I tried the wiki approach to live broadcasting, but may have introduced 
it too late to have it in the attendees' conscienciousness.  Whatever, 
it didn't contain the depth of relayed information I thought it had 
the potential for.  Video is fine, but is fleeting (when it works). 
 Liveblogging may be easier to implement, but then there is little 
structure to information beyond time.

Whichever route, it'll take one or two attendees to dedicate themselves 
to relaying information.

intent from potential host.

If there is more than one set of potential hosts, we could vote on

I'm able to organize really good devcon in Czech Republic. There 
will be two parts: the devcon itself and also cool fun part for a 
group of people who want to stay for couple of days longer and together 
enjoy local sights,  wine cellars(Carl? ;)) etc.

If there is some interest it could be in 2008 or later in 2009, it 
doesn't matter.

CZ sounds good to me.

Any idea why this script is crashing newer View?

The version of your script that I have is showing only the time-zone 
map in newer views.

Whatever the live streaming can achieve on the day, I think it would 
be good if a high quality video was stored for later offline access.

Anton, I agree. Live streaming just doesn't cut it for me. My internet 
connection is too slow.

Also, there must be a mic up close to the speaker---perhaps a lapel 
mic. Otherwise the audio is awful. The equipment needs to be set 
up a day or two before the event, and some testing done to make sure 
everything is working properly.  It pays to have someone with experience 
do this.

Chris: the crash looks like a some strangebug in the DRAW parser: 
If you swap line:
image images/pin prefs/location
to:
image prefs/location images/pin

it works ok

(it has something to do with the path evaluation in the DRAW parser 
imo)

Brock, I know you don't get much sunshine but your "circle" doesn't 
show up on the rebcon-map. Thanks Chris for this, by the way.

I may be able to help in the video streaming area. Our company has 
encoders that will stream at a lower rate and archive locally at 
a higher rate.

In case you're wondering, I made this map for DevCon '05.

The first one I think... Davis, Rome?, Paris, tiem flies.

I come from the land down under!!  Actually I made a mistake... dragged 
my dot off the screen, thus lost it altogether.  :-(

Oh, I thought you were up in the northern part of the US (where it 
rains alot).

I also did not know the dots were draggable.
