Izkata: 19-Jul-2011 | Apparently one of the upgraded features is an automatic email subscription to all new posts in the group
Pekr: 4-Dec-2011 | yeah, R3 chat is down for several months. Personal email nor feedback message were enough for Carl to find 1 minute to start the server.
Group: !AltME ... Discussion about AltME [web-public]

JaimeVargas: 9-Feb-2006 | BTW, Everybody is invited to contribute to Orca's development effort. Initially if you have a patch email it to me, and we will reviewed. Once the core team are comfortable with the quality of the contributions the author will be given repository access.
Kaj: 11-Jul-2006 | It doesn't work without cookies, and gives no indication. Worse, it asks email and password
Anton: 12-Jul-2006 | Maybe we could use Google Groups beta ? http://groups.google.com/intl/en/googlegroups/about.html create, join and search email-based mailing lists, and designate your group as either public or restricted. Postings to both Usenet and mailing lists appear in 10 seconds and are indexed within 10 minutes.
NickA: 23-Jun-2010 | As it stands, Boron seems reasonably capable of processing strings and lists - I could certainly have a go at writing some useful stuff if CGI were possible. I'll send Karl an email...
Group: !REBOL2 Releases ... Discuss 2.x releases [web-public]
Brock: 26-Sep-2008 | sqlab - can I get a copy of your ODBC-lib as well? The email address inmy profie is valid.
joannak: 28-Dec-2009 | Adding SSL to Vid is among the things I'd like to see. Does not need to be fast (C-code), but nowdays many sites don't allow email/ftp:s without some kind of TLS or similar.. (Not my specialty, please don't ask me to implement) :)
Graham: 29-Dec-2009 | mbox: open compose [ scheme: 'spop host: "pop.gmail.com" user: [yournamegoeshere-:-gmail-:-com] pass: "password" ] and then pick mbox 1 gives you your first email
Graham: 2-Jan-2010 | http://rebol.wik.is/Protocols I made the two - three line changes to prot-smtp.r and prot-send.r and uploaded them here. And using 'ssend was able to send email thru gmail using ssl .... for those that asked.
Graham: 3-Jan-2010 | But that will get people going who want to use gmail to send their email ...
TomBon: 25-Jan-2010 | hi, does rebol sending email attachments inline or multipart attached? is there any solution to have a choise? since a mailserver upgrade I having trouble sending a pdf as send/attach ...
Graham: 26-Jan-2010 | What I suggest you do is send an email with attach and trace it using wireshark. Then do the same with an email client and see what the difference is.
Graham: 17-Apr-2010 | that covers 99.9% of the world's email services

Group: !REBOL3 GUI ... [web-public]
Henrik: 15-Jul-2010 | http://rebol.hmkdesign.dk/files/r3/gui/228.png This odd looking dialog marks a few milestones from two days of work: - Successfully create and open an email dialog created from a single style, which represents the content area. - Successfully validate the content area from the validation information stored in the style. - Successfully display validation result in the content area (the letters to the right of the fields show INVALID) - Successfully block closing it, when it's not correctly filled, when clicking "Send" using a new DISMISS reactor. - Successfully store the content in a way so that it can be returned in an object, when the dialog is finished or store a NONE/FALSE when cancelled. The dialog is called by: REQUEST-EMAIL. It doesn't send any email, that comes later. The reason it looks odd is because the new resizing scheme requires some changes in how sizes are handled in styles and I haven't quite figured out how to change them yet. We'll probably need some more prototypes, but all in all, this is a fairly good method of creating complete-featured dialogs quickly.
Brock: 22-Aug-2010 | Robert, I've forwarded him an email using the email address here in AltME.
james_nak: 3-Feb-2011 | Yes, I see that point as well. Most of time I resize something it is to either gain more real estate (Obviously shrinking the window) or to see what is being hidden, as with a large spreadsheet or to show me more as one might do with an email client. In the latter case, the objects resize larger but not the fonts, etc. This ALTME window is a good example. If I want to see more messages I can increase the size but I don't expect everything to just get bigger.
Group: !REBOL3 Host Kit ... [web-public]
Maxim: 12-Oct-2010 | your email lists you on a domain .ca... are you in canada? and if so where? (if you don't mind)
Group: Twitter ... Discussion related to Twitter APIs and such [web-public]
Reichart: 8-Feb-2011 | Twitter is cool in the simple case where ONE wants to broadcase a message to many. Any "warning" system is a perfect match. Things that update people of something, esp. like servers telling a team (think Nagios), this is all pretty cool. But, it would be better to have one system, tags, and then let the UI decide what to do with it all. So Email, Chat, Twitter, even RSS are one "system", and something in it tells the UI what to do with it.
Group: Core ... Discuss core issues [web-public]
Henrik: 27-Oct-2010 | The email parser is not very good.
Rebolek: 27-Oct-2010 | You can convert anything to email.
amacleod: 27-Oct-2010 | I was going crazy trying to send to a long list getting errors...finally found the faulty address...how do you validate email then?
Pekr: 27-Oct-2010 | Amacleod - there was a discussion on ML or elsewhere, about how useless email dtype is, if it can't work as email RFC suggests. I was told, that I should not mistake datatype, with complicated parser for possible correct emails. I still insist - the datatype is useless that way. I found some grammar, I even posted it back at that time, but I think that someone at RT was simply too lazy to implement it :-)
Henrik: 27-Oct-2010 | the email datatype is not useful for different reasons: it can't be serialized properly.
amacleod: 27-Mar-2011 | trying to get info on a file via ftp using to long version of teh port spec as my user name is an email address: fport: [ scheme: 'FTP host: "ftp.example.com" target: %/file.txt user: "bill@ example.com" pass: "vbs" ] I can read it with "read fport" but I can not get other info from it like: print modified? fport Whats the method here?
amacleod: 15-Jun-2011 | Getting an error when sending bulk email: ** User Error: Server error: tcp 501 <>: missing or malformed local part ** Near: insert smtp-port reduce [from address message] The number of email addresses is 52. I can send using the same settings one at a time and I have succeeded sending 8 addresses at one time. But it bombs on my whole list.
Group: !REBOL3 Source Control ... How to manage build process [web-public]
Andreas: 28-Oct-2010 | And from there on, we can have build bots which pick up any new export and build it for their platform. Build results are reported back somewhere (email, static website on the bots which gets aggregated elsewhere, a simple CGI, R3 chat, ...).
Fork: 29-Oct-2010 | Also do not miss doing the git config to set up your email and name information in the commits. Otherwise it will swipe that from your local machine name / localhost: http://help.github.com/git-email-settings/
Gregg: 1-Nov-2010 | Not sure what you've mentioned, but here is my config output: core.symlinks=false core.autocrlf=true color.diff=auto pack.packsizelimit=2g help.format=html http.sslcainfo=/bin/curl-ca-bundle.crt sendemail.smtpserver=/bin/msmtp.exe user.name= user.email= core.autocrlf=true core.safecrlf=false
Group: Red ... Red language group [web-public]
BrianH: 11-Mar-2011 | What they are doing is using the Usenet message format in Google Groups, and that means ~78 character lines iirc. That format was designed for composing messages in terminals (like in R3 chat) or in special editors that use fonts like Courier when composing messages. It's surprising that they didn't relax the format a little for groups that aren't mirrored on the real Usenet, but when you "Show original" (in the "More options" section) the message is formatted for Usenet and email.
Andreas: 11-Mar-2011 | Brian, Google Groups still is a mailing-list tfrontend, so those messages actually go out via email.
Dockimbel: 30-Mar-2011 | With mailing-lists, you can have a threaded view of conversations in your email client, so you can easily follow replies to differents posts. I usually have no issues following replies on AltME except when several users are talking together and posting replies fast, it becomes hard to follow in realtime.
Dockimbel: 4-Apr-2011 | If AltME could have a pure web client (supporting search engines indexing), threaded conversations, an email bridge for reading and posting, and an open API, it would probably become the best solution for online communities (of developers or other kinds).
Andreas: 4-Apr-2011 | google groups entry == email :)
BrianH: 4-Apr-2011 | Email = something I've been avoiding outside of work for nearly a decade.
BrianH: 4-Apr-2011 | I've only succeeded since a billing snafu caused my email provider to delete a year's worth of email, about 5 years ago or so. All I missed was the REBOL mailing list, so I just never resubscribed to it. Since then, people call or text msg me to tell me they've sent me email, or I get it several months later. Paper mail is nearly dead for me too.
Dockimbel: 31-Jan-2012 | Evgeniy: you can email the fixes to Rudolf directly or to me ([nr-:-red-lang-:-org]).
Group: World ... For discussion of World language [web-public]
Geomol: 5-Dec-2011 | Like: w> 1x2 [bob-:-server-:-com] Valid pair: 1x2 Valid email: [bob-:-server-:-com] Btw. date! and time! isn't well implemented for now, and I'll put that in the next update to README.
Group: REBOL Syntax ... Discussions about REBOL syntax [web-public]
Steeve: 19-Feb-2012 | Both R2, R3 escape-uri: [#"%" 2 hex-digit] email-char: complement union charset {%@:} termination-char email-syntax: [ [#":" | not #"<" email-char | escape-uri] any [email-char | escape-uri] #"@" any [email-char | escape-uri] termination ]
BrianH: 19-Feb-2012 | I figure that we should look at the email formatting standard, then subtract support for any syntax that would conflict with something else in REBOL, especially if that doesn't commonly show up in actual email addresses. We've already made some tradeoffs in favor of email (i.e. no @ in issues or words), maybe we want to make more.
BrianH: 19-Feb-2012 | There is a large, unknown number of such bugs in URL syntax, for instance. I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case with email too.
BrianH: 19-Feb-2012 | I don't necessarily want a more restricted email! than it is already, but if we are expanding what is possible with email!, it will still likely need to be restricted relative to the email standard.
Steeve: 19-Feb-2012 | Corrected version, works with R2 and R3: escape-uri: [#"%" 2 hex-digit] email-char: complement union charset {%@:} termination-char email-esc: [email-char | escape-uri] email-syntax: [ [ #":" any [email-esc | #":" ] #"@" any [email-esc | #":" ] | not #"<" some email-esc #"@" any email-esc ] termination ] |
