older newer | first last |
Pekr 24-Sep-2005 [1058] | so what is the stream address? is it rtsp protocol like it was last time? |
Gabriele 24-Sep-2005 [1059x2] | rtsp://217.133.2.35/teststream.sdp |
(of course, ti will be different for devcon.)
Pekr 24-Sep-2005 [1061] | heather is no more listed as a speaker? |
Gabriele 24-Sep-2005 [1062] | she is not coming to Italy anymore. |
Pekr 24-Sep-2005 [1063] | did anything happend to Vital Needs partnership? Hopefully not? |
Gabriele 24-Sep-2005 [1064] | i think she just had work to do. |
Henrik 24-Sep-2005 [1065] | looks fine. I won't be doing more work today on it, but I might make a new frame that fits a little better into the presentation layout. |
Maarten 24-Sep-2005 [1066] | I am thinking of doing my presentation in Breeze (video/audio prefab over the web with chatbox etc.) Liitle less fun for the people in the room but a lot more fun for everbody who is not coming. If I do that, who would be happy? |
Gabriele 24-Sep-2005 [1067] | [shutting down the video stream for now.] |
Pekr 24-Sep-2005 [1068] | me probably, but dunno what is Breeze :-) used to altme though :-) |
Maarten 24-Sep-2005 [1069x5] | http://www.macromedia.com/breeze |
check te demo | |
I opened atrial account, so up to 5 users can join us using Voip/chat/video there
a trial account | |
But if more users want to view I'll just do a pay per use session (where I pay)
Ashley 24-Sep-2005 [1074] | Could someone who has successfully downloaded Show05.zip email it to me (address shown by AltME is correct). Thanks in advance. |
Kaj 24-Sep-2005 [1075x2] | Coming up |
Done | |
Ashley 24-Sep-2005 [1077] | Got it, thanks. |
Maarten 25-Sep-2005 [1078x3] | website for devcon (and mirror at dobeash) seems to be down! |
http://breeze62116255.emea.breezecentral.com/devcon2005/a first try on my first two slides. I will schedule a public meeting at 2pm on Thursday (speaking time), where I will start the presentation and up to 5 users can join. It might be handy to open a free 15-day Breeze trial account on Macromedia if you want to add voice (e.g. audio conference)
Why this way? If this works we might be able to set up a more frequent virtaul meeting/conference.
Ashley 25-Sep-2005 [1081] | re: websites down. I think the culprit in both cases is Chris's site (http://www.ross-gill.com/) where the CSS files reside. |
Maarten 25-Sep-2005 [1082] | Why not cache that locally then? |
Pekr 25-Sep-2005 [1083] | not trying to read too much into signs awailable - but Heather Arrington of Vital Needs is removed from the conference schedule and all REBOL related info from their website vanished, while just few months ago they praised REBOL as an enabling technology in various documents on their website ... strange ... |
Maarten 25-Sep-2005 [1084x2] | Up to 5 users can join me now to test the Breeze meeting room on http://breeze62116255.emea.breezecentral.com/meetingdevcon2005 SIgn in as guest and pick a nickname |
for the breeze watchers: howdy from a shared altme
DideC 25-Sep-2005 [1086] | Can I join ? |
Maarten 25-Sep-2005 [1087x2] | You can, as guest. |
Although we just deciced that it is a good idea, but not for Devcon.
DideC 25-Sep-2005 [1089x2] | Erk, Did not have time !! |
I think it's too short to use it. It seems to need practice. Chat window is ridiculous.
Benjamin 25-Sep-2005 [1091x2] | It's there a whay to see the conference from internet ? will there be a live chat ? i would REALLY like that. |
BTW breeze seems the perfect tool but its expensive too
DideC 25-Sep-2005 [1093x2] | It should. But test show limited reliability. |
LAST YEAR, SURFNET HAD RELAY THE STREAM, AND THIS YEAR ?
Benjamin 25-Sep-2005 [1095x2] | what do you mean ? don't they have webcams and broadband in itally ? |
haa.... we people in sub development countrys would like a bit of the real wourld shine some cheap and creapy videostream would do ....
Kaj 25-Sep-2005 [1097] | We need a Breeze implemented in REBOL |
Henrik 25-Sep-2005 [1098x2] | not too impressive, me thinks |
except for sound and camera, this could be done easily in REBOL
Kaj 25-Sep-2005 [1100x2] | But that's the point, we need sound and camera, and better platform integration |
We have this great environment in which we can do anything, but trying to go outside we run into walls
Benjamin 25-Sep-2005 [1102x2] | rebol Plugin could work for this but again there's the plaform issue, i thing this filed its outside rebol capabilities interaction w/hardware sounds a bit crazy in reb-world. |
Breeze, to much noise to few nutts, again the tool looks graphicaly impressive, how much is this customisable and the costs of the service leave out too many cuestions to me. im thinkig macromedia products are not what they where a couple of years ago, now its more like a bloat.
Brock 25-Sep-2005 [1104x2] | I know there are problems with the plugin regarding multiple instances or refreshes... but Breeze didn't load on my unaltered installation of Firefox either. Also, being a hockey fan I check www.nhl.com fairly regularly, but must switch to IE cause the menu system doesn't work outside of IE. Is this the web-developers fault or just the web in general? Too fragmanted with too many people with their own agendas! |
I like the Webservices smart client world best and if Rebol can make a multiple platform impact here, we have our killer application/framework.
yeksoon 26-Sep-2005 [1106] | a reminder for those flying over for DevCon. Please do not tell the immigration officer or customs officer that you are here - for 'rebel' conference - to change the world - for 'X' Internet - and other terms that even geeks may have problems understanding :) |
[unknown: 9] 26-Sep-2005 [1107] | Brock, as a company that is working very hard to make everything compatible between all the browser I can tell you that what it comes down to is that there are rules, but each browser company (or group) interprets the rules slightly differently. The simplest example of goes wrong the most are the "assumptions." EI for example will except <center> to mean center the page, and center pretty much everything until you turn </center> off. But Firefox follows the letter of the rules, and expects each object, like a table, to have its own <center> tags. This is a simple visual example, it gets worse when JavaScript enters the picture. Safari for example DEMANDS everything ending in a ";" or it simply ignores stuff. They are almost always easy fixes, but time consuming. Maarten, shame that Breeze will not work. I looked at Breeze and voted not to use it to do a Rebol lesson. Looked great on their page, but I read a lot of similar comments elsewhere on the web that it simply failed for too many people. I was hoping that someone smart in this group would know what we could use both to solve our DevCon needs and the Rebol Newbie Lesson needs. We need a way to broad cast at least one video signal, and allow moderated chat in the same environment for people all over the world. This should be easier. I have an Idea that might work, but will require some research. I might just do this in Qtask. Then anyone can log in from anywhere, talk in a group, have sub topics. All we have to add is video streaming (which is actually pretty easy for us). The trick is setup up the incoming real time stream, which I was not planning to do for a while. |
