Kaj 17-Oct-2005 [2522] | I loved those when I was young |
Allen 17-Oct-2005 [2523] | Luckily I can still get Dubble Zout drop at my local shops. :-) I've got dutch relatives arriving next month, and should be able to stock up on some chocolate, drop and stophoest :-) |
eFishAnt 17-Oct-2005 [2524x2] | So how can we find the names of the unknown REBOLers at the conference? There are faces in the crowd I have no idea of... |
like who was the person with the plane pilot's hat on?
Tomc 17-Oct-2005 [2526] | village person |
Benjamin 17-Oct-2005 [2527] | define village person :-) |
eFishAnt 18-Oct-2005 [2528] | OK, watched all the presentations...WOW |
DideC 18-Oct-2005 [2529] | Steve, I think the "plane pilot hat guy" is Will Arp ;-) |
Gabriele 18-Oct-2005 [2530x4] | wait, there was a real Alitalia pilot; the first day he arrived directly from the airport with his uniform. his name is Paolo Marciante. |
you can see him in this photo: http://www.rebol.net/devcon/2005/photos/pages/dsc03032.html (foreground, Victor Pavlov; background, Paolo Marciante)
the one on the right here is Romano: http://www.rebol.net/devcon/2005/photos/pages/img_1976.html
this is Will Arp: http://www.rebol.net/devcon/2005/photos/pages/pict3763.html
eFishAnt 18-Oct-2005 [2534x2] | and do you have the picture of Nick? (good way to introduce me to their faces...:-) |
It is Will Arp I was wondering about. Is he German?
JaimeVargas 18-Oct-2005 [2536x2] | Will is his alias name, not his real life name. |
I will let him disclose more if he desires.
eFishAnt 18-Oct-2005 [2538] | Who was the guy with the Login magazines? |
JaimeVargas 18-Oct-2005 [2539] | DideC |
eFishAnt 18-Oct-2005 [2540] | aha! Cool! |
Gregg 18-Oct-2005 [2541] | WIll is Swiss I think. |
[unknown: 9] 18-Oct-2005 [2542x2] | Yes, Swiss... |
Is there a way to get all the pictures as a Zip? And did I ever upload all my pics form the conf? I have been so busy I don't remember.
Gabriele 18-Oct-2005 [2544] | reichart: i don't think you did. you said you were working on your own website for them, or something like that. |
[unknown: 9] 18-Oct-2005 [2545] | OK. Yes, I am still working on my own, and yes, I will upload a Zip for you soon. Can I get a zip of yours? |
Gabriele 18-Oct-2005 [2546x3] | sure, let me build it for you. |
http://www.rebol.net/devcon/2005/photos/photos.tar.gz(506MB)
(if you upload yours with the upload script on that page, we get the thumbnails automatically too.)
[unknown: 9] 18-Oct-2005 [2549] | Do I need to upload it as a tar.gz? |
Gabriele 19-Oct-2005 [2550x2] | with the upload script, just select all the images, and it will take care of uploading them. |
otherwise, zip or tar are ok for me (but i need to generate the thumbs manually)
[unknown: 9] 19-Oct-2005 [2552] | I have a LOT of pictures. So will prob send you a zip. |
Gabriele 20-Oct-2005 [2553] | zip is not going to make jpgs smaller ;) |
Pekr 20-Oct-2005 [2554] | :-) surely not, I would say the archive will be even bigger :-) |
Graham 20-Oct-2005 [2555x2] | However, it is commonly used as a way to pack things into one archive. |
Even though the individual items are already compressed.
Gabriele 20-Oct-2005 [2557x2] | what i mean is that it won't be any easier/faster than using the script (which will save me figuring out how to make the thumbs from the zip file ;) |
but... i guess that wouldn't be hard, so it's no problem anyway.
Pekr 20-Oct-2005 [2559] | gabriele - to get data from .zip, use zip:// scheme .... ah, we don't have any, sorry :-) |
Gabriele 20-Oct-2005 [2560] | petr, that's not the problem at all :P |
[unknown: 9] 20-Oct-2005 [2561] | As Graham pointed out, I simply was going to use Zip as a quick way to package everything. Since I was going to break stuff down into directories. |
james_nak 13-Mar-2006 [2562] | Did you all decide where the next Devcon will be? |
[unknown: 9] 13-Mar-2006 [2563] | Who is "you?" |
Alan 14-Mar-2006 [2564] | why y'all :) |
Geomol 14-Mar-2006 [2565] | Talked about Paris, but I'm not sure, if it was definitive. |
Pekr 14-Mar-2006 [2566] | Paris and Amsterodam were considered here IIRC .... |
james_nak 14-Mar-2006 [2567] | Historically we've had the eFish (Davis) and then Gabriel (Italy), I've heard some talk of Prague. I just throw that out to see if someone comes up with a place. |
Allen 14-Mar-2006 [2568x2] | I thought the French Rebols had lobbied for the next one. |
I've done some intial venue investigation for Brisbane in 2007 or 2008
Cindy 14-Mar-2006 [2570x2] | Wow, and Carl thinks I plan ahead! |
The problem with the Dev Con timing is that we have grapes to pick and crush. They were unusually late last fall and we probably picked them earlier than we would have liked. About 10 -12 days after picking, you have to press the wine.
