Robert 18-Jul-2005 [373] | That's what I suggest, because it will be non controllable process ;-)) |
Gabriele 18-Jul-2005 [374] | dunno if we have internet at the hotel tough. |
james_nak 18-Jul-2005 [375] | Gabriele, thanks. |
JaimeVargas 18-Jul-2005 [376] | *hack will be a completely uncontrolable experiment ;-) |
Robert 18-Jul-2005 [377] | IIRC UMTS is very good in Italy too, right? Maybe we can use this. |
JaimeVargas 18-Jul-2005 [378x2] | Maybe we should do it on the first day. |
And on a voluntary basis.
Gabriele 18-Jul-2005 [380] | yes, and hopefully treviglio is covered. but, dunno about prices for umts connection. i guess it is pretty expensive. |
JaimeVargas 18-Jul-2005 [381] | Maybe the project should be finish RebGUI, it is opensource and I think two of their main contributors will be there. |
Robert 18-Jul-2005 [382x3] | UMTS: Gab, can you check out if it's possible to get test-UMTS-cards. Sometimes this is possible for some days ;-)) |
RebGUI: That's a very good idea. IMO RebGUI is the most active and broad-based community project of the last 12 months.
And it adds a lot of value to speed-up development time for applications.
JaimeVargas 18-Jul-2005 [385x3] | A subproject will be skins for RebGUI. That way we can split the team. |
The hackers. | |
It will be interesting | |
Robert 18-Jul-2005 [388x3] | multi-column table, and a data-form dialect. |
:-)) | |
Ok, need to go... see you guys...
DideC 18-Jul-2005 [391] | Not sure I understand correctly what is a "hack session" ! Can one connect me ? |
Heather 18-Jul-2005 [392] | Gabriele - thank you so much for planning a sightseeing trip in Rome and negotiating a reduced hotel rate. That is really above and beyond the call of duty. My one piece of feedback is regarding the schedule. I helped plan Handango's annual conferences and the one thing I learned early on is that bathroom breaks are very important. I noticed the schedule has no breaks. You might want to add in a few 15 minute breaks, otherwise you'll have people walking in and out of the sessions. |
Gabriele 18-Jul-2005 [393x3] | done (thanks to Cindy too, which gave the same suggestion and reworked the schedule). I have updated the schedule. |
(breaks were somewhat "implied" but i guess that's a very bad idea. better to have them explicitly in the schedule.)
DideC: "hacking" together at a project, i.e. writing something together.
Ashley 18-Jul-2005 [396] | Gabriele, is it too late to add a presentation slot for me? (I thought I already had one (- ) Topic would be: Building & selling REBOL-based solutions - theory and practice. or if folks preferred: Building REBOL-based community projects - RebGUI case study. |
JaimeVargas 18-Jul-2005 [397] | Ashley I give you +1 for the first one. |
Robert 19-Jul-2005 [398] | And +1 for the second. |
Maarten 19-Jul-2005 [399] | +1 for the first |
Pekr 19-Jul-2005 [400x2] | I would like to see following topic covered - Rebol deployment - how to link rebol into other environments - library wrappers, callbacks, what would language extensions bring us etc. Such session would have to be done by Rebol experienced programmer, who eventually will be able to get some supporting info from RT about what is planned. So - DevCon05 is near, plans changed - 1.3, SDK priority etc, but NONE of last DevCon stuff appeared. I would like to hear how long will we wait for already announced stuff like ReBIN, RIF, async, LNS, etc. |
but maybe this one will be covered by Carl during his keynote speach, I would like to hear some more realistic schedules though :-)
Gabriele 19-Jul-2005 [402x2] | ashley: done. |
petr: cyphre is looking for a topic... so maybe you can suggest that to him :)
Pekr 19-Jul-2005 [404] | yes, after all he has some experience by helping RT to integrate AGG, so .... :-) |
Brock 19-Jul-2005 [405x2] | With all of the talk about new widgets etc, maybe Cyphre would be interested in a tutorial or introduction into building new View or RebGUI widgets? |
Ashley, I give you +1 for both topics ;-)
Pekr 19-Jul-2005 [407] | Brock - good one! Understanding View/VID and its lower level internals would be good to have presented ... |
Robert 19-Jul-2005 [408] | and documented. |
JaimeVargas 19-Jul-2005 [409] | Gabriele could you post a link for the italian fligth search engine? |
Gabriele 19-Jul-2005 [410x2] | hmm, one is http://viaggi.virgilio.it/prenotazioni/voli/index.html |
this one is in english and should have italian flights too http://www.travelocity.com/
JaimeVargas 19-Jul-2005 [412] | I am looking for cheap flights within Europe. I want to visit some frieds after the DevCon. |
Cindy 19-Jul-2005 [413] | I used www.air-gorilla.com - they beat all the other prices I got for flying into Rome then home from Milan |
Carl 19-Jul-2005 [414] | (And we hope that they actually provide planes with it too. ;) |
JaimeVargas 19-Jul-2005 [415] | Hahaha |
Robert 20-Jul-2005 [416] | Big Germany based engines are: - Hotel: www.hrs.de (with english interface) - Flights: www.biller-reisen.de (not sure if EN interface) |
Pekr 20-Jul-2005 [417] | Someone here wanted to prepare presentation about business possibilities and using certain language (REBOL). Here's one article regarding "The economics of programming languages" - http://www.dedasys.com/articles/programming_language_economics.html (taken from osnews.com) |
Gabriele 20-Jul-2005 [418x3] | Registrations are now open! |
http://www.colellachiara.com/devcon05/register.html
Please remember that you must register before July 31st if you want to get hotel reservations with your registration.
JaimeVargas 20-Jul-2005 [421] | I am looking for a roommate to split costs. |
Gabriele 20-Jul-2005 [422] | If you select sharing a room and check "suggest ..." I will suggest possible roommates as soon as i have enough submissions. |
