shadwolf 9-Jul-2005 [326] | we will give it to you asap |
Pekr 11-Jul-2005 [327] | My friend who is big fan of F1 racing today informed me, that 2nd of October, there is F1 racing in Milano? He also told me, F1 is rather popular in Italy, and that we should expect Millano traffic troubles starting from 1st of October. Gabriele? |
[unknown: 9] 11-Jul-2005 [328] | Ouch. funny how racing slows things down. |
DideC 11-Jul-2005 [329] | Monza "Grand Prix" is 2, 3 and 4 september. So if any, it's not formula one at this date. |
Gabriele 11-Jul-2005 [330] | Yep, DideC is right. See www.formula1.com. |
eFishAnt 11-Jul-2005 [331] | so there is no "race" condition? |
DideC 12-Jul-2005 [332] | Monza event calendar : http://www.monzanet.it/AreaImmagini/CalendarioPDF/2005/Calendarioal comune 2005.pdf |
Gabriele 18-Jul-2005 [333] | web site updated! http://www.colellachiara.com/devcon05/index.html |
Robert 18-Jul-2005 [334x2] | As you see I got a slot but no topic yet... I have some ideas, but I'm not sure what you are interested in most. So, hey, why not ask? :-)) |
Ok, ideas I have are: 1. Is commercial success of Rebol bound to open-source the interpreter? 2. make-doc-pro browser as a base for an IOS/xpeers based Wiki 3. The RPC idea - 12 months later If you have an other idea let me know :-)) I'm open to think about all kind of topics.
JaimeVargas 18-Jul-2005 [336x2] | I like (1). |
We should have a discussion forum slot and/or hack-a-solution session. It will be good if we could have a project to tackle together, besides presenting . This could help us either build new mezz, or prototype some ideas. We could post ideas on what to do in the hack session ahead of time.
Pekr 18-Jul-2005 [338] | I don't fully understand 2) Do you plan for kind of "web interface for IOS"? |
Gabriele 18-Jul-2005 [339x2] | about discussion: i hope we can have plenty of that after 4 pm. :) maybe we can have a room at the hotel or something like that to sit around a table and just talk |
otherwise... i'll see if we can stretch the school time to 5 pm
Pekr 18-Jul-2005 [341] | ... and drink :-) |
Gabriele 18-Jul-2005 [342x2] | :) |
btw, what do you think of the plan for Rome?
Pekr 18-Jul-2005 [344] | Gabriele - how expensive is accomodation in Treviglia? |
Robert 18-Jul-2005 [345] | 2) No, Shadwolf and I have done a Reblet that renders MDP documents. Something like his MDP-GUI. The idea is to use such a browser (with an attached editor) as base for a x-internet wiki system. Distributed via IOS. |
Gabriele 18-Jul-2005 [346] | no idea yet, i'm waiting for that from Mario. |
Robert 18-Jul-2005 [347] | I just visited Rome in May :-)) Very nice city. |
Pekr 18-Jul-2005 [348] | plan for Rome sounds really attractive, although in my case there are several factors - how to get to Italy (probably by car, but I can't travell myself that far a way ...) and money - I invested into Xidys and now I am short for money :-) |
Robert 18-Jul-2005 [349] | So I count: +1 for topic 1 |
Pekr 18-Jul-2005 [350] | Robert - +1 for topic 1? Is that your topic? :-) So you want to have presentation about possible advantage of open-sourcing Rebol? Or am I missing something? |
Robert 18-Jul-2005 [351] | Yes, these are my ideas I can present (or say something about) at DevCon 2005. |
Pekr 18-Jul-2005 [352] | simply - two nights in Rome, right? It is some 180 EUR for accomodation, then there is train to Millano - 50 EUR. But what if we go by car? Should we travell directly to Rome? Or first accomodate ourselves in Treviglio and travell to Rome by train? |
Robert 18-Jul-2005 [353x2] | The title doesn't state "advantage of open-sourcing Rebol", the presentation will about if it's mandatory to get commercial success. |
or not. ;-) | |
Pekr 18-Jul-2005 [355] | ah, that could be interesting. You have some experience in that area? That is really a good question - "how to get rebol succesfull"? Today I posted another links to article talking about Ruby (Rails) and such arctile mentions Python, PHP, Perl, but noone ever mentions Rebol - I wonder why ... - so - good topic! |
Gabriele 18-Jul-2005 [356] | petr: if you share the room (they're all double rooms) it's €90 for two nights. and by car it can cost you more than €50 (unless you share too). but, i guess in your case it's just much cheaper to get directly in milan. |
Pekr 18-Jul-2005 [357] | I will probably go directly for devcon to Milan, leaving Rome visit for some later time once I will be rich :-) Well, I will see - I need to talk to Cyphre and Ladislav how do we travell. If we can go by one car, the expenses will be lower of course ... |
Gabriele 18-Jul-2005 [358] | we'll miss you guys in rome though :) |
Pekr 18-Jul-2005 [359] | we will see :-) |
Robert 18-Jul-2005 [360] | So I count: +2 for topic 1 |
Gabriele 18-Jul-2005 [361] | make it +3 - interesting topic :) |
JaimeVargas 18-Jul-2005 [362] | How about the hack-session? |
Robert 18-Jul-2005 [363] | Ok... I will focus my thoughts to it... |
Gabriele 18-Jul-2005 [364x3] | the problem with that is where to fit it... |
we could shorten some talks if you think a hask session would be better to have.
*hack | |
james_nak 18-Jul-2005 [367] | Gabriele, if and when you get the technical details for a webcast, let me know. My family has 2 vacations planned and so I won't be able to make it. : ^( |
Gabriele 18-Jul-2005 [368] | the plan so far is to use the same tech of last year, just with more experience ;) |
JaimeVargas 18-Jul-2005 [369] | I think that a hack session will be really useful it will teach us how do we collaborate when meeting in person. |
Gabriele 18-Jul-2005 [370x2] | but... i have seen a couple of new streaming servers around, i'll make sure to test them out. |
it is also possible to do that after the "conference", i.e. after 4 pm. plenty of time till night ;)
JaimeVargas 18-Jul-2005 [372] | We need to make the most out of our gathering. I think sharing what we have been doing our our pov is good. But we need to find ways to improve our projects by either sharing code, or learning to collaborate efficiently. Things that are only learned in an actual project. |
Robert 18-Jul-2005 [373] | That's what I suggest, because it will be non controllable process ;-)) |
Gabriele 18-Jul-2005 [374] | dunno if we have internet at the hotel tough. |
james_nak 18-Jul-2005 [375] | Gabriele, thanks. |
