Carl says Unicode is "problematical" and he'll be working with the 
community on it.

why it is not problematic for every other language out there?

well, I think it was not just a priority for initial R3 architecture 
release ...

He said because he is in the US and Americans have little need for 
UNICODE, so he has little experience of working with it.  Hence he 
needs the wider REBOL community to help with it.

Q. What will the R3 licensing/pricing structure be?

Carl says Unicode issue is mainly the OS interface.....That will 
be part of the Open source part of REBOL....Hence need to find a 
Unicode expert to write / design it. It could be you, Petr!

next question from me for Carl will be - what about browser plug-in? 
Is Josh still around to help? We were supposed to see kind of "security 
doc", but it never appeared? Hopefully browser plug-in is still kind 
of strategic product?

He said Unicode is three separate issues:
1: getting strings into REBOL
2: a REBOL unicode datatype
3: interfaces to operating systems -- eg for file names.

The first two he said are easy. The third, he needs help on. But, 
as it wll be part of the Open Source 3.0 Opsys interface, it does 
not need to be done by RT.

On windows/nt everything is unicode afaik.

Q  What impact will the Prolific / RT partnership have regarding 
future developments? Is Rebol to become a SW technology, where the 
developers/contributors build Prolific's profit base?
