Evgeniy Philippov 29-Jan-2012 [372x5] | Anyone has a few good PC hardware architecture overview books ? Maybe on mainboard archs, maybe on nvidia cards arch. Preferably in PDF so I can read on Kindle |
Maybe overview of CPU archs. I have AMD64 athlon currently

I am interested in PC CPUs
And in mainboards and in video cards
Maxim 8-Feb-2012 [377] | Sunanda... I've had my PC for 10 months, and I'm still not completely acustomed to the new keybord :-( some of the layout decisions are also quite dumb (like using half-size keys for the arrows... now how clueless can you be to think about that kind of nonsense?) |
Kaj 12-Feb-2012 [378] | I sometimes find myself reaching for symbols where they were on Atari 8-bit twenty years ago |
Maxim 12-Feb-2012 [379] | hehe... I've sometimes looked for the "help" key on my PC ... (for those that don't know, its from the Amiga keyboard). |
Evgeniy Philippov 13-Feb-2012 [380x8] | Is Amiga attacheable via some device to a PC? =) |
Amiga kbd | |
attacheable to a PC | |
Maxim: Logitech keyboards are eternal and quite nice, standard and soft. Highly enjoyable.
Logitech Videocams and mice, too.
Logitech G15 G19 and other models also have a special small monochrome screen on them. Useful for some people.
There is a Windows and Linux drivers for this screen.
are | |
Geomol 13-Feb-2012 [388] | I don't understand, why Ctrl is moved down on modern keyboards. I always switch Ctrl and Caps Lock, because I use Ctrl a lot and don't like my hand twisted. It's much better to have Ctrl on the same line as A, S, D, F ..., like on the keyboards, I used a lot in the past (Acorn BBC, Amiga, Wyse terminals). I'm currious, what users modern keyboards are friendly for, they're not programmer friendly for sure. |
GrahamC 13-Feb-2012 [389x2] | Typists of course! |
Many more typists than there are programmers requiring Control key on the most used rows
Geomol 13-Feb-2012 [391x3] | Modern typists use eletronic word processors with many control-key shortcuts, don't they? |
My guess is, a typist use Ctrl more than Caps Lock.
Like Ctrl-B for bold, where Caps Lock for all capital were used on non-electronic typewriters.
GrahamC 13-Feb-2012 [394] | Modern typists use the mouse! |
Geomol 13-Feb-2012 [395x3] | :D |
I'm afraid, you're very much right about this.
The mouse if for playing first-person-shooters, nothing else. ;P
Evgeniy Philippov 13-Feb-2012 [398x3:last] | There is a Optimus keyboard by Artemiy Lebedew tema.ru design.ru where on every key there is a video screen. It costed $500 several years ago. |
Every key displays a video stream.
Like that. | |
