I know there are many who want a physical DevCon but it's now March.
 What say you?

I saw links to all past devcons on qtask today. too bad there are
no videos available on pages any more. If someone has them and hosting
is a problem I can putt them on some of my servers.

Qtask does hve some of the DevCon2008 videos available for download;
though it does not look like a full set.

I can put back online the 2005 videos... they were just eating bandwidth
because of silly MS search bots downloading the whole videos each
time they went thru the site.

robots.txt ?
Gabriele

maybe... though i'm not sure whatever was downloading them multiple
times each day would really respect that. i must say that they claimed
to be MS bots but i have no proof they were.
in any way, i guess that anyone interested in them can simply ask
me here. if you think there may be a real interest outside of this
group... then it would be worth uploading them to youtube instead
of keeping them in a obscure web site :)

I would be interested int them for one. I saw the 2008 couple of
times, but none of the other confs. I had similar situation with
bots dl-jing my games multiple times each time. You could put it
under password protected dir... otherwise the youtube option seems
the best for me

I should clarify something, ANYTHING uploaded to Qtask is still there,
and available. In other words, Qtask loses nothing.

So anything that was uploaded like Videos can be found simply by
searching the Files.

Yes, I found links external websites about to past conferences on
Qtask. I didn't know for them before except for 2008. The videos
on those external sites were missing.

I'm pretty sure I uploaded all the videos to Qtask (that were given
to me).

Here is what is on Qtask (from the DevCon project) https://www.qtask.com/quilt.fcgi/syndicate?uuid=U6S4YWRMSE2QN4BHW2L91VXM51QT
I can also invite you to the DevCon project.

Janko, i'll gather the videos from 2005 and make them available to
you. if you have the time and patience to upload them to youtube,
that would be great. i don't know when i'll ever get around to do
that. :)
Janko

Gabriele: great ... I can upload them to youtube no problem !

Reichart: I see there are videos I didn't previously see yet there.
I dl-ding and looking them. Thanks.

I don't know exactly being in DevCon project means, but I am taking
rebol and it's community serriously and wouldn't mind participating
*with what's in my powers* at next devcon (and am interested in eventually
seeing all videos from past devcons)

To find Carl in his cave?

Hmm, "DevCon" in France? It is clear it is not devcon as one would
expect, but it is either mostly Carl spending his vacation time in
his favorite France, or just Carl attending some conference? :-)

It's been in planning from the beginning of this month .. I came
across it when I was visiting the rebolbb today.

There is nothing that I read to suggest that Carl will be attending

Maybe we should have a central place for all the devcon videos ...
I was just looking at Yahoo's developer movie collection ( JS and
the YUI )

Hmm, reactions from DevCon in France are not much positive ... but
that was about to be expected ...

I'm using dimdim.com for some online meeting/instruction. Looks pretty
reasonable in price...free for under 10 users

Could use this in the future for some distance dev cons

Alright 2010 is almost over now. Why don't we set something up virtually
and "just do it"? I just had a Teamviewer http://www.teamviewer.com/download/index.aspx?os=windows
session with some people from Singapore and Taiwan from California
and it worked flawlessly. You guys sound like you are all doing some
very interesting things.
Maxim

it would be neet to setup, I think that setting up an official contest
to ask for a date & time amongst all rebolers as well as proposed
demos and topics would be a good first start.

I don't thing this should be planned for 2010 though, the holidays
are here and I know that I'm not available until january, already,
and I presume this is a common issue for all of us now.

I know nick has all the infrastructure setup for multi-user chat
rooms and IIRC that is what was used for the last "virtual" devcon.

That's right. BTW, that screenshot app is very cool.

thanks... its using liquid for all the rendering. the canvas is
100% AGG even for the interactive stuff, there are no subfaces.
the same engine is used for glass.
james_nak
16-Dec-2010
[136]
Very nice. Had you tested glass and liquid with the web plugin from
several years ago? Just curious.
Maxim
16-Dec-2010
[137]
as long as it has AGG it would work. though its possible the plugin
is old enough for a bit of the code to need some fixes.

You guys are welcome to use the software again if you'd like to do
the conference virtually.
I just don't have much time to put into organizing it right now -
still ridiculously busy with Merchants' Village.
