We can't let you in right now

The limit of people who can chat in this account has been reached.
As people come and go slots may open up.

You can try again at any time.

Perhaps we can find some open source chat software somewhere.
Henrik:

it would be nice if AltME could carry a gateway to an HTML chat for
a single group
Anton:

We could write the code to reflect the altme chat to a website if
necessary. It's accepting chat from the web as well which starts
to make it a bit of a larger task.

how does rebol.net get its chat lists? is it a separate script that
digs through the archives stored on one machine?
Anton:

On the other hand, there are lots of open source java chat apps.

Seeing that the Orca Campfire chat is now closed, some people here
would like an Orca world and I'm running a number of AltME worlds
anyway, I started one. If you would like an account, ask me here,
or log in as guest. The world name is Orca and the guest password
is guest

no there are a lot of mezzanines in dev chat ready for the 2.7.8.
AFAIK, Carl either works on R3 or R2. not both... right now, he
is working on R3 so until we get another big release (the one with
extracted view) I would't bet on a 2.7.8.

though I have been using a few of the functions with dev chat which
Brian coded for R2/forward.
Kaj:

The question is where. There was a similar call in R3 Chat at the
beginning of the year, but no response there
Oldes:

It was used for chat about R2 bug fixing, but Carl is not visiting
it anymore.
Group: ReBorCon 2011 ... REBOL & Boron Conference [web-public]

Ladislav - what are you talking about here? What is decent and constructive
about the conference name? Are we going to be censored here, or what?
This is really starting to be crazy. Look at the Amiga - there is
AmigaOS, Aros, MorphOS, UAE, there was Amithlon .... and I expect
ppl meeting at various accassions, to share the spirit of the Amiga,
although there were some infights between the groups.

Now to REBOL. Last DevCon (Italian Devcon was not even called RebCon
- http://www.colellachiara.com/devcon05/) was held in 2007 in Paris?
Then there was one online meeting coordinated by Nick (?), and there
was an attempt to organise DevCon in Prague, in two consecutive years.
Carl decided not to attend, from various reasons, so we decided not
to push the idea of the conference forward.

Then I remember the chat of the community about the topic, thinking
about organising some REBOL related conference in Amsterodam, simply
to allow ppl to meet, not necessarily being dependant upon RT attending
the conference.

And now guys organised ReborCon. I know it was initially related
to Syllable, and REBOL clones. But - if you read the website carefully,
the topics are much broader - it already mentions topics for R2,
R3, Boron, Red. So - what is the problem here? To abandon non official
REBOL topics on conference, which is called RebCon, because somehow
imaginary, RT might have the right to "own" the conference name?

Shouldn't we be in fact gratefull, that Doc did not abandon REBOL
ultimately, but starts his own project he believes in, which in the
end can benefit for both sides - Red and R3? Is there really NO right
for me to even not suggest a possible conference name?

The Rebcon conference name was just first out-of-my-head suggestion.
I can come-up with some others - ReClone, ReCon, or even ReDCon (Rebol
Developers Conference), and if you give me some time, I might come
with something even more sophisticated marketing-wise ...

R3 chat #837 is where the R2/Forward project is normally stored.
I'll be putting it in github as well as soon as I can figure out
how to export or replicate the change history.
BrianH:

The revised mezz-series.r (relative to the 2.7.8 SDK source) is in
R3 chat #8008 - that's the number of the particular version, which
you can see by going to #41 (R2/Mezzanines) and doing a LF command.
BrianH:

The chat interface uses numbers as a deliberate design choice because
it is easier to memorize and refer to a number than it is to a path
or message ID. You can even write a message number in #8008 form
in another message and it can be followed like a hyperlink to the
message of that number. You can also do the hyperlink trich to CureCode
tickets using the bug#539 form, which will take you to http://issue.cc/r3/539
(that R3 bug I mentioned above).

I don't see how the chat-oriented content here would not look like
a big mess if copied to a web forum :-).
BrianH:

What they are doing is using the Usenet message format in Google
Groups, and that means ~78 character lines iirc. That format was
designed for composing messages in terminals (like in R3 chat) or
in special editors that use fonts like Courier when composing messages.
It's surprising that they didn't relax the format a little for groups
that aren't mirrored on the real Usenet, but when you "Show original"
(in the "More options" section) the message is formatted for Usenet
and email.

Hehe :-) Shouldn't chat on AltME while working.

Btw, there's the #red-lang IRC channel on freenode for realtime chat
(just a reminder).

I got a message in Italian saying that I can't join the chat without
a video camera
Gabriele:

Graham, I've been on Hangouts with Maarten and he was audio only.
So my guess is you can ignore the message. It might work without
a mic as well as they do have a text chat, though we also have altme
for text.

No idea why Google would use *my* language when other people join...
I guess they're just silly. :)
