[DevCon2007] DevCon 2007

Carl 7-May-2007 [237x3] | I am now in Frankfurt, and will be in Paris in a few hours. (It has been a long trip - 18hrs.) |
Nothing more to blog about at this time. All my energy has gone into the talks.
Talk #2, is going to be very intense. Not sure how it will be possible to cover so much information in so little time. ;)
BrianH 7-May-2007 [240] | I look forward to hearing about it. |
[unknown: 9] 7-May-2007 [241] | If the talk is not documented, it would be cool to have somoene serve as secretary, and get it all written down as points. |
Carl 7-May-2007 [242x3] | The notes are online. |
One of the problems about needing to prepare the entire 3 talks in advance (before leaving home).
But, I will not publically publish the URL for them until talk time. ;)
Henrik 7-May-2007 [245x3] | It would be great to use online notes during the talk, rather than relying on good video. |
otherwise, they ought to be broadcastable with a REBOL program, changing slides on a client, when you change them :-) shouldn't be so hard to do.
maybe for next year... | |
Carl 7-May-2007 [248x2] | It would be very easy to do, and we *will* do that next time for sure. |
So is the weather always this bad here in May?
Henrik 7-May-2007 [250] | Well, we've had above average temperatures in Denmark in April and May so far. It's been very dry. I suppose it could be worse in Frankfurt than it is here. :-) |
Carl 7-May-2007 [251] | ah, so maybe just a storm |
sqlab 7-May-2007 [252] | The temperature in April here (near Frankfurt) was almost like in summer. But as we had no rain for more than one month, it's good that there is now some rain. |
Chris 8-May-2007 [253x3] | I've set up a wiki at http://devcon2007.on-arran.com/(template to match the official DevCon site). I'd be obliged if willing DevCon attendees would create pages with revelations and announcements from the conference, and also if non-attendees could help keep it organised. |
I've called it a LiveWiki, in the spirit of Live Blogging I've seen from other conferences.
Should take regular MakeDoc formatted text.
[unknown: 9] 9-May-2007 [256] | I need some info on when or where and how I should do a video conference.... |
Sunanda 9-May-2007 [257x2] | Reichart -- the official scehdule has you at 11:00 -- 11:30, Thursday: http://devcon2007.rebdocproj.org/schedule.html |
Thanks Chris: great idea! I've updated the Latest Info page, and added a page about the Library presentation ... including a link to the presentation itself. Please feel free to read it a ay in advance.
Ashley 9-May-2007 [259] | Loved this line from the unofficial description; "... main aim is to keep everyone awake." ;) |
Sunanda 9-May-2007 [260] | Thanks -- I've got to be realistic given the time slot :-) |
DideC 9-May-2007 [261] | For info, PARIS time is GMT+2:00. |
Carl 9-May-2007 [262] | We are in Paris now. Trying to locate Cypher and Gabriele. |
Pekr 9-May-2007 [263x2] | Really? I thought GMT + 1 |
'lo Carl ... | |
Carl 9-May-2007 [265] | Hi Pekr. |
Pekr 9-May-2007 [266] | Ready for the speach? :-) |
DideC 9-May-2007 [267] | Pekr: summer time, so GMT+2 now |
Pekr 9-May-2007 [268] | ok |
DideC 9-May-2007 [269] | Hi Carl, see you this evening for the Pizza. |
Gabriele 9-May-2007 [270x3] | Carl, i'm arriving at the hotel tonight at about 22 |
(i didn't know about the pizza party tonight. it was announced to late and I had booked my flight already)
i'd guess that at 22 you're still at the pizza party, if it's not far from the hotel i can reach you guys there. otherwise we'll meet tomorrow morning :)
MikeL 9-May-2007 [273] | Ouch! the guy from Italy misses the pizza party |
Pekr 9-May-2007 [274] | :-) |
Carl 9-May-2007 [275x2] | We moved tot this location: http://www.andre-latin-paris-hotel.comtel 33 01 43 54 76 60 It is directly next to the location of the DevCon. |
Yes, I hope to see you at the pizza party.... it is close to the DevCon, and to our hotel. The other hotels are only about ten minutes away on foot.
eFishAnt 9-May-2007 [277] | Shucks, I wish I was there. I was planning to go, but I have 3 REBOL-based products/projects going full steam which have been busy already for some months, and have no spare time for the next few months at least. I wanted to show the wireless device I am working on at this conference. I will try to post a video of it in the next day or 2. |
Pekr 9-May-2007 [278] | what kind of wireless device is that? |
eFishAnt 9-May-2007 [279] | It's a display and software which can go into many products, and does graphical messaging with very low bandwidth needs. |
Pekr 9-May-2007 [280] | so you're still rebolling, right? :-) |
eFishAnt 9-May-2007 [281] | Absolutely...Once a REBOL addict, always one...no better way to do it! My specialty is in proprietary embedded applications, so nearly all of my products never see the light of day of the public, but are industrial applications. This one will be very public, however, but I have kept it under tight wraps. I have several customer demos to do this week and next here in the USA. We will be licensing it to various phone manufacturers and remote delievery areas. |
Pekr 9-May-2007 [282] | hmm, it would be cool, if those devices could run Rebol OS one day. With R3 that is a possibility one day :-) |
eFishAnt 9-May-2007 [283] | Pekr, you read my mind! You must be clairvoyant! |
Pekr 9-May-2007 [284x2] | :-) dunno what is that, but yes, I might be just that :-) |
I especially liked R3's move to device model with a note, that you could get rebol console to serial port - I thought to myself - holly hell, that would be something :-)
Henrik 9-May-2007 [286] | pekr, yes, it screams "embed me now!" |
