james_nak 27-Sep-2007 [76x3] | Yeah, if you put that way, that would be nice. Do we have an app that shows where were all from? I wonder if Terry could whip up us something? I recall at one time there was a link to a google maps page that posted little balloons. |

Oooh. Of course the line above has nothing to with Devcon but if you want a nice stove...
Gregg 28-Sep-2007 [79] | There was a world map at one point, maybe done by Chriss Ross-Gill on an old IOS world. |
Alan 28-Sep-2007 [80x3] | errru has/had one called planet.r I have a copy and put it here http://home.comcast.net/~amigarebol/planet.r |
you will need to input your info via the box in lower right
looks like his page page is 404 :(
Terry 28-Sep-2007 [83] | http://www.foureyesjokeshop.com/ProductImages/Bun_in_the_Oven_funny_couple_costume.jpg |
Chris 29-Sep-2007 [84x2] | Graham -- needs an update: http://www.ross-gill.com/r/rebcon-map.r |
Any idea why this script is crashing newer View?
Brock 29-Sep-2007 [86] | The version of your script that I have is showing only the time-zone map in newer views. |
Anton 4-Oct-2007 [87] | Whatever the live streaming can achieve on the day, I think it would be good if a high quality video was stored for later offline access. |
Louis 4-Oct-2007 [88x2] | Anton, I agree. Live streaming just doesn't cut it for me. My internet connection is too slow. |
Also, there must be a mic up close to the speaker---perhaps a lapel mic. Otherwise the audio is awful. The equipment needs to be set up a day or two before the event, and some testing done to make sure everything is working properly. It pays to have someone with experience do this.
Cyphre 5-Oct-2007 [90x2] | Chris: the crash looks like a some strangebug in the DRAW parser: If you swap line: image images/pin prefs/location to: image prefs/location images/pin it works ok |
(it has something to do with the path evaluation in the DRAW parser imo)
Chris 5-Oct-2007 [92x2] | Thanks, Cyphre. Duly updated... |
do http://www.ross-gill.com/r/rebcon-map.r
james_nak 6-Oct-2007 [94x2] | Brock, I know you don't get much sunshine but your "circle" doesn't show up on the rebcon-map. Thanks Chris for this, by the way. |
I may be able to help in the video streaming area. Our company has encoders that will stream at a lower rate and archive locally at a higher rate.
Chris 6-Oct-2007 [96] | In case you're wondering, I made this map for DevCon '05. |
james_nak 6-Oct-2007 [97] | The first one I think... Davis, Rome?, Paris, tiem flies. |
Brock 6-Oct-2007 [98] | I come from the land down under!! Actually I made a mistake... dragged my dot off the screen, thus lost it altogether. :-( |
james_nak 6-Oct-2007 [99x2] | Oh, I thought you were up in the northern part of the US (where it rains alot). |
I also did not know the dots were draggable.
Brock 6-Oct-2007 [101] | I'm actually in Ottawa, Canada, the down-under was a bit of joke about being from where I "don't get much sun" |
Sunanda 29-Feb-2008 [102] | Ping? |
Pekr 18-Apr-2008 [103] | DevCon 2008 in Prague was cancelled. RT decided not to participate this year at DevCon, as they prefer R3 being finished first. Prague as a place still stays as a main candidate for next DevCon though. I expect next DevCon to happen sometimes Spring 2009. |
Henrik 18-Apr-2008 [104] | good move |
james_nak 18-Apr-2008 [105] | Perhaps it's time we consider an eDevCon. |
Henrik 18-Apr-2008 [106] | Perhaps it's also time to consider some REBOL tools for eDevcons. |
amacleod 18-Apr-2008 [107] | I like that idea. REmote slide show, Shared white board... |
Pekr 19-Apr-2008 [108x3] | yes, AltmeNG :-) Channels with moderation, etc. It is 12 yeas, but do you remember famous Amiga shows? We used IRC channels with hundreds of ppl, yet we were at least possible to moderate ... |
Maybe read-only feature for certain groups would be sufficient as a starter ....
but yes, tools for sharing would be fine. We should look at tools line MS Collaboration server or Lotus Sametime - kind of multi-icq app - you drag and drop users there, you can make screenshots, post them directly to channel, you can draw and post it, you can share your app to other (probably using RMD (remote desktop) protocol in Windows)
Maarten 20-Apr-2008 [111] | So our coumminty is so strong that if RT "cancels" Devcon particpation, we don't have one? Let's solve *that* problem. Devcon 2008 in Prague! |
Reichart 20-Apr-2008 [112x3] | I think would could do it with out Carl, but it would be a lot of fun to have hi talk about R3...and worth waiting for... |
I do like the idea of a Virtual devcon though...
I could get about 5 of the Qtask team to talk about their work with REBOL....
Maarten 20-Apr-2008 [115] | Well, we should do something every year, virtual or not. Otherwise we're not taking what we do very seriously. |
Reichart 20-Apr-2008 [116x2] | True... |
I'm in. | |
Maarten 20-Apr-2008 [118] | Well, we can videoconference with Skype in the worst case ;-) |
Reichart 20-Apr-2008 [119] | We need a simple system to pass the video feed around, we think we found a service that works well...we need to talk to Mark (at Qtask) about what he finally liked best. |
Henrik 20-Apr-2008 [120x2] | I would like to see a presentation system with concurrent audio feed from the presenter. |
recordable | |
Maarten 20-Apr-2008 [122x2] | That does exist... at the conference in Croatia in 2004 they already had that, synced with slides, really nice. |
*the TNC conference | |
Henrik 20-Apr-2008 [124x2] | I would in fact much rather have that, than some kind of live videofeed |
to see anything on the presenter screen you need it in almost HD anyway
