[DevCon2010] this years devcon
older newer | first last |
Janko 2-Feb-2010 [51x2] | well I sure can't go anywhere unless it's in near proximity of our country.. Praga would be that luckily :) .. I also think virtual meetings could happen every once in a while.. remote delayed conference .. I never thought of something like that but it's actually an interesting concept :) . It would also produce video "serries" about rebol |
(I mean the option of Praga is a lucky coincidence)
Maxim 2-Feb-2010 [53] | praga? |
james_nak 2-Feb-2010 [54] | In Poland I think. |
Maxim 2-Feb-2010 [55] | ahh yess... hehe different spelling :-) |
james_nak 2-Feb-2010 [56] | Yeah, I thought it was Prague at first. |
Rebolek 3-Feb-2010 [57] | Praga is same is Prague in some languages |
Janko 3-Feb-2010 [58] | ups, sorry :) |
Pekr 3-Feb-2010 [59] | Max - why I agree that live devcon is an absolute preference, I also think that some even as once Nick A. (or who organised it?) done, could have some possitive effects too. You still have to prepare for it, find your free time to join, and I think that we might enjoy it ... |
Mchean 3-Feb-2010 [60x2] | Prague would be nice |
though this year I doubt i could make it
Pekr 3-Feb-2010 [62] | Prague was supposed to happen in May, but was cancelled/postponed, with no new term set ... |
Reichart 3-Feb-2010 [63] | Prague is my second choice (after Maui) :) |
james_nak 3-Feb-2010 [64] | Perhaps we need a voting mechanism |
Reichart 3-Feb-2010 [65x2] | I might be more complex, since for example, while we vote on X, some might not be willing to go to any place other than X, or even Y. Where as some people would be cool going to Z as well. So for example, I will vote Maui, then Prague (depending on the season). But if it turned out to the be NZ, or NY, I might still go. |
I might be -> It might be... LOL
Gregg 4-Feb-2010 [67] | Well Freuded. :-) |
Janko 4-Feb-2010 [68] | this reminded me, there should be some reb/altme map where you could point yourself into so we can see where we all are location wise .. we did this in indiegamer community and it was cool.. Then you can see if you can meet locally.. what was that webapps name..? |
Graham 4-Feb-2010 [69x2] | we have one on wave |
And Chris ? did one a while ago
Sunanda 4-Feb-2010 [71] | <Perhaps we need a voting mechanism> Or at least a way of showing preferences. An AltME checklist could be a starting point. |
Janko 4-Feb-2010 [72] | it was frappr.com but it seems it's doesn't offer free maps for communities any more.. looks somewhat in havoc |
Rebolek 4-Feb-2010 [73] | but the map still exist: http://www.frappr.com/rebol |
Janko 4-Feb-2010 [74x2] | http://www.mapservices.org/myguestmap/map/rebolers |
aha, there is already a frappr map? :) .. the huge banner on the top of page it says something about starting to charge.. well I created the mapservices which is free.. you can add yourself on it
Chris 7-Feb-2010 [76] | Graham: I did, not sure where I put it... |
Mchean 9-Feb-2010 [77x2] | speaking of prague, Anthony Bourdain had a great episode on it |
looks like a great city | |
Robert 11-Feb-2010 [79] | Let's go for Prague in 2010 in person. |
PeterWood 15-Feb-2010 [80] | The only way that I see DevCon2010 being held is if somebody "steps up to the plate" and organises it. With some help (with web sites and payment collection), I could probably organise a DevCon in Kuala Lumpur. It's a long way from America, Australia and Europe. In that sense, it would be an equitable location - everybody would be jet lagged :-) |
Reichart 16-Feb-2010 [81x2] | Yeah, you guys need an xNTJ to take control. |
You have one of my votes though...
Robert 16-Feb-2010 [83] | xNTJ? |
Gabriele 16-Feb-2010 [84] | http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/INTJor http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ENTJ |
Reichart 16-Feb-2010 [85] | They are often sought out as leaders due to an innate ability to direct or influence groups of people. |
Janko 17-Feb-2010 [86] | if I ever get any better financially I will organise a RebolCamp here in slovenia.. the catch, it will be real camping in one nice camp in the alpine part of Slo |
Mchean 17-Feb-2010 [87] | Janko: Power source? |
Reichart 17-Feb-2010 [88] | A bunch of my friends meet in the Nederlands and sort of "camp" for a hackers conference. We use generators! I'm all for in Janko. |
Will 18-Feb-2010 [89] | Camping in the wild, great! In a place with crocodiles and lions, .. something to keep Reichart busy!! 8-P |
Robert 18-Feb-2010 [90] | If at least with have UMTS connection to life-stream to youtube |
Reichart 18-Feb-2010 [91] | Will, we have to eat! |
GiuseppeC 18-Feb-2010 [92] | It seems the international HackMeeting. Once we had one here in Sicily |
Mchean 18-Feb-2010 [93] | web connections? |
Janko 19-Feb-2010 [94x2] | Mchean: there are electrical sockets avail. in both camps I had in mind.. about web I would have to look up |
but no crocodiles or lions unfortunately
Maxim 20-Feb-2010 [96] | yeti !? ;-) |
Janko 2-Mar-2010 [97] | no yetis either :) the most dangerous things roaming around here are brown bears and some crazy cows :) |
james_nak 4-Mar-2010 [98] | I know there are many who want a physical DevCon but it's now March. What say you? |
Janko 21-Mar-2010 [99] | I saw links to all past devcons on qtask today. too bad there are no videos available on pages any more. If someone has them and hosting is a problem I can putt them on some of my servers. |
Sunanda 21-Mar-2010 [100] | Qtask does hve some of the DevCon2008 videos available for download; though it does not look like a full set. |
