I haven't tried Google Groups at all yet myself, but what do you

We wanted a more interactive channel. I have a public IRC channel 
on freenode setup too.

The only missing thing for IRC channel is logs.

Are you able perhaps to provide a machine for use as a server ? We 
could install something ourselves.

It's probably just as much burden to install altme as it is to log 
in to a website.

We could write the code to reflect the altme chat to a website if 
necessary. It's accepting chat from the web as well which starts 
to make it a bit of a larger task.

Mmm, it's available for Win32, MacOSX and Debian Linux, OpenBSD on 
the way.

I think so. I think Reichart set up a custom script just for Rebol3 
world, and hasn't generalised it into a release version of AltME 
yet.

perhaps that is the way QTask works? I haven't figured out QTask 
yet, but it seems to be messaging-agnostic, though webcentric.

It's not webcentric, as Reichart is at pains to explain so often. 
:)  but that's what we get to look at most of the time at the moment.

for now ? Are all current orca developers covered by those supported 
platforms ?

I'm not sure that debian linux is enough, even if it's a big part 
of them

But maybe it will be a couple of years before a developer comes along 
who is not covered by these platforms.

So it might be enough for now. I mean, it seems there's only about 
8 people taking an interest at the moment.

We have a plain IRC channel ready in freenode. Join the Orca channel.

That is the simplest. I just need to get meme9 to provide logs for 
it. So people can get up to speed.

I rather spend time coding Orca than coding tools. IRC is fine for 
chatting.

Yeah campfire cost money per users. I prefer no to have the expense.

I would like to steer orca back towards full compatibility (or close) 
to rebol (core 2.6.x  at least).  Currently orca has diverged somewhat. 
(It does have a compatibility flag, but I don't know how far ranging 
it is.)  Does anyone here have any objections to this course of action 
?

nope. Personally I'd prefer a straight Rebol clone probably with 
added bits.
