wheel of the mouse to scroll through the bytes of the file. + Change a selected byte with plus (+) & minus (-) or just enter its new value. Single characters, three digit numbers or single hexadecimal values are valid. + Use the right mouse button (RMB) to deselect a highlighted byte. - Spot-navigation: + The spot specifies the index/position of a byte in the file. If no byte is selected it shows the position of the top left byte displayed. + Enter a number to set directly the spot to a byte-position. + Skip a certain amount of bytes relative to the current spot by using plus (+) & minus (-), e.g. "+10000" skips 10000 bytes forward and "-1000" skips 1000 bytes backwards. + Skip to end of file: Click with the RMB on the arrow-down Spot-button or use the "End"-Key. + Skip to first byte of file: Click with the RMB on the arrow-up Spot-button or use the "Home"-Key. - Seek: + ASCII- or Hex-Strings are valid queries. + LMB click on the "Seek"-button seeks from the current position. + RMB click on the "Seek"-button seeks from the beginning of the file. Please note, that the license of this release is not BSD like anymore.

Pekr: 20-Sep-2005 | Back in old DOS days, with tools we worked with, we had following available: 1) VTG (Variable To Get) function - you could specify VTG$("AB"), and user was able to only enter A or B letter, nothing more - we used it to limit letters for floppy disk access 2) we had system of field-masks .... e.g. tel-number: (999) - 999 999 - then all non num chars were displayed in field, you could not delete them, they were skipped, and you was only able to write numbers .... if you wanted to allow chars, you used "X" insted of "9". Pretty powerfull concept - not too much complicated, and allowing you to limit bugs ppl can enter ...
Pekr: 20-Sep-2005 | One of the most difficult fields was date entry field 99.99.9999, with VO we had three or more implementations. Native one pretty sucked - it is all about what chars you allow, what happens if you press tab, del, how is field hilighted by default, what part is hilighted, if your backspace key deleting letters stops at dot or not etc ec. With date field - do you want to allow user to enter any number? 67 or other number is surely not a good day-number, is it? :-) Now do you want to disallow user to type nonsense directly? How do you know without linking it to calendar? Or do you do your validation when leaving your field? Some ppl do validation once per form, e.g. when you try to press "Save" button (not my preferred way, at least for some field-types, but some do prefer that) ...
Ashley: 20-Sep-2005 | Note the following user-configurable blocks under ctx-rebgui/edit: tabbed: [area field edit-list password button] hilight-on-focus: [field edit-list] caret-on-focus: [area field edit-list password] action-on-enter: [field edit-list password] But its probably a good idea to agree on the "correct" default behaviour anyway.

Graham: 10-Oct-2005 | and if editing text, and text wraps, then enter a space, cursor jumps to end.

Sunanda: 12-Sep-2005 | Yep. Most hotspots certainly in the UK cost money, often quite a lot. That includes Starbucks. On the other hand, there are a lot of unprotected networks....Not that I'd want to enter a password while using one.

Vladimir: 23-Nov-2008 | This is of great importance for me to.... There are three alphabets in use in my county... Whitout these characters I can not enter any name properly into database and can not print forms required by law... There are ways around it offcourse.. but I want r3 so badly :)
Henrik: 23-Nov-2008 | Not yet a linux release, as cursor management under the linux console would no longer be handled by the GNU tools for that. I don't remember the details, but it is seriously not fun to use, when you can only enter text and not use the cursor at all..

JaimeVargas: 22-Dec-2006 | Ingo, but Max suggestions doesn't use parens. Just a refinement. Also in rebol parens escabe the interpreter and re-enter it. Slowing execution. I don't think see as a good fit.

Oldes: 5-Jan-2009 | It was discussed many times. I would use javascript to hide (enter) the form. It so easy. Just use document.write("<input name='submit' value='submit' type='submit'>"); where the input is as pure html. Better as external javascript. so the spambot parser does not see it without js evaluation (which are most such a spambots)
Will: 6-Jan-2009 | I have a very easy trick that works for preventing spam in forms but it needs aiax, no captcha, nothing to enter, ping me if interested
Pekr: 18-Feb-2009 | Dockimbel - I can have my private hosting for something like 10/month, but surely not server. At least not here. And - it is not proper answer - sometimes you just want to deploy, not enter into new agreement with new server hosting house. That is upon client, not mine decision, etc.
Graham: 2-Mar-2009 | demographics and import them into the database. This is now saving this user from having to manually enter them ... there being no bridge from the mainframe database.
Janko: 16-May-2009 | just one detail idea for improvement .. when you intercept redirection in debug mode you can use javascript to set focus on the link to continue already so developer just presses space or enter and it continues. No need to leave keyboard for mouse or to press tab tab tab .. enter :) document.getElementById('java2s').focus() |
