At the time when I made this group, I didn't want to impose too much
on the REBOL community here. Do other people think it's a good idea?
Hey, that's not Carl's script anymore. I didn't know the groups were
fully archived now :-)
Is there a way to link to a group so that you always go to the latest
post?

I don't think it's an imposition! It'd be a service.
It's my script

Latest post......

The format of the URL is: .....posts=worldnameNNNxMMM NNN=group-id,
MMM=post-id.
Use MMM=0 to mean latest *page* of posts for that group, eg:

http://www.rebol.org/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/rebol/aga-display-posts.r?post=r3wp152x0
Or, from the index page, click the date column [far right] for a
group -- that takes you to the end too.

That would be cool. Thanks!
I added the web-public key. How long does it take to turn up on the
site?

Thanks -- it'll be a couple of hours -- some automated jobs will
spot the title change and schedule an upload.

The translated live CDs we have been working on are now available.
We have another article on OSNews with this and some other goodies:

Kaj, I downloaded the latest version as VMWare and used it on the
Mac. Very cool :-))
This thing must really be a time killer... a nice one of course.

Thanks. It sure is. On the other hand, around the time we started,
five years ago, I and others spent so much time fixing Linux that
we independently sort of decided that it wouldn't really take more
time to spend it on developing our own operating system. It certainly
leaves us with a lot more to show for all that time
Well, both Linux and Windows, really. The Windows situation is still
roughly the same. Linux has improved a lot over that time, but only
to reach about the same levels as Windows

Amiga software runs on Syllable now :-)

S3 storage?
Kaj

[1094x2]
Yup :-)
I might also mention that, a few days ago, I also ran AROS on Syllable
Server. On Bochs, similar to how I did on Syllable Desktop a few
weeks ago

Kaj, it seems to me, that even osnews.com audience is slowly warming
up to the Syllable, don't you think? :-) At least response is vital
....
Kaj

[1097]
Yeah. We had to make an awful lot of effort for our PR campaign of
the last months, though, to make it happen
Pekr

[1098x2]
what do you mean by effort?
As for me, I tried to contact Tom Halwerda one year ago, when RT
announced they are developing R3. He refused to publish it. I then
objected, that they are posting much less important newsbits from
various other communities, but he said that mainstream systems as
Win, OS-X have some priviledge ...

News events every other day and articles to go with them on OSNews
don't get created by the fairies overnight
Unless I'm a fairy, that is...

I hope this time, once R3 beta is out, they will not hesitate to
post about it. And I also think, that Syllable helped REBOL on osnews
a bit. Because if OS designers decided to use such language, it ought
to be rather good :-)

I suspect Thom's objection was mainly that you wanted him to publish
it a year before there was any new product :-)
That's what I mean, we have been consistently producing real news

I don't agree though. IIRC interview with Guido about upcoming P3
was there. P3 development has started just recently, and is due to
be finished next summer .....

Don't worry, though, R3 will be mentioned on OSNews in Syllable articles
:-)
Dunno, we were just contacted by the Python crew about Syllable support
in P3. It's for real. You can never know that with a closed-source
company - especially not one from the Amiga scene...
Can't say I blame Thom. He's been good with us

Kaj, can you give me a management summary about the differences Syllable
Server / Desktop?
Kaj
24-Aug-2007
[1110]
Yes: Server runs on Linux, while Desktop has its own kernel and filesystem
