I think it's important to get it working in VLC for the linux users,
h.264 or not...

DideC
6-Aug-2005
[601]

Gabriele
6-Aug-2005
[602x2]
yes.
i'm going to try out other solutions too. this one works very well
though.
Henrik
6-Aug-2005
[604]

Installing QT7...
Gabriele

[606]
i think the result would be much better with a server here in europe.
Henrik

it probably goes through many nodes... sometimes you get a good connection,
other times bad.
I heard a car horn honking 10 seconds ago. what's the delay?
Gabriele
6-Aug-2005
[609x2]
i have QT7 open here too. the delay is 20 seconds or so.
actually, more like 10 seconds
Henrik
6-Aug-2005
[611]
the video is more steady now
DideC

Ok QT7 working. Video is slow and hangs all the time.
Suare dance is back
suare=quare

Yes, but no more graphic of packet loss and bitrate.
Gabriele
6-Aug-2005
[621]
try to restart it. should be on TCP now. more delay maybe but theoretically
no packet loss.
DideC

Henrik
6-Aug-2005
[624]

Gabriele
6-Aug-2005
[625]

DideC
6-Aug-2005
[626]
yes.
Henrik
6-Aug-2005
[627]
it's consistently slow :-)
Gabriele
6-Aug-2005
[628]
also - i usually need to quit completely QT and then start it again
for it to work properly.
Henrik
6-Aug-2005
[629]
still tcp? cause it's dead now
DideC
6-Aug-2005
[630]
Funny things is that QT give no sound, but VLC does (without picture).
It remember me last year!
Gabriele
6-Aug-2005
[631]
yes, still tcp
Henrik
6-Aug-2005
[632]
it's very annoying that it takes so long to get a keyframe
Gabriele
6-Aug-2005
[633x4]
ok, so QT/DSS is not very reliable. i'll try out othe options during
this month, until we find one that seems good enough.
i could try to make it send a keyframe every second, but that would
use a lot more bw.
let's try it.
ok, restart it (still tcp)

WHat is with vlc and 264? I know nothing about codecs, just googled
a bit and found this: http://developers.videolan.org/x264.html
Gabriele
6-Aug-2005
[638]
it looks much worse here.
Henrik
6-Aug-2005
[639]
ok, I got a keyframe very quickly, but the video pauses almost instantly
DideC
6-Aug-2005
[640x2]
same here. More changes, but nothing good to see
For my part, it was better without H264. Have you tried H263?
Gabriele
6-Aug-2005
[642]
yes... but let's try it again now.
DideC
