You're right Dide, I had to look, then realized I used system/view/focal-face 
to get it where I needed it in one app.

(we sat on View 1.2.48 for a while, so I expect, like myself, Dide 
used this version to test his programs for a while)

Dide, sorry, there is truth to what you say. But it can be done, 
too, just more work for the programmer.

I think one of the French (Dide ?) made an AREA style with that functionality.

Dide, I think it failed to load direction-pointer.r file. Just try 
again until it works ! :)

file for a while, and it still points to my old rebsite.

Dide, ok thanks. How can I specify the "empty" parameters? I would 
like to use NONE so that the variables can be tested with NONE?

Dide, how to handle the "can't pass 'maxlength without 'size" problem 
best? I mean how to specify no-maxlength? Providing a 0 or  a -1? 
I would like to use 'none for all those values, but 'none can't be 
destinquished if it's a none-integer or none-string.

Dide, yes I have found the side effect of empty/1 == none! as well.

I'll try those suggestions. It's a bit more methodical than what 
I was doing...

Crappy

 is just fine Dide. :-) There are stronger choices, which might apply 
 to the registry, but "crappy" gets the point across without being 
 offensive (IMO).

Dide - look at picture name, you will decode it :-) But - BrianH 
is imo the guy similar a bit to the mixture of The Edward Scissorhands 
and Thec Cure singer Robert Smith :-)
