don't know or care, I have 7 people in my life with these names, 
including Gabreal  (m) , Gabriela (f), Gab (m), Gabby (f),  Gabriel 
(m), Gabriele (m), etc.

The archangel uses the e-less form

I think the Archangel uses a bastardized version of koptic greek 
or aramaic, which both don't really even have vowels...
