Gabriele 4-Oct-2005 [2068x2] | i only have 512kbps out here :P |
but... my server has 100Mbps so as soon as i'm finished uploading your speed will improve i guess :)
Romano 4-Oct-2005 [2070] | 30 Kbit here |
Brock 4-Oct-2005 [2071] | 35 Kbit here. |
Gabriele 4-Oct-2005 [2072] | ( i should note... please keep BT running after you finished downloading so to upload to other too... this way people will be able to download it much faster. :) |
Pekr 4-Oct-2005 [2073] | yes, from several sources .... |
PhilB 4-Oct-2005 [2074] | Gab .... looks & sounds great ! |
[unknown: 9] 4-Oct-2005 [2075x2] | I have no slides. |
Unless you want my picture. : )
Gabriele 4-Oct-2005 [2077] | maybe we should upload the screensaver :P |
Pekr 4-Oct-2005 [2078] | I started Torrent download - if more users do need it I will let my machine up and running but I will not add much to overall throughput, just some 128kbit .... (I am very near to have 1Mbit at home though :-) |
Ammon 4-Oct-2005 [2079] | I wonder if the "warm welcome" we gave Vital Needs on the ML has anything to do with their decision. IMHO many of you were very rude to Heather when she posted to the list. |
yeksoon 4-Oct-2005 [2080] | the quality of the video is very good. thanks... worth waiting for... |
Henrik 4-Oct-2005 [2081] | now why, today of all days, am I stuck on a crappy modem connection... :-) |
Gabriele 4-Oct-2005 [2082] | Gregg's presentation is coming in a couple hours. (iMovie crashed and i had to transfer it twice...) |
Jean-François 4-Oct-2005 [2083] | I have the same question as PhilB: If the files will be torrents .... does anyone have any suggestions for a clean bit-torrent client .... ie No spyware .... ...for Win 98 |
Volker 4-Oct-2005 [2084] | good video. thanks :) tried it on linux (sloow machine). vlc has no sound, but mplayer plays it well. |
MichaelB 4-Oct-2005 [2085] | in my vlc sound is working, v 0.7.2 |
Graham 4-Oct-2005 [2086x3] | 29kbs for me .. which is very good for torrents for me. |
7 seeds in swarm. | |
Can we have Gabriele's presentation after Gregg's ?
Gabriele 4-Oct-2005 [2089] | ok. i was doing them in order... but if you prefer mine first... |
Graham 4-Oct-2005 [2090] | Yep, cutting edge stuff first :) Ladislav/Jaime next :) |
Gabriele 4-Oct-2005 [2091] | Gregg's is on. http://www.colellachiara.com/devcon05/gregg.html |
Brock 4-Oct-2005 [2092] | Jean-Francois: I downloaded BitComet, but I am a newbie at this stuff as well, so not sure if this has spyware or not. Haven't noticed any spyware at this point, but I'm sure I haven't run all the necessary cleaners to be sure. |
Gabriele 4-Oct-2005 [2093] | what's wrong with the original bittorrent client? (ok, quite raw, but as long as the file is downloaded...) |
Luca 4-Oct-2005 [2094] | I'm downloading at 140kB/s using ABC 2.6.5. I don't know about any spyware but it doesn't mean that there are not. |
Alan 4-Oct-2005 [2095] | for anybody on a modem, when all the movies are done and uploaded I can burn a cd and send |
BrianH 4-Oct-2005 [2096] | ABC doesn't have spyware. Any torrent client will do, as the speed mostly depends on the seeders - the client overhead is negligable. I used Azureus, worked fine. |
Alan 4-Oct-2005 [2097] | have bittorrent running and sharing right now/who is 66.130.241.94 ? |
Graham 4-Oct-2005 [2098] | The advantage of using a new client over the original is that in the new clients you can control the bandwidth. If you don't want the torrent client to soak up all your bandwidth .. use a new one. |
BrianH 4-Oct-2005 [2099] | The original client is OK if you are downloading one torrent and don't care to keep track of the file after you downloaded it. If you download multiple torrents It is better to have a queuing client like Azureus. |
Alan 4-Oct-2005 [2100] | can not seem to find the free version of Azureus :( |
Graham 4-Oct-2005 [2101x2] | all versions of azureus are free. |
try sourceforge | |
BrianH 4-Oct-2005 [2103x2] | http://azureus.sourceforge.net/ |
Presentation works fine here. Media Player Classic, 3ivx decoder, all standard stuff right out of the K-Lite codec pack.
Alan 4-Oct-2005 [2105] | getting thanks ! |
BrianH 4-Oct-2005 [2106x3] | Here's the K-Lite Mega Pack download location, also with Real and Quicktime support without their players, no spyware: http://www.codecguide.com/download_mega.htm |
For those with Windows, though.
Someone's autofocus is a little inconsistent, but the audio is good enough.
Luca 4-Oct-2005 [2109] | I'll keep my bittorrent running to contribute the downloading. |
BrianH 4-Oct-2005 [2110] | Mine's still up too :) |
Gabriele 4-Oct-2005 [2111] | yep autofocus had big problems with the flat bg of show05 |
Pekr 4-Oct-2005 [2112] | Ammon - dunnof of what are you talking about - who actually was rude to Hether from VitalNeeds on ml? Do not remember anything like that ... |
Alan 4-Oct-2005 [2113x2] | re:Azureus,what port are you guys using ?using 6881 i get = NAT Error |
same with 6883 ? | |
Tomc 4-Oct-2005 [2115] | Pekr I remember discovering evidence people were rude to her at her previous job ... |
BrianH 4-Oct-2005 [2116x2] | Alan, do you have a firewall appliance? If so, you need to open a port. If the firewall appliance has UPNP support, Azureus can open the port for you automatically if you tell it to. BitTorrent is a two-way protocol. |
It is also best to tell Azureus to do all of its communications over a single port (this may not be optional now). Some ISPs also block or slow down the standard BitTorrent ports, so you may want to change that port 6881 to something like 50000.
