Pekr 30-Sep-2005 [1265x2] | Squid? It is proxy, no? Or FW? |
yes, it is encrypted ...
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1267] | well, from experience I know that Altme doesn't like proxy servers |
yeksoon 30-Sep-2005 [1268] | last year DevCon... Carl mention one of their lessons learnt from IOS is that sometimes encrypted message may contain 'dirty characters'...that can be rejected by proxy, firewall etc. 'dirty' = 'non approved words... |
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1269x2] | and since they're at a school, they almost are certainly using a free proxy like squid. |
so, we can all blame Reichart !
Pekr 30-Sep-2005 [1271] | I would not do so, as Reichart is right now the only connection with DevCon :-) |
Chris 30-Sep-2005 [1272x4] | 'k -- quick hack of an old app: |
do http://www.ross-gill.com/r/rebcon-map.r
Or try 'where' on my rebsite...
I'd get it to do more, but it was a pig to get it to do this much...
Tomc 30-Sep-2005 [1276] | ok what is it doing? |
Chris 30-Sep-2005 [1277x2] | Just sharing coordinates. Type in your name, and click where you are on the map. |
It shows where we all are...
yeksoon 30-Sep-2005 [1279x2] | see 4 dots including mine |
does it shows 'who' is on which dot
Henrik 30-Sep-2005 [1281] | backspace in the text field gives error |
Chris 30-Sep-2005 [1282] | Yep, next stage would be to -- a) save your name and dot, b) show a list of names, c) highlight the dot of the selected name, and d) show their local time. |
yeksoon 30-Sep-2005 [1283] | kind of similar to 'givist' from Google |
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1284] | ** Script Error: caret-to-offset expected offset argument of type: any-string ** Where: edit-text ** Near: caret-to-offset face caret >> |
yeksoon 30-Sep-2005 [1285] | gvisit |
Tomc 30-Sep-2005 [1286] | 1:10 am on the west coast |
Chris 30-Sep-2005 [1287] | Yep, I had an error too -- I guess that happens when you're typing and it updates... |
Tomc 30-Sep-2005 [1288] | well I look forward to all the stuff I'll see worked out in the morning. good night |
Chris 30-Sep-2005 [1289] | Here's hoping... |
Pekr 30-Sep-2005 [1290x2] | ok, so still not clear if the stream will work or not, I give up too ... going to dress myself up and prepare to move to my work, there I will be on AltME at least (but via GPRS, so no chance to have enough throughput to watch the eventually running stream ...) |
The stream was real fun for me last year ... I have my gfx card connected to tv-out typed here on altme on the primary monitor, watching video stream on TV ... it was cool ...
Volker 30-Sep-2005 [1292] | would switching to ios work? it goes thru proxies? |
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1293] | Trillian works well too |
Volker 30-Sep-2005 [1294] | would be cooler if its done with rebol ;) |
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1295] | would be cooler if anything worked |
Volker 30-Sep-2005 [1296] | Agreed. But trying ios first would cost 5 minutes. OTOH other messengers would be multiplatform. |
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1297] | you forget the 5 min delay between each message in iOS messenger |
Volker 30-Sep-2005 [1298] | only on loaded servers. fresh ones are faster. |
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1299] | oh well, I don't have IOS installed anymore. |
Volker 30-Sep-2005 [1300] | who provides groups then? jabber, icq, irc? |
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1301x2] | Pity Jaime can't code up a chat program now ...apparently he was going to do this while at Devcon during his talk. |
Yeksoon, any updates? | |
yeksoon 30-Sep-2005 [1303x2] | just messae Reichart via QTask..let's see if he is monitoring it. |
it must be 'painful' for him...to use QTask rather than AltMe :)
Sunanda 30-Sep-2005 [1305] | ML message from Gabriele: <<Unfortunately network connectivity is not working as we wanted it to, so we had to drop the real time video streaming.>> http://mail.rebol.net/cgi-bin/mail-list.r?msg=39251 |
Chris 30-Sep-2005 [1306] | Bummer... |
Henrik 30-Sep-2005 [1307] | ah well... at least the conference is going |
yeksoon 30-Sep-2005 [1308] | from R: = Update on the Dev Con. Sadly, while we have wireless, and access to the Web, not to AltME! Shame. Also; Although it is being taped correctly, we can't get it on the web. Apparently there are a lot of problems with Firewalls here, at different levels, as in, we are in a school, but in a addition, the Italian gov might be blocking some stuff. We are not sure. == |
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1309] | Oh well, I guess we come back in a few weeks to see the videos. |
Henrik 30-Sep-2005 [1310] | hopefully the presentation material will be up much sooner than that like last year |
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1311] | I'm on the Mac right now, so no AltME unfortunately... I'll try to get my laptop on too and try to figure out how to bypass the firewall so I can get on AltME too. In the meantime, I have skype running here... just search for gabriele_santilli and specify who you are so i can authorize you. -Gabriele |
Chris 30-Sep-2005 [1312x2] | Updated the Map -- should now remember who you are. (let's see who's still around :o) |
do http://www.ross-gill.com/r/rebcon-map.r ; or 'where' on my rebsite
Graham 30-Sep-2005 [1314] | Yeksoon, can you ask R to record the sessions as low rate mp3s and then upload after each session ? |
