Thanks. Kaj. I always thought that I should do something for the
REBOL community. But in REBOL programming, I am not as good as any
one of you. Finally, I found a way to make my contribution -- writing
a book and trying to make REBOL popular in China.

Thanks Peter. I will report the selling status. We should also watch
the RT web site PageViewNumber from China since next month http://www4.clustrmaps.com/zh/counter/maps.php?url=http://www.rebol.com

Congratulations, jerry.

@Kay: RebRep is tied to Windows because I don't have a working linux
box. I have tried to install Kubuntu 12.04 on an sdcard but it stops
at the login where I don't know what to write since the most obvious
"kubuntu" and <return> do not work. I have also tried ubuntu 12.04
and it works but have a nasty bug configuring audio and seems not
to regognize all the hardware.
I forgot to reset the beige background of previous message...

I was surprised to find my little project back on this new blog at
rebol2.blogspot.com I hope this will help to show that there still
is a bright future for REBOL ahead.

It's nice when a new REBOL user starts doing such a project right
away :-)

Have you checked the new version yet? Learning a lot of new stuff
about VID, getting more code out right the first time, etc.

And a picture sometimes says more than a thousand words can. (Especially
when your Chinese is a bit rusty like mine) :)))

I once ate in a Chinese restaurant in Thailand. The menu was only
in Chinese. And Thai. Only the prices next to the pictures I recognized.

The conditions True and Not False must be met first? It is an interesting
thought nevertheless what conditions are meant.

If so, I hope it will be possible to grind through the bug database,
where development stopped.

We are not mistaking this post from last year: http://rebolweek.blogspot.nl/2011/07/news-from-robert-muench-about-r3.html
to be from this year?!? Then juli 23rd is soon.

No, this was an old effort for Saphirion to get access to the source
code privately. It didn't work.

Thanks, Peter. Maybe next REBOL dev-con will be held in Beijing,
if I can sell more copies of my REBOL book.

NickA, it comes from Carl himself. Saphirion has received as separate
and similar notice a few days ago.

What does it mean - open source, but with restrictions?

This is a really big deal for me. Hopefully for others.
waiting and watching carefully ...
REBOL2 and/or R3?
Henrik

[212]
It would only be R3. Spending time on opening R2 would probably cost
Carl too much money on legal expenses.

It's too early to get hopes up. The restrictions may be quite severe
(NDA and such).

I expect it to have a clause, that you can't use e.g. Core.dll with
own hostkit, etc., or any other product ...

we'll see, but at least if it allows R3 to progress, even if we need
to purchase a separate license for locking down your own apps (like
it was with the SDK, and may dual-licensed GPL tools out there) I
don't think its a big issue. at least we don't have to wait.
at least the platform can outlive a single person. it can also
be extended and experimented on in unexpected ways.
