read-via-browser might be a better method, seemless do the javascript
http object without having to expose the javascript required to the
rebol user, but will it will then pickup the browser security settings
on such things

Maybe a good compromise. Full speed rebol-network restricted or signed,
and more relaxed thru javascript, where the user knows allready how
to deal withit (more or less)

How do you add rebol.com to your list of approved software installation
web sites in Firefox?

Here are the steps for FireFox 1.5:

   1. Click Tools->Options
   2. Click "Content"

   3. Click "Exceptions" next to "Warn me when web sites try to install
   extensions or themes"
   4. Type "rebol.com"
   5. Press "Allow"
   6. Press "Close", then "OK" to close the Options window.
Could use anextra <p>
Maybe a cache-problem?

Hmm, WinXP Pro, install for IE worked fine, install for FF seemed
to work fine as the Red/Blue box was displayed, but clicking on the
test.html link in the developer guide brings up the HTML without
the TestPanel application.
and yes, I did the uninstall first.
A similar thing happend to me on my Win2k Pro laptop for work, I
initially installed the plugin in FF, then tried IE. FF worked like
a charm, however IE presented the same scenario as listed above for
FF, dowload words, image is displayed, even saw the test page, but
a very simple Rebol app worked in FF, but not in IE.
Anyone else able to get the plugin installed properly in more than
one browser?
I'm going to try my work laptop now (er, after the 3 minute boot)
Hmm, the Win2K laptop didn't get either installed. FF plugin is
bailing on the .xpt file... it's never getting installed it appears.
No idea why the IE plugin didn't work on the win2k laptop. Does
it matter if I don't have FF installed in %programfiles%. I have
installed many of my apps on my D: drive, however, did not reassing
this system variable to my D:\.

It would be better to have a more obvious test/image to show that
the installation works than some text with a shifting coloured background
hmm.. I can't get http://www.compkarori.com/reb/working on firefox

works in both browsers, with app.
.. own app..
except of "wait time", that waits a few secs instead of fractions.

FF 1.5 WinXP install worked. I already tried yesterday, but it didn't
work then.

But the only demo that's working for me ist the one on the auto-install
page.
Everywhere else I only get a black line.

Maybe the object-id has changed, and html needs to change? the old
plugin is removed, so..
Could there be an easy way to uninstall? I feel more comfortable
when i can say people "install it, try my script, uninstall" as long
as security is not finished.
Had a massive memory-leak somewhere in the browser, while running
heavy graphics plugin and reloading often. Seems they got stuck on
quit or something? (as i said, reloaded, called also quita few times)

the initial demo worked?
Friend and me having fun with the plugin. Really amateurisch :) He
tries the web-part, http://www.legends-of-istaba.de.ki/and webcaming,
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7522578118238437287. But
insist on keeping the real thing secret :) (anyway not worth 10mb
download for now..)
(and he does the artwork, based on stuff found here: http://reinerstileset.4players.de/index.html
)

And the demos don't work for me.
Do any of the demos work for FF ie. have they been updated for the
new plugin?
Ok, thanks to hints from Volker, I got my chat working with the new
plugin under firefox
Looks like the plugin now requires an absolute path to the launchurl
.. if given a relative url, it attempts to execute off the local
drive

Yeah Graham, I'm waiting for the same. I think JoshM just needs
to have a status report on IE, FF, SA OP. Actually we need to do
the same thing for Qtask (so I''m not ragging, just pointing out
we ALL need to do a better job of keeping everyone updated).

OK, tried to Install on IE : falied.

- I have remove the old one and goes to the install page, clicking
yes to the security request, but nothing !
- When I go again to the page, no request, no plugin running :-(
Win2k (uptodate) on IE6 (uptodate)
I have retried after removing file by hand (command line) and after
flushing the cache : no more luck !

strange - it works here, DideC, I also removed plug-in by just deleting
the files in C:\Windows\Downloaded program files

rebooted? if you have some hidden ie running, it may not look for
new plugins.

hmm, mozilla plug-in installed (Seamonkey 1.0.1), but instead of
demos, I can see only a vertical black line ...
(using non installed version of Seamonkey - just unzipped ...)
Josh - please revisit the "Find out why" - the content is no more
actual there ...

Until the news are old, I would like to submit plug-in news to Osnews.com
.....

I would wait until it's more stable, Pekr.

but - we need some cooperation here first:

- change of "Find out why" document

- change of docs to reflect how to go via proxy ...., using user.r,
making user.r example downloadable

- revisit demos - removing most user demos which are not working,
making some nice visual demos from Contest running in plug-in ...
Thanks Anton, that way my last point - should we wait, or no ...
